Kazak Pro Knife Sharpener Review!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

kazak.com.pl/en/ The Kazak Pro knife sharpener is legit! I had to nitpick to find anything not to love. Kazak is a Polish company who says a portion of every purchase goes to support Ukrainian refugees. Comparisons to TSProf's systems are inevitable and challenge accepted! Kazak says they are working on manuals right now so one of my concerns expressed in the video is about to be vanquished.

    Personally loving my TSProf sharpener, that's a cool looking machine tho. Question since I saw a Spyderco knife flash by in the video...any tips or thoughts on getting Spyderco pocket knives clamped into the TSProf? Between the taper in the blade and the long flat grind it's hard to get them to stay straight. Thanks for the great review!

    One option would be the the Tsprof "Single clamp" that has the springs so you can close the front of the jaws and widen the rear to match the blade. You could try also some of the KakBrivta clamps from Gritomatic. They have jaws that have various sized cuts in them for either flats, or angles for grabbing onto angles better. You have to choose the specific measurement of 4-7mm or so though, each clamp is set for 1mm increments.

    So does the radius of the curve that the sharpening arm describes limit the ability of the sharpening stones to remain perpendicular to the edge of the blade? Especially on knives with non-pointy tips? Does it even matter? Thanks for the videos.

    The sharpening angle stays the same along the edge until the edge moves closer to the riser, say at the tip of the knife. Then the angle increases very slightly.

    "I sharp'n mah knife on a rock from the river! You is real fancy" The lighting rig is really very cool for us out there in the world with decrepit eyesight and well the phone holder. I'll leave that to the young-uns that get excited by such things on their social media as I can't imagine me sharpening anything counts as entertainment and more a case of being able to watch myself die of boredom doing chores.

    You can build one equally as effective, and less convoluted with some 2/4s a file and a eye bolt. Finish on abrasives and whetstones. Won't break the bank.

  • @DatBoiOrly

    @DatBoiOrly

    Жыл бұрын

    I personally agree with you I've used whetstones stones since I was a kid especially when doing sickle/scythe work where square stones don't really work. So it's an easy skill to pickup even easier still to pick up on knifes since most of the blade is straight just takes awhile to master. If you use the counting method and know the profile of the original edge you can sharpen anything.

  • @_BLANK_BLANK

    @_BLANK_BLANK

    I mean, I suppose. It won't work very well once you start using steels that are getting above the low 60s in HRC though, and if you have something that's above 65 you for sure aren't touching that with a file.

    I want to mow with a scythe, I have one with a very hard steel blade. (I don't believe it's meant to be peened) I can't seem to get it sharp enough to cut. Would you be willing to share some advice? -Ian

  • @DatBoiOrly

    @DatBoiOrly

    Жыл бұрын

    @@iankrom510 why not test it to see if it's actually a hardened scythe since you use different sharpening methods depending on your scythe. To test it use any old metal file and rub it on the spine if it's hardened it'll scrape over it if it's not then it'll dig into the steel. If it's hardened then you sharpen it as If it was a knife you work your way up in stones till you get to your desired edge. For the unhardened you just use a round file to get your desired edge profile then use a stone to touch it up every so often when I feel it catching. couple of little tips for you the shallower the edge the better like half of what a knife is usually sharpened at pretty sure it's like 15 to 20 degrees for tbe scythe the thinner it is the better it cuts but the more you have to maintain it so find a balance that suits you. Also make sure to use the correct stones there's a specialist stone just for scythes and sickles called a cigar whetstone if you use them and follow your own edge then you'll be golden ;)

    @@cavemanvi seems kinda pointless tbf if the issue is so mynute you need a microscope to see it I really don't see the point of buying this, if the folks in the middle ages didn't need this "perfect edge" when swords and other weapons actually did service then neither do I since I'm not skinning grapes :p. In all seriousness I prefer an uneven edge to a perfect one think of it like this which is better at taking compressive force a thin sheet or that same sheet with bent into an wavey S pattern in it which leads to a more durable edge?(the answer is the wavey one) it's the reason scalpels are used only once since that super sharp edge dulls quickly because of this perfect edge which if this is what this product provides I want nothing of it since It means I'll spend more time sharpening than I do using the thing and if I was selling those won't your customers hate you for a knife that dulls quickly out of the box I personally would.
