Gaddafi's Elite Female Bodyguards (Military Documentary) | Real Stories

Фильм және анимация

The documentary investigates the phenomenon of Gaddafi's elite female bodyguard corps and the tensions these women embody: tensions between Islam, modernisation in a nomadic society, militarist feminism and an urban dictatorship.

Let us be honest. The time Gaddafi died; Libya went on the worst downward spiral. People should stop hating Gaddafi and realize that we made a mistake for leaving him to be tortured and die miserably. The African Union did not show any support at all which is a noticeably big shame!!!

Thank you so much for this documentary. I have always been fascinated by these women. I remember when i was younger Gaddafi came to my country Senegal for our independence day and everyone was mesmerized by the female guards so beautiful feminine and strong at the same time. I suppose he made mistakes but globally he did a good job and wanted better for Lybia and Africa in general but as usual the west destroys everything unfortunately.

Gaddafi only took one wife. He divorced his first wife (from an arranged marriage before he seized power) and married his second wife rather than take 2 wives. He didn't have any documented children out of wedlock. After the rebels overran his compounds, the only videos they could find were of him being a family man, playing with his grandchildren.

@@kingsonchizi Again…Almost every Muslim country has the legal age set to 18. Child marriage is prevalent in all third-world countries due to poverty, instability, and a weak economy, among other reasons, where girls see marriage as their only way out, or their own damn mothers give them away. There are several other aspects that make Gaddafi stand out in supporting women. For instance, he had women, regardless of wearing the Hijab or not, of various ethnicities, serving as his security guards. Additionally, schoolgirls received military training on certain days to learn self-defense, and he encouraged both young men and women to study abroad by providing financial support.

That they were women is irrelevant to anything. The relevant fact is that they held themselves up to be “bodyguards”, a task they clearly weren’t up to. Gaddafi presented a violent threat to the advanced world, yet you’re claiming his supposed “bodyguards” could be expected not to anticipate the danger of “foreign interference”. As failed bodyguards and failed human beings, it would seem unlikely that they are prospering.

Here are some examples: 23:07 Fathiya's father says men and women are equal "in defending their country" with the last part omitted in the translation. He also doesn't mention colonialism but says something about God and humans. 29:45 Sabria says her specialization is in computer science NOT high level training. 53:27 Fatima's husband says bodyguarding is not mandatory NOT not important.

I once got to talk with a retired naval officer in my country (Philippines) around 20 years ago. He was an engineer by training and he was with Naval Research and Devt when he was in active service. After retiring, he joined an engineering company, and their company was one of the builders of those irrigation tunnels in Libya. They were really massive tunnels, the officer told me. Interesting to note was that, according to the officer, those tunnels had US government technical guidance.
