Kawhi Leonard - Lockdown 15/16

Спорт

This is part ONE. These are clips through the first around 30 or so games (I believe I don’t have any clips on or after the new year).
In case you didn’t know, the Spurs have been historically good on defense this season. They don’t foul. At all. We’re talking about (at one point in the season) allowing the fewest trips to the line all-time. They also don’t give up the three pointer, to near perfection. Taking nothing away from the brilliance of Pop, or the ageless wonder that is Tim Duncan, this video is focused on the Claw.
Kawhi is arguably the best defender (yes, Tim Duncan is STILL that good that it’s only arguable) on the league’s best defensive team. He is also the reigning defensive player of the year, and just a year removed from an NBA championship and Finals MVP. That’s absolutely absurd when you consider this guy is only 24 years old.
So as I said up top, this is part one. I tried my best to not mix up clips from later in the season, but I am almost certain that there is nothing from 2016 in there. Part one means there is more to come, and I already have lots in the tank for part two, so fear not, there will be more.

80% of these clips include Duncan at center. Tim is super old but he allows Leonard to do what he does. Tim doesn't get the credit. Spurs are 1-2 last three and got torched by warriors n cavs. Cavs game pop had Leonard play off lebron instead of man n had the team play zone because Duncan didn't play.

Yup. I put it in the description that Kawhi is only arguably the Spurs most important defensive player because Duncan does so much that goes unnoticed. Plus perimeter guys can press up on their man knowing that they have an all-time rim protector back there

Do you have any Clipper stuff in the works? I haven't seen a DeAndre Jordan video from you yet and it'd be pretty cool to see one of him considering he's 3rd in blocked shots and 4th in the league in opp FG% at the rim

I do have some Clippers stuff in the works, but it's shockingly difficult to get defense clips of the Clips. DeAndre is spectacular on defense, but his shot blocking isn't ideally what I'd focus on...either way it's hard to get that stuff. But when I can get my hands on some, I will definitely make one

+Evin Gualberto A Chris Paul dynamo vid would be nice as well. Plenty of steals and on-ball to pick from. He could also have a mid range vid similar to Kyrie's left-hand layup comp where he's just pulling up off the dribble and killing from 16-18.

That's really much more difficult. You see, all these clips are from other videos that basically do highlights from that players specific game. In order to do that kind of video, I would need access to a number of full games. Hopefully someday down the line, I'll be able to get that done, but I don't think it's doable anytime soon.

People, this is why defense is so important. When we watch games, we'll always keep our eyes on the player who has the ball. But fail to realise that every possession is half-offense and half-defense. You can score 2 for your team, but if you defend well and stop the opponents from scoring, you're also 'scoring' 2 for your team by stopping 2. This is why overrated players like James Harden (all offense, zero defense) are no different than Tony Allen (all defense, zero offense). Again, HARDEN = TONY ALLEN. That's why Kawhi's team is always winning and Rockets are not.

Yes but it's much harder to defend than score. Exceptions exist like Kawhi who can actually significantly lower the offensive impact but on average, offense is actually what wins games. There's a reason why Curry is considered a top 5 player and Thompson isn't, despite Thompson being a solid offensive and defensive player.
