    This is genius and perfect timing, as I found a sock pattern in a book last week that I want to knit. I was racking my brain trying to figure out if I could scan it into a PDF, but this method is so much easier! Thank you so much.

    I have just tried to put google drive on my Amazon Fire Kindle. Got the drive on the kindle and that is it, plus button to click on to get any further. Looked things up and you need Google play store? I think you need to download this before you can go any further. I cant seem to get the play store on my kindle

    Thank you so much for these tutorials. I like the way you go step by step with the visuals. I downloaded the free version. Like you say it's a game changer. When I do the magazine transfer of black and white chart it's washed out, but if it's in other colors like green and white, it's a sharp image. Have you run into this problem with Android? My niece came over with her iPhone and the black and white chart was sharp.

    When I download a file on tablet, it goes into a different directory. With the latest release, I can no longer navigate to that directory. What is the directory name that Android uses? I don't know where I need to put the file and I am not getting the open with dialog from My Files.

    Thank you Stacie for answering question about putting pattern from a book into KC. I have a question about an ebook with multiple patterns. I have an android and purchased Making Magazine which I have put into KC. Is there a way of separating patterns so you can have only one pattern open at a time. Thanks so much.

    I did find the answer on the website. There is a way to just pick the pages you want when you create a project on KC by deselecting all pages and rechecking just the pages you want. Then you are prompted to name and save project. I did make a copy of the full magazine before I did this just to make sure I didn't lose anything. I appreciate your videos so much.

    What Apple or IOS based tablet would be the best to get to run knitCompanion? I don't see any suggestions on their website. I remember your video of the giveaway of the Apple tablet when kC first started. But that link doesn't work anymore. Kb or Mgb size storage or RAM size would be helpful. Thanks so much.

  • @verypinkknits

    Any new iPad will run kC just fine...I think the only danger (with any device) is buying an older, refurbished model that no longer takes updates. KC doesn't use a lot of storage or memory...I don't think you need any specific storage or RAM. If you're still unsure, you can contact kC directly for support - support@knitcompanion.com.

    Question - I have both an Android tablet and and iPad. Will I be able to transfer (via Dropbox or Google) a pattern that I've already set up in my iPad to my Android tablet or are they not compatible because they are different platforms? I suppose I could try it, but I thought I'd post my question here in case someone else is curious too. Thank you so much for your videos. They are very helpful!

    I believe you can, using the technique I demonstrate in this video using Dropbox to save projects. There are some features in Apple that aren't available in Android yet. If you use one of those features in Setup, you'll get a popup box telling you that using that/those features will keep you from opening the project on an Android device. So yes - you can save projects in Dropbox and open them on either platform, unless/until you use features in the iOS Setup.

    Is there a specific way to finish off a project? So when I've finished all my knitting, can I mark the KC project as finished?

  • @verypinkknits

    @verypinkknits

    I don't think that kC marks that...you can delete the project or delete the PDF from kC, but I don't think there is a way to mark it as a finished knit. If you would like to reach out to kC directly, you can get support at support@knitcompanion.com.

    Hi...question...is there a copyright issue when it comes to copying a pattern out of a magazine to KnitCompanion? Just curious! I tend to use an Android and glad that you covers many of my questions. Thank you.

  • @verypinkknits

    @verypinkknits

    3 жыл бұрын

    No, there is no issue with that. If you are using something personally, and not distributing it to others, you can put any pattern you have in books or magazines into knitCompanion. The only time copyrights get in the way is if you are sharing things you've purchased with others.

    I use knit companion all the time. I have pdfs saved in my Google drive. The only patterns I can't use knit companion for are the ones I have copied & pasted to MSWORD. Its not a problem as Word I can access from all my devices. I don't usually use my laptop for patterns anymore but sometimes I do as I have patterns saved there that I haven't uploaded to Drive (lazy me - lol).

    @@cydnicaldwell1337 no, I mean you can without an Adobe subscription. If you open the word doc in Android, tap the three dots and then "share as PDF" and you can open it directly in Knit Companion. If you're on a PC just "save as" and you have the option to save it as a PDF.

    You don't have to do anything to "finish" a project in knitCompanion. You can just tap the "x" in the upper-left corner to close out the project, so you can open a new one. Or, on the projects or PDF pages, you can tap the three little dots on the icon for the pattern and select the trash icon if you're ready to remove the pattern from kC.
