Your stories are so sadly beautiful. Amazing how you gave the AI a simple morality system that perpetuated into his sentience. Another great story would be from the other angle of the same event. The humans try to learn why the lighthouse suddenly malfunctioned but they never realize that the lighthouse chose to do it.

Its great to see someone using clay and painting rather than resin for waves. Those waves are awesome.

Thanks! Yeah I wanted to try something different here, and realized I could achieve a much greater level of detail with clay than with resin. Also wanted something more opaque and less “glassy” looking.

I was very surprised at how nice the UV resin worked for the waves. I know there are other products out there to represent water, but I think you made the right choice here going with the resin. Not sure it would have looked as good using anything else. 👍👍
Why do your stories always make me cry? I hope you're watching schnee's work on analyzing Arcane. He has some terrific stuff about storytelling. If you haven't, take a dip. You won't regret it!

I second the comments about using clay for the water! Really cool seeing alternative techniques to the ones we always see. Also, the paintjob on the water is 10/10.

I wasn't too sure about the clay ocean, but once it was painted up it looked great.
"apparently, they do not float" made me giggle. Also, you did a phenomenal job with the water in this.
Fantastic video and amazing story, it's really cliché to have an A.I. become sentient and decide humans are evil, but the fact the thinks so logically and decides "this ship would probably hurt more people than the casualties" and let's them hit the rocks is so cleaver.

Thanks. I wanted the AI in this story to have very limited control; it's a binary lever: on or off. If the light is left on, an unspecified number may die. If the light goes off, a finite, knowable number will die. It's my take on the trolley problem, and inspired by AI-driven cars that must be programmed with a similar decision-making process.
FARC I LOVE YOU?? I'm so bummed they probably didn't make it through their intervention. Came for the builds, stayed for the builds, but also for the stories. You're an incredible writer.
A truly underrated channel. Great builds and story

The ending to you story! off on switching from on off. I must say the stories might be my favorite part, and I came for the building.
A lighthouse so smart they got an existential crisis. Those waves are incredible! Beautiful open-ended story, for a moment I imagined how they decide payload will cause too much harm and leave the light off, letting the ship collide with the island and explode...
I love Farc, such a lovely boy, I wish him the best

I just watched all 11 videos of beyond the blight and must say it was an absolute blast binging them these past couple days. I love the animal and droid combos and love the world building! Loved how you tied in some of the videos! How did you come up with your language and is there a way I can see the full alphabet? Can’t wait for more and I’ll definitely keep myself busy by watching your other videos
@gameyybuilds
Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Aegesian is not an alphabet-based language, but rather a character-based language, similar to Chinese. Each character is made of radicals (character parts) that convey different nuances to combine into a word meaning. For example, there is a small cross radical found in the upper right of some characters that turns them from a verb into a noun and is pronounced with a sharp "t" at the end of the sound. So "hissa" meaning "to crawl", becomes "hissat", meaning "one which crawls". (That is where the cave creature gets its name.) While I don't put up the characters for all the things I mention in the videos, I record everything on a document on my computer. All of the place names, character names, and machine names have logical meanings, though unmentioned.

@@gameyybuilds I see… how did you get the inspiration for the Aegisian language? I love the characters
@gameyybuilds
Жыл бұрын
@@pirateofthepacific9687 I knew early on that I didn’t want English words or anything else too familiar, so that meant coming up with something brand new. It also helps to have a bank of verbs and adjectives when coming up with names for places and machines. It’s extra work now, but will make the whole thing richer and more cohesive in the end.

Dude, you are a true renasisanse man, creating your own language on top of the incredible storytelling, world-building as well as the model/diorama building. 🙏 Not to mention the video creation side of things, is there something you're not good at??? You sir are a true master at ALL that you do.
I really Connect with the story I am in rehab right now, for a back surgery and sometimes it can get a little lonely. Thanks for making a cool video for me to watch , i’ll be out of rehab on Friday. and hopefully my first custom car build video will be out soon after that.

Loved this build! The beacon motif in the panels is such a cool idea, that those who built this lighthouse, this extremely utilitarian structure wanted this object not just to be functional, but beautiful, symbolic, and perhaps viewed with some reverence. The story very much reminds me of "My Job is to Open and Close Doors" by Mattias Pilhede and Sai Cheung.
Truly entertaining to listen to the stories behind the models.. Look forward to the next one!!

Thanks! I’m working on the novelization of this series now. I’ll do an audiobook once it’s complete.
The physical objects created in these videos are quite obviously works of art themselves, but what amazes me is the attention to every layer that makes up the whole. The audio backing, the choices made in what stages of the crafting to show, the care for his world when a short story is written, the pathos infused in the telling of that short story. This is all art. And personally I find that the whole somehow comes out to be even greater than the sum of its parts.
Those waves!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Another outstanding build. Your back stories are as fine as your model building.

This is hands down spectacular, the story is icing on the cake.
I've recently found your videos because I've been looking for inspiration for my own diorama. But I've become obsessed with your videos. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE your story that goes along with them. I like in Oregon. I work in the Columbia George. After watching this video I feel like maybe you could find some inspiration in the Columbia George. But more specifically, the native fishing platforms. In my opinion they are awesome and VERY inspirational
That was a pretty Farc-ing awesome build! ...and story!!!

Love your videos and the short stories 📛 really inspired me to be better with my terrain making. More narratives. Also youtube stopped sharing your videos with me because they are butts
I just started watching your videos from the start and I must say that this one is so far the best. You stepped everything up in this. The story. The waves. The build. Well done man! Pumped for the next ones!
Honestly, the build, the quality of your production and your storytelling are, to say the least absolutely sublime! You're the best Kitbashing channel on YT imo. I enjoy all of your videos so much. Just pure, wholesome enjoyment and your love for world building and the superb craftsmanship is beyond this world!
You sir are a master-class level creator! Awesome build, i love the lighthouse, it looks both old and high-tech (not an easy thing to acomplish). I was seriously surprised at how you used the UV resin for the waves. I don't think the typical modeling "water" products would give the same effect, it looks amazing! As always with your BtB builds/videos, I was touched by the great storytelling. I hope that you migrate this world into other media (i.e. books, video games, rpg, etc.). Currently working my way through the Blight playlist and looking forward to the next one. Keep on keeping on good sir!!

Also you are hilarious I was looking that your old videos they were so funny but the best was the Mario one with them lyrics. But you are just very talented.
Have you tried simple contact cement on XPS foam? Since it's the go-to solution for EVA foam sheets in cosplay costume making, it might work here as well. Apply the stuff as a thin layer on both surfaces, wait a few minutes until it feels dry/tacky and press the bits together. The connection kicks off rather quickly, to the point where everything else will tear under mechanical impact before that connection surface fails again.
Bro you should hire someone to make these videos into a game like it'd be a very good game probably would get more downloads than Minecraft
