    My service/salesman wrote on the salt barrel lid "Importantly add 0.7 liters of citric acid for every 25kg of salt" This was to keap the filtermedia in the tanks stay clean for a long time. My filtermedia looks like new, despite lots of iron and manganese.

    Hi Kasey. I'll TRY to be brief. Have a cottage used maybe 12 days spread out a year. No laundry or dishwasher, let's say 3 person usage, dishes, hands, toilet, 10 showers TOTAL a year. Hard, (~17gpg) well water, UV filter, septic system. Getting rid of Cullegan exchange tank water softener. Considering Kinetico, really EVERYTHING. Understand "K" is usage controlled refresh, not timer, but learned from your videos you can force things w/ screwdriver control on top. QUESTIONS... Any recommendations? If system is shut down while away, will that ruin resins? Prefer to shutdown pump while away in case something freezes, but could put in shutoffs to in house lines and allow pump to run. Water equipment in heated garage. Wondered if resin ions dissipate over long NO usage periods. IDEAS please ! Thanks, ...Rich

    Hi Casey, thank you so much for these informational videos on the Kinetico systems and their maintenance tips. Do you know the model/type of the prefilter wrench? I got a house with the kinetico system and need to change the prefilter but can't find the wrench anywhere. Thanks

    Just need an expert opinion I have a kenetico model 30 installed in 1993 qnd been out of service for 10 yrs. It was installed to run on potassium salt and i would like to put it back in service on regular salt. When it was 1st installed they removed the salt grid plate so do i need a grid plate and do I have to readjust float height??

    I'm realize this video is over a year old, but I've just been charged with looking after my nephew's widow's Kinetico system. For the life of me I can not find a part number for the pre-filter replacement cartridges. I've watch your other video on replacing it with a disposable one, but I simple can't find anything on line the "looks" correct. The one in her system looks identical to the one you installed in your other video. Thanks

    Can you do a video on how to change out the resin in each of the Kenetico tanks? Also, is there a certain resin to purchase for a house that’s on well water? Thx

    Is there a solution that we should be adding to the salt tank when it’s empty? Someone from kinetico added something when the salt compartment was empty

  • @gvanhove

    Uh dude... you should edit this to tell everyone NOT to allow the salt to completely dissolve in the brine tank. Otherwise you risk the possibility of having one or both resin tanks not getting enough salt water to get the chemical reaction going. This will end up causing the entire house to not have soft water until salt is added and a regeneration is completed. I usually let my salt level get down to about where yours is in this video and then use a broom stick to break the salt bridge. I then add only one bag of salt. Get a long enough stick that will extend from the floor to beyond the top of the brine tank and wrap a piece of tape around the stick at the point where the stick clears the top of the brine tank. This will give you some assurance that you've pretty much broken the bridge. It will only take 2 weeks after a regen for a bridge to form.

    Most residential units use 4 pounds of salt at most per regeneration. If there is salt in the “cones” at the bottom of the salt tank that’s enough for a few regenerations.

    Depends on the number of occupants in the home. Typically speaking anything less than 2 people in the home I recommend filling it up halfway and letting it drop all the way down before filling up again. If there are 4+ you can go ahead and fill it up all the way.

    Most common issue would be water running somewhere in the house like a sticking toilet or burst pipe, if the level 1 needs replaced it will constantly run through regeneration cycles and will never stop, and finally if the brine valve is stuck it can cause the salt tank to over fill with water and dissolve your salt down the overflow of the salt tank.

    thanks for posting. just curious, what does your pressure gauge show for municipal water?

  • @kaseysirak

    @kaseysirak

    3 жыл бұрын

    I have a gauge both before and after my pressure regulator. The pressure coming in straight from the city is 100psi which is too high for just about every appliance in a normal home including the water softener. So I have it turned down to roughly 65-70 psi after my pressure regulator which is on the higher side for a home. Typically speaking most homes are somewhere between 40 and 70 psi

    Should you use salt pellets or crystals?

  • @m0hoosier

    I was told pellets only and to layer Tannin Rid as the salt is being added, which is a citric acid powder that I pick up from my local Kinetico dealer. I’m on a water well so not sure everyone needs this? I would ask them when you are there

    Thats not all there is! What about the monthly bleach sanitizing?

  • @kaseysirak

    @kaseysirak

    2 жыл бұрын

    I’m not familiar with a monthly bleach sanitizing. I also would not recommend adding any bleach to the brine tank unless you plan on rinsing it out very well. Depending on the strength of the bleach it could damage the resin.
