Kenya's El-Molo people: "We're worried our language will disappear"

El-Molo are Kenya’s smallest ethnic group, with around 560 people.
Although their numbers have recovered slightly in recent years, the people who live on the Komote Island of Lake Turkana fear their language could become extinct.

These disappearing languages should be preserved through books and recordings, covering their syntax, grammar, and vocabulary.

I saw a book by Mauro Tosco called The Dhaasanac Language and though the languages are not exact, they are very similar. It is said they have the same origin/root. What I noticed is that the language was preserved, VERY WELL, but you have to have a certain access to be able to read the material. You can't "buy" the book online. Another person to consider is the work of Rüdiger Köppe Verlag who studied languages from the region. The language is not lost to the world, it is lost only to its people *which is worse. For context, the entire bible is in this language so they must have been able to preserve a lot of it to be able to translate it from one language to another. Kenya (Africa in general) has absolutely NO idea the crime being done to them. I posted the names of the authors so that people can search themselves. Somebody on here will have more influence than me and maybe we'll be able to get these people their language back

Hopefully getting it down on paper will ensure more people to learn it as I was keen on finding a small foreign language to learn! Its very sad that they can’t speak in their original language.

Why does our government neglect these communities? Surely they should have access to food, water, education, security and health facilities! Some of these counties receive 1billion kenya shillings in funds!!!

El Molo is a south cushite language. It probably share loan words with Samburu due to years of mixing with samburu who speak a nilotic language.
