Kitbashing a Walker diorama for Beyond the Blight feat. TZ Audio Stellar X2

Ойын-сауық

For decades she’s roamed the coast on her trusty shallow strider, and while the business for traveling merchants has dried up, she's discovered a novel resource...
Join me on this extensive kit bashing project, starting with a watercolor concept painting, then progressing to the physical build (with model kits, toys, and plenty of odds and ends) and paint job. I also provide a brief update on my upcoming Beyond the Blight novel.

Thanks. I know 3D printing isn't for everyone, and I don't enjoy it nearly as much as scratch building and kit bashing, but I feel it's so useful in supplementing the builds, especially with smaller, specialized pieces.

As a modeler, I have no issue with anyone creating their own files to 3d print. It's no different than finding pre-made parts for a kit bash. Making a model with found pieces versus making a model from scratch using your imagination is always going to be more interesting. The beauty of a build comes from the overall design, and not the parts it is sourced from. The only limit is imagination.

Even with the darkness of the 'water', this turned out amazingly - the little details just barely visible in the shallows, with all the details on the strider, it's all so good. And the tiny details in the story, too, like the Pod acting like a lost and confused puppy when it doesn't have a purpose is adorable, and a little sad. It's clear the people of this universe have made some stunning advancements in artificial intelligence, and then forgotten how magical those advancements are. I can't wait for your book to come out ^^

The kitbashed, grungy, scavanged look is what defines star wars and it's one of my favourite aesthetics to look at. But especially this one you're using, where the in-universe builders tried to create something reasonably straight lined and symmetrical, not not toally wonky. And shear rather than rotate for adjusting those angles with constant width!!

The water my friends… a mech is in a moving situation no? Right! In this case you have to leave on the water superficial the Splash movements and much important, the circular line from the legs. And the best addition is the water flushing down from the moving leg. For the rest I love your channel and I learn a lot of building strategies from you. Nice! Thanks and hallo from Sicily! I’ll give you a great piece of advice that I learned from somewhere in this interconnected universe of video that has helped me out in my current situation of kitbashing a Boss miniature for a game that I’m currently working on. I also have some cheap toys with the same ‘rubbery’ plastic that is difficult to glue together but the solution is quite easy and you only need two ingredients, superglue and baking soda. Something happens when you add these two together which creates an instant bond and on the plus side it can also look like a welding effect if applied carefully. I love this world you have created and am going to continue watching this video. Hopefully this tip will help you in future projects if need be 👍

Yes, I use superglue and baking soda, but my meaning was more that it is difficult to get a good finish on those rubbery plastic pieces. Gluing it to stuff is usually ok though!

@@gameyybuilds Yeah I know what you mean but fortunately in my case for my kitbash it’s not an issue because the miniature I’m building is a cyborg and for the finished details I’m not so much concerned with clean “welding lines” Rolling forward on his/it’s mono wheel, a conglomeration of twisted metal and mutated flesh, this monstrosity is hell bent on eliminating the Crew that has intruded upon the ship that was tasked to him/it to defend or be destroyed in the process. I do believe that I’m mostly finished with my build but every time I look at it to begin painting I think 🤔 maybe I should add something else and then the process of building begins again 🤷‍♂️ One day I’ll maybe finish building and start painting… maybe 🤔

Excellent work; both the model and the story it represents! You bring up an interesting point at 11:20, about the nature of scratch building. I just turned 64, and have been model building for over half a century. I'm definitely a product of the Shep Paine school of "Creative Gizmology," and was also very influenced by the professional modelers at Industrial Light and Magic, who famously mined commercially available model kits for their detail "greeblies" when creating the "Star Wars" universe. It occurs to me that what you are doing is yet another iteration of this tradition. But instead of combing the model railroad detail parts section and plastic model kits from the armor section of your local hobby shop, you are doing this process digitally from a wide range of shapes available online that you then adapt and combine before printing them out to make what you want for your projects. And you are not completely abandoning the "old ways" - your technique (and the techniques of many KZread craftspeople) is to take the best of these model building methods to produce the best, most imaginative model / diorama possible. This latest entry in your "Beyond the Blight" series is case and point. Keep building, and Happy Modeling!

Brooooooo!!!!! I'm so excited about the book!!!!! Seriously can't wait to hear about the little baby! I'm assuming here haha. Also, I just recently read a book called "yanked". The narrator sounded just like you and it's a sci Fi about time travel in space.. so cool. I actually was going to message you and ask if you narrated it. Dude I have to let you know that your crafting channel is by far the best on KZread. The number of tools and different tactics that you use to create a model is so fascinating. I love how you delve into kit bashing, clay modeling and sculpting, 3D printing, woodwork, and painting. And then on top of all of that you managed to create a very intriguing and enticing story. Also the music is just spectacular every single episode. You just do a good job my dude. Thanks for sharing your craft with me and my family
