Seeing the clip of the police at the start and listening to the lyrics, the brass backing music has the same feel to my ears as some of those 70's detective programmes, especially Barnaby Jones, Mannix, Cannon, etc. It sounds even better now that I hear it again, almost 40 years after I heard it the first time. I'm almost expecting a voiceover to say; "A Quinn Martin production".

Great song ! In style I think that's a Zoot suit late 1930s/ early 40s? The girls' outfits reflect Busby Barkeley musicals of the 1930. Kid Creole (August Darnell) was a stylish act.

@@colinyoung3685 I’ll have to check him out. Checking out his Wikipedia he’s the one who came up with the great line “the revolution will not be televised”. Seems like he was way ahead of any early rappers, probably more of an influence a little later. A lot of the early rappers were more hype men to get the crowd into the party and music from the dj. From what I understand Jamaican toasting was a big influence on that. Then it evolved with real poetry.
