He had fallen in love with a young woman by the name of Agnes in the Lynch of household and in a fit of jealous rage one night Walter took the young Spaniard's life. The story goes that an angry 'lynch mob' took to the streets and barred the way to the usual execution spot so James took his son Walter and hung him with his bare hands from the open window into the street.....he was lynched from the hanging sill. 'To Hell or the Hangman' is this story through Walters eyes, a tale of unrequited love with a murderous end. Enough drama for you? That site basically says that the term was not coined in the 15th century in Ireland, but 300 years later by the allmighty Americans. Stupid.

how often did you see Alan live ? for my personal taste hes the best live singer there is. his Aura is insane. you cant let your eyes off him imo. saw him 30x live so far, and cant wait to see him again. i love his podcast aswell.

Cracking album. Not only have they consistently got better over time, but Nemtheanga's vocals have also got better with age. Been listening to these guys for decades now, and quite frankly I'll continue listening and buying their albums for as long as they want to make music.

I thought so to but this is their only energetic song. Everything else is so slow and boring.

I usually don't listen to music like this because I like fast/aggressive/highly distorted etc. metal, but some bands, including Primordial, do an INCREDIBLE job on making their songs sound so inspiring and deep. the feelings I get from listening to this album are indescribable. wish Primordial all the best.

I love the atmosphere this band creates.

This one, Empire Falls and Dark Song are my top 3 Primordial songs. Absolute masterpieces, the 3 of them.

Primordial doesn't do bad albums because they don't know how to do songs that don't stir emotions

У него такой голос... с такой экспрессией, с такой отдачей он поёт, просто слов нет как круто. Эта песня прям за душу берёт, настоятельно советую еще перевод прочитать. Been a fan of Primordial since "Where Greater Men Have Fallen" when I was in college. Brilliant songwriting. Nemtheanga's voice is so clear and powerful. The music a masterful mix of black metal, power metal and Irish folk music. Love this band.

Just reading the story about this song got me really excited. Hearing the vocals got me super into it. The galloping beat got me going. I love this.

I was a bit taken aback at first by this one, but after a few listens, I really dig it. This band never disappoints.

Primordial is such an unique band and all albums are great! Love them!

Entrance Metal, I don't know. Dark Metal is sometimes thrown around, but Primordial hit it way better than any other, as far as I'm concerned.

And what does that vague label 'dark metal' even means? I remember Aeternus threw this label more than 20 years ago with their debut and that shit was really dark (about the same time with the masterpiece Imrama and its successor A Journey's End). With their last albums Primordial turn their music to more palatable fields and distance themselves from what darkness used to be.

Saw this live Song in Aschaffenburg yesterday. It was awsome, Never heard so much energy and perfectness

Alan Averill is the best Metal Lyricist of this decade.

Damned fucking hell......this is so hypntotic, pumpin and kickin forward....powerful. After reading the comments of A.A. Nemtheanga this track gives me goosebumbs when ever I listen too. BTW folks: Dont just download the whole album here on youtube ! Support your local record store and buy the CD or Vinyl and of course support the Band by Buying the CD of Vinyl !

My favorite Irish band!

The fact this isn't played on Irish radio is an insult to everything music represents. Here we have an incredibly talented group of guys that could benefit massively from some radio publicity. Songs about Irish history/folklore but people would rather listen to Ann Marie tell everyone we're just friends.

Radio is an outdated format across the entire developed world. Modern options allow us to listen to music which suits our individual tastes rather than the trash that businesses are payed to play for free public consumption. Rather than lament the lack of quality music on free radio, lament the lack of exposure and poor discovery of the algorithms used by the various modern solutions. I don't remember how I found this band. It was probably randomly suggested to me by the KZread algorithm after hundreds of hours of listening to other artists in the over-arching heavy metal genre. Primordial is a real treasure. Head and shoulders above many of their peers. So much so that it is a question how they are lost in the diaspora.

This song is awesome and the drumming is brilliand , well done Primordial !!!!

First time listening to Primordial, the best thing ever and even more with this song, damn this is great!

Primordial, Rotting Christ, Panopticon, Downfall Of Nur, and so many more. Alan Averill voice and the guits and bass. Sublime. Just sit down, put on the ears, and ... Maiby, jusy maiby, Heavy Montreal Fest, the biggest HM fest in north America.

Rarely do songs catch my attention the first time I listen to them. This song is great. The intro is a tad long but the body of the song is spectacular.

Got to hand it to these guys, after all these years, they've still got it.

The music and vocal passion is dead on again, doesn't seem to be a falter in your guys step. Raised glasses to the gait with the stride of intent known as Primordial. May you continue to conquer all before you.

Artists don't do what you want. Enjoy or find something else to hear. Fan of them since 1st album and for me is still a great band ,i do agree it's different but still good.

One of my favorite bands. ( For long time) I love that bass player is keeping low end rhythm & not trying to pay electric guitar on Bass. I wanna hear low end rhythm, not someone trying to sound like Micheal Angelo Batio on Bass.

I've fallen in love with Primordial the moment I've heard them. I can't describe the way their lyrics and Alan's voice resonates with me and with my Russian soul. When he sings about history, heroes, martyrs, wars, death and struggle, there is so much in it for me and my culture. Probably, it is a true art, it speaks the language all people understand.

Years and years ago (2008?), I worked as a bouncer in Dublin city centre, this fella gets in. Nice bloke, reddish-blond hair down to his waist, immediately thought to myself 'this is not a random metalhead, he must be in some band', we started talking, he said he indeed was in a band called Primordial. He said his name was Ciaran (Kieran or Kieron?) and I had no idea about this band except vague recollection that the name I've already heard. Man, that guy was such a nice and humble person! And now I can clearly recognize him playing the guitar - I recollected the incident and attempted to search for their music to see how they've developed in the meantime. Really nice piece of modern Doom Metal production.
