he doesnt want to risk injuries anymore, because all he cares about is championships wins, which is why he takes so many days off, and doesnt try as hard during the regular season. people always say hes not as good anymore as he was the year before, because they remember playoff performances due to it being the most recent. when the next playoffs finally come, he is tossed around the "best in the league" discussion constantly

Kawhi rarely bets on defense, but gets as many steals as some guards. It was basically a predicted move, and it showed how focused he was. That why I always love watching his play

Kawhi's Spurs defense was INSANE ‼️ LBJ, Curry, KD, Harden hated to see him...lol. Man, that quad injury and now his knees really has taken their toll...sigh. I'm really hoping this quarantine has helped with healing his knees.

Honestly, that shot and block against Houston is the epitome of Kawhi's career!!! He was so far out of that play and Harden (as much as I can't stand how he manipulates the refs) had an easy layup. I actually got teary-eyed watching that replay again!!!!!! Kawhi Leonard is one of the most underrated players in NBA history!!!! Bird and Duncan make this list as well!

lphjustin i think it was that and he saw the direction we were headed, he had no real help and we’ve made questionable moves since then but would we really have anyone other than him if he stayed. He’d be pulling all the weight for us to be contenders. I hated seeing him leave as he was my favorite spur (crazy considering we had the goat pf TD, Manu and tony) but im glad he gets to add to his legacy by winning outside of our system. Great player hate seeing his raptors highlights but i like him in the clips blue. Go spurs go! (damn we suck tho)

I'm a Spurs fan and this video just brought out my depression.

The more I watch, the more I realize he's not even that quick, flashy, or explosive. He just knows where the ball is at the right time without being extra. Really efficient.

what is even more impressive is how successfully they score after a steal or block from kawhi!

Defense is beautiful. Every sport, Basketball, Foot all, Boxing, Soccer and baseball, I love watching the defensive side of the game more than offense. Idk why, just love seeing players compete and give it their all on defense.

He owns everybody. LeBron KD Giannis Embiid Curry. Easy work for him. No one is close to his level. Kawhi is the goat. Period. Clippers in 4!

Nice to see video highlighting good defensive players, its almost like a lost art nowadays.

11:43 is the single most amazing defensive play I have ever seen. He wasnt even LOOKING at the ball when he stole it. He literally saw the other player make a throwing motion and blindly dived with his hands already extended and stole the ball with BOTH hands

This is why I love watching Kawhi play. You gotta love his effort and hustle on defense aside from him being the focal offense now. Watching other superstars who are a beast on offense but lazy on defense is so boring for me.

He just proved that "Defense is the greatest offense"

This and the way he plays is “boring” and appears effortless because he’s so sound positionally. Kawhi is not naturally a loud flashy guy for the media, more comparable to a Kareem or Timmy in terms of caring about media than Jordan, Kobe, lbj

As a Raps fan since the VC days I'm so thankful to have had a magical year with Kawhi, players like him are truly rare, and you can still see the championship mentality he rubbed off on the Raptors.

He not only is able to swipe at the ball but he always takes the ball away from you. Many times players will swipe the ball but the player will still hustle and get it back due to the randomness of where the ball goes after the swipe. Best on ball defender I've ever seen.

People forget how great 2016 Kawhi was and no one seems to noticed how he won defensive player of the year unanimously after he won it in 2015, led his team to 67 wins, finished second in mvp behind probaly one of the best mvp seasons of all time steph curry , but no one seems to remember because they lost to the thunder who had way more talent and took golden state to the wire

I like when binibili gives the ball back to kawhi, because it was kawhi's effort so he deserves the score from his steal, unlike the other team mates, as a player it would build a nice team mate relationship if your team mate gives you the ball after you steal
