Johnny Gilbert is 92 and still going strong. It's unfortunate that Alex got cancer. Doctors don't know why people such as Alex develop cancer. More research needs to be done to find a cure. Many celebrities have died from Pancreatic cancer, some at even a younger age then Alex was

Yeah, I agree. While we'll get used to it eventually, it'll never be right again.

You can see and hear how much Ken misses Alex. I’m sure that Alex is looking down from heaven and beaming with pride with how the Jeopardy! team are continuing to produce original shows even without him. I wish the team all the very best. Continuing Alex’s legacy.

He and Alex actually became good friends over the years and especially since Ken began as a producer. Ken even mentioned in an interview he talked with Alex on the phone only a few days before his death.

I never thought Johnny was gonna say “guest host” honestly 😢 but it makes sense I guess

I've heard of Katie Couric, but never Alex Faust.

To everyone saying "cancel the show" you gotta remember, Jeopardy didn't start with Alex, Art Fleming hosted it in the 60s for 11 years and he was very popular with fans during his time. So much so that when the current version started some older fans had trouble accepting Alex as the new host. (Hard to believe now, but it's true). Alex was never Art and whoever hosts won't be Alex let's all give the next host a chance and we'll learn to love him or her in time. Besides look how many long running shows changed hosts and ate still going: the price is right, wheel of fortune (Chuck Woolery did it before Pat),the current Family Feud has been around since '99 and its on its 4th host in that time.

Ken Jennings has saved Jeopardy! from going downhill without Alex Trebek.

Having heard countless podcasts with Jennings, he is a good souled, well humored candidate for successor- he certainly knows the format and has the personality to keep the shows spirit alive . Of course no one can replace Trebek, but he would want the show to carry on.

I keep repeating 0:00-0:05 because it sounds weird not hearing "Alex...Trebek!" anymore.

Ken looks so sharp!

Although it will be hard to see a new chapter without Alex, I’m still excited to see Ken as the temporary host 🙌 Wishing Ken good luck on continuing the Jeopardy show! It’ll be strange but am willing to give Ken a chance 🌟

Especially since 1984, only one episode has not been hosting by Alex: a 1997 April Fool's show hosted by Pat Sajak.

It is so weird hearing Johnny saying "Here is the guest host of Jeopardy! Ken Jennings." It must of been hard for him after working with Alex Trebek for almost 4 decades. Hopefully Ken will do a great job as the guest host and make Alex proud as he looks down from above.

He could be a possibility but he is a consulting producer on Sonys lot, however he only hosted 10 shows for guest hosting along with Katie Couric Levar Burton Mike Richards & someone else, but no replacement will be named until after Spring, rotation of guests hosts will be fine.

I'm not so sure. Ken is smart to be sure but he's not a professional MC. People are talking about Levar Burton and I think that would be a better choice.

@@pjabrony8280 I think it's also important to think about longevity. Burton is in his mid-60s while Ken is in hid mid-40s, which is the same age Alex started. Having an older host wouldn't be a bad thing (and Burton is incredibly talented), but an older host can't serve as long as Alex did.

Ken: *shared the stage with Alex Trebek hundreds of times* & misses Alex very much. Johnny Gilbert: had been announcing Alex *every single time* for almost four decades. Can't imagine how unbearably sorrowful he is. May God bless our beloved Johnny Gilbert.

The fact that it almost sounds like kens crying it hits hard 😭

Everyone here is going to feel uncomfortable. It's natural. I felt the same way with Drew Carey which went through some growing pains himself trying to figure out his style. It's like that one song that you didn't like the first few times you listened to it but then it grew on you and now it's one of your favorites. Whomever gets the gig is going to do just fine once they figure it out and we grow into it.

Exactly. I was like a lot of them, especially with drew. I watched him off and on, but he started to grow. This is gonna be the same with whoever they get to be the permenant host. It’ll be hard to adjust, but I’d rather legendary shows like price, or jeopardy march on. I’d take those shows over the garbage that’s considered daytime/some primetime tv any day.

Wow. Johnny Gilbert really handled calling Ken Jennings pretty well. I bet he really misses Alex. The two were like brothers with an inseparable bond. But on November 8, 2020, that bond was broken forever with the passing of Alex Trebek.

Remember Johnny did say Ken Jennings for 75 games in a row when it came to introducing contestants it’s definitely going to be weird

For now, Ken's only an interim host. But besides these things are taped, Jeopardy does like 5 shows a day when they tape so I don't think it would me too hard to work around.

I think it won’t feel normal with Ken hosting but I think he will do a great job. At least my local station that puts on Jeopardy does reruns at 2 PM and that days new episode is on at 3:30 PM

No one can replace Alex but if there was anyone who could follow him it would be Ken Jennings

It's because there will be several "guest hosts" for the remainder of the season. Katie Couric has been confirmed. "Interim host" sounds more long term than a week or two.

Saw the WLKY version of this promo ("join WLKY for Jeopardy").

ABC News senior white house correspondent, Cecilia Vega has a game show voice because, she can guest host & be the new permanent host of "Jeopardy!"

Let us be honest, Ken Jennings just needs to be the new host of Jeopardy. I mean, think about it for a second, he not only played the game like a boss, but he essentially broke the game so much that he made what Paul Michael Larson did during the original 1980s version of Press Your Luck seem downright amateurish in comparison. Ken Jennings essentially did the game show equivalent of challenging the professional wrestling quote of Ric Flair when he said, "To be the man, you got to beat the man", and he not only challenged said quote, he did so in an epic fashion to boot.

Please give Bob Harris a chance to guest host too. He had perhaps the wittiest personality of any Jeopardy legend.
