Fun fact….the reason the skullcrawlers were so aggressive….because they are literally always hungry..they have to keep eating Almost Constantly..also the big one is called Ramarak, and was the one responsible for killing Kong’s parents..it was said in the novel she used a barb in her tail to stab kongs father..also…the first thing kong witnesses when he was born…was his parents being slaughtered 😢. And in this movie…Kong is actually a teenager.

In my opinion, this movie has the best human characters in the Monsterverse. Almost every single MC has a distinct personality, the jokes are on point, and you really do want them (Aside from Packard of course) to survive. Plus Marlow’s homecoming never fails to bring a tear to my eye.

Such a great film showing how great of a character kong how intelligent and tactical he is. You can also see that he’s pretty lonely being the last of his kind also another fact is that kong is just a young teenager not fully grown. Also in the comics kong battled skullcrawlers in those tunnels where they crawled out of. Also when kong is a bit older double the size he fought a giant bat kaiju just called kamazots who almost killed him but humans established a base they’re to make sure skull island was protected.

Goodman who voiced a monster who traveled to kids closets by doors and call alien people nuts-that’s something. Fun fact-One of the soldiers plays in the Loki show as the guy who Loki threatens to turn into a fish and shows Loki the infinity stones. So that would be a total of five Marvel actors in this film. Throughout this film i was firmly on Kong’s side, the fact they shot him simply because they didnt know what Kong was versus just lowering the choppers down and being calm saws a lot about humans. Too many times we shot first and then question last and more often than not that causes more chaos than if we cooled our heads down. Like one of the guys on the plane could tell it was a monkey, great ape to be precise, but that should be a sign for them to know oh animal-this is a territory of this animal. Now, I do not know if during this time military people were trained to know animal behavior and how to act in a situation so they could just be a product of their time. My only bad thought of this movie is that Mason and Kong didnt bond like Ann and Peter J.’s Kong did. Kong tends to be a lady magnet, which as women do tend to have a softer voice and animals respond better to soft noises it makes sense Kong also would be able to connect with females better. So, it would been nice if he had some connection with Mason other than that one minute touch. It is what makes Kong so different from the other kaijus, Kong can create a strong connection to humans. The large part is that he is a fellow primate, greatly larger than other great apes, walks bipedal which humans are the best primates at accomplishing so it is strange Kong can do that, but he is still a primate. His facial expressions are easier to read and understand for humans compared to Godzilla, his behavior is more closer to ours, and just like the Jackson Kong those big brown eyes are so easy to fall in love with. It is why I am a strong Kong over Godzilla fan.

The giant spider is called a mother longleg. In the Monsterverse graphic novels it is said that the reason mother longlegs stab creatures or humans with their legs is because that’s one of two ways they feed. When the mother longleg penetrated the soldier through the mouth, it was feeding off of his insides. But there’s more, when the spider was feeding on the soldiers insides the soldier was still alive and didn’t die until the mother longleg released its leg from the mouth. It’s quite a horrifying death to watch your insides get liquified and then sucked out of you during your final seconds.

It’s so baffling to me how it’s been five years since this movie came out and its director Jordan Vogt-Roberts hasn’t had a major follow up yet. He was able to make a really solid commercially and well received critically genre blockbuster film, so I assumed a bigger franchise like Marvel or DC would’ve picked him up, or that he’d continue with MonsterVerse films. Instead he’s done… nothing.
