Not just for people moving or even people with kids, they are the most practical vehicle on the market. The options to move dogs, cargo, materials and even people is unmatched, especially for the cost. Remove the center row seats and you have an 8 foot cargo area more than 4 feet high that you can camp in, or carry a multitude of stuff. Who cares if a van isn't 'cool'? Kia knocked the styling out of the park with this one, it looks like a stylish, large SUV that's not too high and rides like a comfortable car. If you're too vain to drive a van, you're missing out on a truly fantastic vehicle.

It’s amazing that 15 - 20 years ago the Kia Carnival Was for the “poor” families that couldn’t afford the Honda Odyssey or Toyota Tarago/Granvia. Well done Kia. Your journey in Australia has been a rag to riches story for the ages.

@@chasingcars yep last 10 years or so when got the Audi guy in has just been gang busters. Love the styling ever since. It’s like they walked out of a teen movie where the frumpy girl got a make over and now the “hot girl”

Just rented a base diesel s model for a week down in WA and covered a thousand kilometers. Gotta say Kia has done a pretty decent job & one can see the progression they've made in the past ten years. It's great they didn't skim on the active safety equipment such as the lane following and smart cruise control even on the base model. The only criticism I have is the surprisingly weak LED headlights. The first time I drove it in the dark, I thought I had the daytime running lights on by mistake. Other than that it's the heavy manual back door and the lack of keyless entry plus push button start which constantly reminds you of the base model.

Picked up my SLi today, great car and more features than you showed. Maybe you need another review

I'm planning to get this next year by that time hope they have an awd and improve the speedometer to a digital ones and have more options with the sunroof..planning to drive this beast from Melbourne to Brissy :)

Coming from a jeep cherokee and Volkswagen golf, I will say this, buy one, buy one. Awesome to drive and heaps of features. The platinum is the way to go

What was the thoughts on the comparison to the MY22 Palisade highlander. I'm currently in the market and I have not yet been able to drive the Palisade or the Carnival.

Honestly - the best looking Kia worldwide! Sorento is nice - too small for 7 people, Telliudide - nice but not even close practicality wise. Kia - please make hybrid or plug in version and send it to Europe! But don't use piano black and borrow hybrid and plug in idea from Toyota or Ford and last dream - design 2nd row again and add childseat friendly tilt.. and make this storrage behind of gear lever like in Pallisade. The result - perfect big family car on the planet!!

Love the review, but with all reviews why are presenters short? And why don't you load up the car with passengers and stuff for a ride? We need to see the car work under stressed (normal) conditions.

I like the tri colored leather seats in the kia Sedona better.

With the Staria getting AWD, can we assume the Carnival can get it in a refresh? Would it even need AWD??

I don't believe it can do AWD. It has a flat floor and isn't able to take a driveshaft. Happy to be corrected if wrong, but this car was designed as a people mover, not SUV.

Woulld still prefer the hybrid Chrysler Pacifica we get here in the States. Excellent review! Cheers from Virginia USA!

is it a paid review? You have the SLi version and you keep on sharing the inter and outer images/clips of the Platinum version as if everything is same.

I remember having an old family mover back in the day. This is a much more handsome best with a very SUV look.

There is a small digital speedo available on the trip computer, but not the full digital instrument cluster like you see on a Sorento.

Another stale comment begrudging us for accurately pointing out that Kia retuned the suspension of the Carnival for the Australian spec. Sorry man, but I've explained the reasons *why* they do it many times, so constantly complaining that we mention the fact there's an Aussie tune is… odd.

Hey woof, our roads are a bit s$&t so an “Australian tune” is very important for comfortable ride and handling. It’s on of the reasons Kia is so well loved here as they did it so well (even better than ford and Holden when built locally).

As for the model year it’s a standard naming for the ENTIRE motor vehicle industry. Generally based around September ish it switches to the new model year, hense why new models/face lifts/ spec changes come out thick and fast in 4th quarter of each year.

Wait wait wait. The 3.5l in the Sorento is NOT the same as the 3.5l in the Carnival. Sorento is Port Injection only, whereas the Carnival is Port + Direct Injection. Entirely different engines.

They're the same base engine. As you point out, the Carnival has the GDi build, the Sorento has the MPi build.

@@chasingcars"same base engine" I agree with, but in the video you say "same engine". From an editorial perspective, this is inaccurate. It's like saying the FA20 in the BRZ is the same engine as the FA20F in the WRX. They are the same "base engine", but they also have different compression ratio, bore/stroke and the "F" has a turbo...

Still not as cool as a 2 tone VW multivan

This is enough to make you consider breeding. I wonder what the diesel engines would bae like on fuel. Maybe you could do a test?

Title: Better than a Sorento or Palisade for families? Video: mentions nothing about the Palisade or an opinion about if it is better than a Sorento.. Nice click bait title. My take after testing them all back to back: The Carnival is better than a Sorento for families but the Palisade drives nicer and feels more luxurious than a Carnival BUT costs more and has subjective exterior looks.

In the intro Ponch literally says the focus of this video is on whether the Carnival is a better fit for families than SUVs that are regarded by the market as “cooler”. Pretty glass-half-empty view to suggest the title is clickbait when the entire premise of the video is “is this van better than an SUV for your family”. The video answers that. We have to appeal to search keywords - we don’t do this for free (though you receive it for free).

@@chasingcars I pay for youtube premium and other people watch KZread advertisements so I guess we pay for it in one way or another 😉. This wasn't a criticism of the review - I enjoy this channels reviews - the title mentions Palisade which is a 8 seater competitor to the Carnival in SUV form which has peaked interest in comparison requests. It would have been nice to compare the actual SUV competition to the Carnival over the smaller Sorento. 🙃.

First of all SUV are not cool everybody got one n if you mask the brand n look at the SUV in a shadow u can never tell which one is which n what brand that is! Second u say nobody buys people movers any more that’s wrong info n the people movers this person know is very limited the import Alphard overkill any of the current available people mover he mentioned and any SUV available The lately introduced Staria have a lot to learn from Toyota alphard in all aspects So this utube is not a comprehensive review of a good people mover This carnival is catching up but lose as far as space is concerned no body beats the Alphard

0:29 Since when have SUV's ever been cool? 🤣 Rock stars travel in vans not SUV's. People movers specialise in moving people. SUV's specialise in nothing. Carnival Platinum in grey with blackouts and black wheels is gangsta.

SUV's can tow, a lot of the new ish product's can't tow 2t or more. Looking at getting a Imax. Max towing was 1.5t.

I wonder if Ponch knows he has a strong gay fanbase LOL :)
