    I love how Jack Black delivers the final line of the movie after Kong takes all those bullets and falls off the Empire State Building to his death: "It wasn't the airplanes. It was beauty killed the Beast." FUN FACT: Andy Serkis, who did the motion capture acting for Gollum from Lord Of The Rings and Caesar from Planet Of The Apes, did the acting for Kong in this movie. Also, this movie is set during the Great Depression.

They built the wall to keep the kongs and dinosaurs out, but as they sank into the ocean they got over ran. So now they use the wall to keep the animals in.

    There are water creatures too on Skull Island. In fact, a extended edition scene shows how Jack Driscol and Co makes a raft and float over the lake we see in the scene where Bruce Baxter decides to give up. First they're getting attacked by some water bugs that look partly like scorpions but they flee once a underwater dinosaur called the Pirahnadon appears and smashes one of the two rafts, forcing Jack to go underwater. As they make it to shore (with Preston struggle to keep the camera out of the water) Carl get the camera from Preston and tests it to check if it wasn't damaged and "luckily" gets when one of the sailors gets eaten by the Pirahnadon and Lumpy says "Lucky, that you got that on film, are you?".

  • @Saberrex1
    @Saberrex17 ай бұрын

    Watch the extended version. There's so much more to the film in that version, including giant killer fish, a ceratopsian attack, and more... Also, the 2005 King Kong is a homage to the 1933 Kong movie. Peter Jackson even had 2 of the gas grenades in the original film in his remake. Additionally, many of the creatures in the film are homages to old depiction of dinosaurs from the 1930s. Even the Brontosaurus, and Vastatosaurus rex (fictional descendants of Tyrannosaurus rex) were depicted like this. The raptors were also reused designs from his first attempt to make this film in the 1990s, and the 3 on 1 fight was based on the fact that the tyrannosaurs were supposed to be a family group. The insect pit was also based off a deleted scene from the original film, as is the swamp scene in the extended version. There's also a book called The World of Kong: A Natural History of Skull Island, that builds off this film, showcasing many of the creatures that never appeared that were originally designed for this movie. It's very rare now, but I have a copy and you can find it on eBay. Also, on a separate note, I hope you'll do more reactions to the rest of Castlevania. Those were awesome!

    The Venture Ship was done in several ways in the movie. They bought a ship from the 1950's and rebuilt it to make it look like the turn of the century (around the end of the 19:th century and beginning of the 20:th century) but they didn't film on the ship, it was mostly used for the wideshots. A big model version of The Venture was used when it approaches Skull Island and in some shots it is CG. Since filming out at sea is really difficult to do and you can't control the weather (those problems what Gore Vibrinsky had during Pirates of the Caribbean franchise) so all the filming on the boat was on a set that was either inside Kong Stage at Stone Street Studios, Wellington, or out on the parking lot depending on the shot. The interiors of the ship was filmed on sets in the studio with green screen for the port holes and windows.

    The building that Kong climbs up is The Empire State Building which exist in New York. At the time of the original King Kong, Merian C Cooper was thinking of either using The Chrystler Building or The Woolworth Building as Empire State was still under construction. It was when Empire State were finished that he decided on to make it the building because it was the tallest building (at the time, it has been eclipsed by the original World Trade Center decades later) in the world.

    Kong Skull Island is not connected to the 2005 film, rather it is a part of the Monsterverse which includes the Godzilla movies. Godzilla 2014, Kong Skull Island, Godzilla King of the Monsters, Godzilla vs Kong. You don’t NEED to watch Godzilla 2014 for Skull Island, but just keep in mind they have no real ties to the Peter Jackson movie.

  • @mevb

    The movie is set during The Great Depression which lasted from 1929, when the Wall Street stock market crash, to 1939, which caused many people to lose their jobs and business went down, caused thousands to become unemployed. People got mass evicted as they were unable to pay the rent and most of them lived in shacks at either the docks or at Central Park, called Hoovervilles, named after President Herbert Hoover who was unable to prevent all this from happening or to help the people back on their feet. To help out the out-of-work people, organistations had soup kitchens where they could get soups and biscuits, though they went out of business pretty quickly. The year 1933, when King Kong was released, it was the height of The Great Depression.

    The reason that Herb the Camera Man didn't climb was because he couldn't, he has a tin leg. It's not obvious in the regular version but in the extended version, after an encounter with a ceratops, you can see Herb lift up his right leg with his arm in order to get over a log since he has a false leg. In a deleted scene he shows tinkering with a spare tin leg onboard The Venture and he tells that he lost his leg to a sea lion when filming one (and it also crushed his testicles in a strong hint when Lumpy cracks a walnut with a nut cracker shaped like a woman's legs). It would have been better if they kept that part so it was more obvious that Herb couldn't climb because of it.

    The fact that at the start bottles of alchol are smashed on the ground, a destiller being destroyed and Carl Denham smuggles aboard whiskey in a case of lemonade, shows the movie is set during the probation when it was illegal to make or sell liquior, as a way to improve moral and decrease crime. The irony was that it only increased crime as people wanted to have a drink and sneaked to hidden bars, which would either be shut down by the police once discovered, or if they were corrupted, they would be bribed into not shutting them down. This would also be a benefit for gangsters who'd make alcohol and sell it illegally, funding for their criminal organastions.

    This is a phenomenal remake. And I won't lie, it made me chuckle when you asked if the Empire State Building was an actual building lol. But I understand the question as you're not an American. The Empire State Building is one of the most iconic skyscrapers in New York. In the 1933 film, Kong climbs up it as well. In the 1976 remake, he climbs up the World Trade Center instead as the WTC was a more iconic set of buildings and taller.

    This and minus one in my opinion are perfect adaptations of the original films, and the monsterverse is just the best mix of fun and action in my opinion, this and 1998 Godzilla were my favorite as a kid

    King Kong 2010 is somewhere in my Top 10 films of all time. I watch it every year and it’s an experience I wish I saw in theaters in 2005, but I couldn’t because I was 5 years old😂. Hopefully on its 20th anniversary next year, they’ll re-release it in theaters. Also this film is better that Kong Skull Island.

    In universe this is taking place in the early 1930’s. CGI didn’t exist at the time, and Stop Motion was most probably bloody expensive.

    This movie completely destroyed me once they took my baby Kong to America. Exactly why i hate people and how they treat animals. Honestly cried so badly watching the end of this movie, broke my heart into tiny pieces. 💔 Animals have always been a soft spot for me, especially apes in particular. I hated Jack Black so much after this movie lol, yes King Kong definitely made himself an easy target by climbing up the empire state building but he simply just wanted to be with her, died for her.

    The reason why it is in this film is because in the original 1933 king king movie there was going to be a similar scene but most of it was lost except a couple stills because back in that day and age they destroyed deleted scenes rather than save them due to low amounts of storage and many studio fires.

    The Kong and Godzilla films are called the Monsterverse. I highly recommend you watch them in release order, starting with Godzilla (2014), then watch Kong: Skull Island. Afterwards, watch Godzilla: King of the Monsters then Kong vs. Godzilla. 🤔
