KING JAMES II: The Last Catholic Monarch of England- How He Looked in Real Life- Mortal Faces

King James II of England, Scotland and Ireland's Portrait Recreation to see how he might have looked in real life. I transform his portraits from young to old using my Photoshop skills. James II was the last Catholic Monarch of England and was overthrown by his Protestant daughter and son-in-law William of Orange in the Glorious Revolution. Since then Protestants have ruled England.
Succession goes as: King Charles I-- Charles II (son 1)-- James II (son2)-- Mary (daughter), Anne (sister), George I (cousin).
James II had a son who was brought up as Catholic James Stuart. His line begins the Jacobite Succession Crisis after James II dies. (Jame's reign is known as the Jacbite era).

I presume you mean Roman Catholic not Anglo Catholic. I feel the Romans ruined the Christian religion. Remember Christians in early time were not Roman Catholic. Celtic Christians were very different from the later Roman Catholic Church. I am so glad that the Church of England returned Christianity to the people. As an former Catholic nun once said to me she was to busy being a good Catholic she stopped being a Christian.

Certainly not. Catholicism was a barrier to prosperity.

We need to put this fear of catholacism into context. The Catholic Church of the 17th century bore little resemblance to the church we know today. The inquisition was very much alive and well in Europe and it was only 100 years earlier that Bloody Mary had burned thousands of prodestants at the stake for heresy. A practice that was still going on in Spain and parts of the Holy Roman Empire. It’s not surprising that the English were terrified of the prospect of a catholic monarch.

@@QPRTokyo Anglo catholic = not catholic. You separate yourself from Rome and deny the supremacy of the Pope, you are outside Catholicism. Ignoring the rest of your anti-Catholic comments and inaccurate distortion of history.
