    Excellent Video. I had to clean mine because the Morton Brand pellets yellow bag turn to mud now. They cheapened it up and raised the price. I switched to another brand Crystal clear now.

    Just an FYI. I just spoke with TLC and verified that if you have an older model it may not have that grid plate in it. That's something they started doing about 7 years ago. (7 years from 2022)

    @TLCPlumbingHVACElectrical ROBERT, Thank you SO MUCH for teaching me all these things, in such a clear & concise manner! Now I have an understanding as to why my Kinetico overflowed, leaving a salt flat in my garage and part of my interior home...it hasn't had regular maintenance done in the nine years I've been here (I was unaware they needed maintenance). Well, done!

    Thank you so much, SO helpful. Question.... at the 53 second mark, after you have pulled the float out, there is a flex line connection that is leaking.... mine is leaking in this exact same spot too.... any suggestions to fix the leak at that connection point, I can't seem to muscle it tighter, is there a tool I should be looking for?

    TLC, I have a model 50. The lower end of the float valve assembly where you indicate (at 00:38) the "brine water will draw" is solid plastic. There is no hole. The problem I have is the system dumps fresh water out the overflow and does not draw from the brine tank with a manual regen. The float works and shuts off the water but the level doesn't drop during Brine Rinse. If there is a hole at the point you indicate it will allow water to constantly enter the tank because a hole there bypasses the float shut-off valve.

    This helpful. One question: are the 7-3/4" and 8-3/4" measurements for Na and K true for all Kinetico brine tanks? Mine is a large round tank, about 18" X 3 ft. (so not like the one in video), but the valve/float mechanism looks the same as in the video. Does this depend on the model of softener? Not in your area unfortunately and just acquired this softener (2060S OD with a "5" gear installed) through home purchase and am switching to KCl. Black thing under float is cut so that "G" is top level. Can't find manual online that gives this info; not in manual for softener. Thanks

    Thanks for the great video Robert. My question is, is it ok to reuse dirty-looking brine? My Kinetico is one of those big round tanks but inside was the same pump. When I poured out my brine it was a disgusting shade of dark brown. I cleaned everything up and soaked the pump in hot water. After letting the old brine settle a while I poured one bucket's worth through a sieve and reused it, pouring it over new salt, otherwise I put in fresh water until the pump stopped. Now it's going through a recharging cycle. Fingers crossed!

    Thank you for the video. I never cleaned my float valve. I bought my softener in 1995 and hadn't cleaned it. I do have one other question. When the system isn't regenerating should there be pressure going to the brine tank? I can understand having pressure during the regeneration cycle because you want to replace the water you used, but have continuous pressure otherwise seems to make it at risk of overfilling the brine tank. Thanks again.

    Thank you for the video on how to clean the valve. Is there a way to take the valve apart to clean it more thoroughly and replace the washers in it? Mine doesn't click into place to open and when the tank is full it isn't completely shutting the water supply off. It takes about a day but the water level rises to the overflow. The unit is older. It froze and popped the end out at the bottom. I was able to snap it back in and I don't think it's leaking there.

    @JDGlow-i5u5 күн бұрын

    @JDGlow-i5u 3 hours ago Hello and great videos and thank you for them. I believe my softener isn't using salt. Watching your video gives me the confidence to at least review the system and take the mystery out of the device. So I'm looking at the brine tank first as I see water dripping from the quick connect from the brine tank to the siphon (sucking) hose of the head unit. I noticed crystallization around the bottom of the brine mechanism. With a lack of a better word, the bottom of the float device looks like a shoe with a heal where the ball valve and float mechanics attaches and the toe portion of the shoe where the hose connects into the top bulkhead. My question is simple; you mention at the 38 second mark about the toe area being plugged. Does the toe portion of the shoe have an opening in it other than the hose bulkhead? I took the bulkhead where the hose connects into the shoe and saw a nipple into the main plastic and if you look at the front of the shoe, it appears there is an inlet with a cross filter to which the brine could enter into the float mechanism. The hole in front had crystalized salt in it but after placing in warm water and releasing the crystalized salt, there isn't an opening to that toe area. Is there a hole or not in the toe? Can it be replaced or drilled out?

    I don't think I heard you say how often to clean the brine tank. Also is it alright to dump the brine down the sink drain? I don't think the brine tank on our kinetico had ever been cleaned in 20 years. There was built up salt on on and underneath the grate can't think of the real name. It was terrible. I'm going to have to replace the float assembly because the rod going to the float was warped and making it suck air.

    Hi, Thank you very much for the video which I followed to the letter, but the system is still not right. I have an old K30 Kinetico with the large 18x35 brine tank that I use salt. Are the settings the same for this tank. My system is no longer working correctly with very high hardness and very high TDS. I have been slowly trying to fix the problem but wondered if there are more than just two appropriate settings for the float level. I can't find a much on brine settings and water levels according to water conditions. Thanks

    Hi TLC! Have a question if you don’t mind? I purchased and never adjusted the new brine tank “Adjuster Tube Setting” or “Float Cup” setting. I have a Model 60 with #7 disc and a 36”x18” Brine tank. Do you happen to know what “Letter” is should set for the Adjuster Tube…and what “Height” I should set for the Cup? Will be truly appreciated! Thanks- Mark

    I soaked in hot water and it fixed a clog causing my hard water. But when I regenerate, it doesn’t look like any water is ever taken out of the tank. Shouldn’t it go to “empty” during regen and then fill again at the end?
