Describing the Kia Carnival as a family alternative to an SUV is massively underselling it. This is the top-of-the-range Platinum trim level, with the optional diesel engine.
All Carnivals have eight seats, and we’ve carried three child seats and a mountain of luggage for 6000km of everyday family rigours, from school dropoffs, to carrying bikes and grandparents on holidays.
Malcolm Flynn’s family tested this car in Australia so you can see if the Kia Carnival Platinum is the right family car for you.

    I bought a Carnival EX and I tested drive everything from Toyota Highlander to Lexus RX,GX, Sienna, Mercedes GL450, BMW X5, to Honda Pilot, etc Kia Carnival was the best decision I ever made 1 year later. I have been on road trips, it’s very smooth and luxurious, big hd screen, nice back up camera, Huge space even when 3rd row is up. I was able to fit 25 size medium size boxes with all rows down when moving, I fit 65 inch tv with a large rug etc. when I gardening I fit two 10 ft trees easily. It’s an amazing vehicle lol

    The Carnival is so good I nearly bought it last year. But some of the feature omissions were too much to bear: no auto wipers, no digital instrument panel with blind-spot video, no heads-up display. I suggest anyone interested should wait for the 2022 model-refresh later this year.

    That's same reason I didn't buy it last year. I heard they are introducing a hybrid 2023 version and then full EV in 2024. Now I don't know if I should buy the 2022 model? 🤔

    If you want to wait you can buy one now and still get to wait! Waiting is included in all trim models. But nothing waits like an EV they will take 4 to 6 years of waiting and if the US is successful in starting the next world war then we can all wait until the nuclear fallout clears.

    We love this platinum although a few things bug me. We had the 21 platinum and it had some great features that this 22 model doesn't. Last version had a much better 2nd seat stowage, it would fold up right behind front row making access to the third row a million times easier. Also the front visors in 21 had flaps that would pull out to make the visor longer. The 22 doesn't. It seems they have cut more corners in comfort to save a few dollars which is crap when your paying 75,000 for the platinum. But like the 21 version fuel economy was great. We got 1200km out of first tank but average around 950. Overall great car.

    Think your title is wrong. This is the 2021 model, not the 2022 model. The build date might be 2022, but it's identical to the 2021 release. There should be a 2022 model refresh later this year to fix all the stuff that made it to the Sorento but not the Carnival.

    For such large cars, in Poland we alternatively use more ecological and cheaper fuel. This is LPG gas. For comparison: - the cost of driving on E95 gasoline is 12 liters x $ 1.617 = $ 19.34 / 100 km, - the cost of driving on LPG is 14.5 liters x $ 0.709 = $ 10.28 / 100 km (only - this is 46.8% savings on fuel costs). In addition, this fuel emits much less poisonous compounds into the atmosphere. We try to mount an additional LPG tank under the floor of the trunk (the safest solution). In this model, Kia probably will not allow such a solution, which is unfortunate, a pity.

    I know this vid isn't new but I'm looking into buying a family car to fit me my wife and 2 toddlers with the ability to fit an adult in 2nd row now and then but also need a 6th seat for 2-5hr road trips with the grandparents. This car looks awesome but would it warrant the need for it only a handful of times a year for the trips or is it better to rent for those weekends. Renting seems like a huge hassle that's why I ask

  • @carsguide

    @carsguide

    2 ай бұрын

    If you only need a car now and then, renting is better, but if you use a car often and want it to be hassle-free and cheaper over time, owning is the way to go.

    I’ve had 2 SUV’s in the last 6 years, one being a Merc GLC. Didn’t like it. I got rid of it for a Skoda Superb wagon! Absolutely runs rings around the Merc except fuel usage is higher being petrol over diesel. That aside I’d easily contemplate the Carnival if it’s what I needed. I’ve recommended this to my sister as she has 3 grandkids to run around along with her entourage!🤣👍🏻

I have a Toyota Kluger Hybrid, and I use Active Cruise Control and Lane Centering all the time, even in the suburbs, particularly in traffic jams where you inch along. Lane Centering could be better, but it's adequate.

Nothing ? Certainly not a 7 seater SUV, or 8 seater SUV, such as Palisade. And due to Covid and semi conductor shortages, EVERY car manufacturer has massively increased their prices during last 12 months.
