Fun fact about Indy shooting the sword guy in the market fight: originally it was supposed to be one big choreographed fight. However on the day for that take, most of the crew, including Harrison Ford, had dysentery. So Harrison walked up to Spielberg and was like, "Can't I just f***ing shoot him?" Spielberg loved the idea and the rest is history.

Because Ford had diarrhea and they had to film the scene the way it is now.

I am glad you watched this now and liked it... Because in season 7 of TBBT, Sheldon makes Amy watch it and Amy... has some comments that I won't spoil here, but it's fun watching Sheldon's brain melt!

This series is so much fun. 😄 Especially the first three films; solid storytelling.

The guy in the opening who was in South America with Indiana was played by Alfred Molina, who you might know from Spider-Man 2 as Doc Ock. This movie was his first performance, and the scene where he’s covered in tarantulas was his first day on set. Brutal!

Fun fact: I didn’t get into this series until High School, when I did a Social Studies project on it.

This movie was actually a throwback to the films they did in the 30' and 40's when it was originally done, so it was unique even in the time of its release way back in 81

OHHH I LOVE INDIANA JONES!! 🤠 He has always been my most favorite childhood hero, and that I NEVER grow-up with STAR WARS because I was more of an Indiana Jones fan.

1:56 A whole new meaning to “pistol whip.”

This is my step-grandfather’s favorite movie😊He likes the part where Indy rubs through the card, comes face to face with a dude swinging swords and then Indy shoots him dead😊

Gonna be real fun when Cody gets to the episode of Big Bang Theory that talks about this movie lol

Professors can go on sabbaticals to do research usually relating to their field, although probably not as often as Indiana leaves. My dad used to write papers on his trips which help the university in turn.

Watching your excitement over this movie has me choked up. You get to have that same feeling a lot of us had when it first became a tent pole of pop culture in the 80's. Thank you for all your hard work on these, Cody.

Great reaction! 😊 I'm so excited that you're watching the Indiana Jones movies. This is one of the best movie franchise's. Plus, you can't go wrong with Harrison Ford, Steven Spielberg as the director, and the music composed by John Williams(who does the music for the Star Wars movies). This one, and the third one "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" are my two favorite movies in this series. 17:40 Fun Fact: This scene when Indy shoots the swordsman was originally not in the script. It was supposed to have been a gun fight. But when it came time to shoot the scene, Harrison Ford(and a lot of the cast and crew except for director Steven Spielberg) had food poisoning. And Harrison Ford thought just to shoot the swordsman. And it became one of the most iconic scenes in the movie. 37:09 As many times as I've seen this movie this is the one scene that I still can't watch. Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊

I remember watching the entire film trilogy on NBC back in the 90's! These are very fun films to watch! Nominated for 8 Oscars including Best Picture but won for Best Sound Editing Best Visual Effects Best Film Editing Best Costume Design Best Sound Mixing. It made $430 million dollars against a $18 million dollar budget. Jack Nicholson, Warren Beatty, Ryan O'Neal, Dustin Hoffman, Martin Sheen, Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, Nick Nolte, Kurt Russell, Jeff Bridges Nick Mancuso, Tim Matheson, Peter Coyote, and Richard Dreyfuss were considered for the role of Indiana Jones until Harrison Ford was cast. Barbara Hershey, Carrie Fisher, Amy Irving, Sean Young, Stephanie Zimbalist, Barbara Streisand, and Debra Winger were considered for the role or Marion. It was 110 degrees in Tunisia Africa where they filmed the first Star Wars movie. Half the cast and crew got food poisoning except for Ford and Speilberg whom ate Spaghetti O's and PBJ Sandwiches. They filmed the climax at Elstree Studios, London England. The sound effects for Indy's gun is that of a .30-30 Winchester Rifle. The punch sounds are that of someone hitting a pile of leather jackets with a baseball bat. The sounds of the spirits coming out of Ark are that of Dolphins Seals, and sea lions, played backwards or sped up to make them sound otherworldly. The film was a box office and critical success.

Speaking of John Rhys-Davies, he also played as Aladdin’s father, Cassim in Aladdin and the King of Thieves

2:45 "That's a lot of them" Alfred Molina, troubled by spiders on the silver screen since 1981.

I was fortunate to have seen this in a sneak preview at Grauman's Chinese Theater about 2 weeks before it was released. I saw the ad in the newspaper and all it said was it was a movie from the creator of Star Wars and the director of Jaws. There had been no pre-publicity so no one knew what it was about. Needless to say, the place was packed and when it ended, there was so much cheering and stomping feet, it felt like the theater walls would collapse. Truly one of the most enjoyable times I had at the movies.

I LOVE Indiana Jones thankyou for this movie reaction of it. I LOVE It. I actually got all the Indiana Jones movies all on blu ray.

LOL. a lot of people, when they see this for the first time and they realize John Rhys-Davies is in it, they say, "Hey look! Gimli!" the first time I saw Lord of the Rings, I said, "Hey! Salah!"

One of the things I remember the most from this movie is this. Belloq: “Your persistence surprises even me!” *Eats fly-*

"I thought the fly was gonna crawl in his mouth." It did!

This movie has been ranked by the AFI as one of the greatest action movies/thrillers of all time. I own a very worn DVD copy of this movie, and I love watching it!

This is one of my favorite Indiana Jones films ever made!!!

How is that so the Indiana Jones The Raiders Of The Lost Ark came out in 1981. Indiana Jones And The Temple Of The Doom came out in in 1984 3 years later after the first one.

if you do the math on the character/actor ages, Indy was hooking up with Marion when he was in his early 20s and she was like FIFTEEN at best.

This is one of my all time favorite movies. This was a big part of my childhood. Love it!!

36:45 Only people specifically chosen by God can open and look into the Ark. Anyone else who does will die. That's why all that happened to the Nazis. It's in the Bible, in the Book of 1 Chronicles 13:9-10, while the David and his followers (they were on the run from King Saul at the time because he wanted to kill David who God said would be the next king) were transporting the Ark to a new location, only certain selected people were aloud to carry and touch the Ark. One of the oxen holding of the Ark slipped and someone instinctivly tried to catch the Ark. The second he touched it, he died. He just dropped dead. So yeah that's why the Nazis died when they opened the Ark: they defied God.

Harrison Ford preceded this with the first two Star Wars films, then followed up with Return of the Jedi. Other films starring Karen Allen include Animal House and The Sandlot. The actor playing Salah, John Rys Davies, had two starring roles in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. This was followed up with Temple of Doom, The Last Crusade, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and the upcoming Dial of Destiny

I watched this movie for the first time when I was around 10, and the scene where the Nazis opened the Ark scared the absolute CRAP out of me! The bit where Toht's face melted had me in tears for the last five minutes of the movie, and I never watched it again after that! If I ever watch this movie again, I'm following Indy's advice and keeping my eyes shut!

After seeing you get PTSD from Lenard having an accidental discharge into his leg (you were in the army so I know you know what an accidental discharge is), I hope you went into this movie prepared and it didn't catch you off guard.

"We always want to touch stuff we shouldn't be touching" Which started his problems with Marion.

In my opinion, the movie had some flaws but was entirely satisfying, and also my childhood. Also, first!

I like The Crystal Skull. It’s not my favorite Indy film, but it’s not as bad as the negative reviews say.

Fun fact: There's a submachine gun carried by several German soldiers in this movie called an MP40. In real life it was first built in 1940 (hence the name) but this movie is set in 1936. A small inaccuracy but an interesting one too

Pretty sure the end of this movie is where they got the idea for the tv series Warehouse 13, a warehouse filled with mystical artifacts. Also where they got the main concept for The Librarian movie trilogy and tv show.

The fact that I actually said “there are cats in Cairo” out loud just gets me

That scene where he shot the "Boss" guy he was supposed to have a big fight with him but Harrison Ford was tired so he shot him and they kept it in the final cut.

Ok so fun fact. The scene where he shoots the guy with the sword was actually improvised. Harrison Ford fell ill during this. They had a 3 day shoot planned for an amazing battle between them but Harrison Ford quite literally came up with the idea and told the director, "Do we really have to do this? Can't I just shoot this guy" And that's how they got a bit ahead of schedule and gave us all a very funny scene to laugh at!!

Amazing movie, temple of doom is pretty good, last crusade is my personal favorite, kingdom of the crystal skull on its own it’s fine but compared to the original 3 not so much hopefully the new one is good because I think the new one is gonna be Harrison fords last time as Indiana Jones
