Kawhi Leonard - Lockdown 15/16 II

Спорт

Kawhi Leonard, back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year. Not a whole lot needs to be added really, except that Kawhi and Hakeem Olajuwon are the only two players in the multiple DPOY awards + Finals MVP category. Plus, he's the first non-center to win consecutive awards since Dennis Rodman. When we're talking defense, and you're in a class with just Dennis Rodman and Hakeem Olajuwon, that makes you a truly transcendent talent.
It's no secret that Kawhi is a very special defensive player, with the eye test and statistics back that up. If you delve a little deeper, and just look at the advanced stats on The Claw, you start to see some frightening stuff. My favorite one is from Tom Haberstroh (@tomhaberstroh on Twitter): "per Synergy Sports, Kawhi allowed 42 points on 61 isolations (0.69). Draymond allowed 129 on 191 isos (0.68). League average = 0.85." Now, in case you don't know what that means, he explains: "The best argument for Kawhi DPOY is that no one dares to go at him."
As you can see on the title, this is part two. If you're looking for part one, I have that link for you here:
• Kawhi Leonard - Lockdo...
If you're looking for some more Kawhi defense, then you're looking for probably my most popular video. I have that one here:
• Kawhi Leonard - Lockdown

Not a spur fan but love the way he plays, won finals MVP in 2014, DPOY in 2015, and another one in 2016. Doesn't run his mouth he just plays the game of basketball. Spurs struck gold with him

Love watching him play defence! So many of his defensive plays come against the opposing star player on the other team, which makes its all the more impressive

awesome post! one of the better 'Kawhi Defense' videos yet! I have to say, one will have to as far back as the mid 90's to see defensive highlights that match this one. Payton, Pippen , Jordan, Rodman, etc. There is not even a close second with this generation of players in terms of Defense

Jonathan Foy I love Kawhi but he doesn't have the body of work just yet. I think GP, Scottie and MJ can give him a run for his money, although I do think that he's the best p4p defender in the league and could hold his own in any era.

ThePS4Gamer313 No worries. I'm considering it, but honestly, I always plan on making more videos than I can actually finish. It requires so much time to get just defensive clips, that I have to just pick and choose games sometimes, so that means I miss out on some important or impactful moments. Also, with music, sometimes it's cool to see a mixtape style video, but I spend so much time putting the videos together that I'd rather just maximize the effort in finding and compiling the right clips as opposed to trying to figure out which music to put on.

eh man I know some players and their specialties. You should look into it but I know you have a lot of projects. Shaun Livingston always checks into the games for Golden State and I swear he does the same stuff. He backs a smaller guard into the post and does a fadeaway and his jump shot is so damn ugly he jumps a foot in the air and kicks his legs out and gets an "And-1" every time. Every single time he does that fadeaway and he gets the call, that is his role. Instant buckets off the bench. Another player I like to watch, not saying I enjoy Livingstons every call, is Barbon whatever dude form Spurs. He is so big and dunks like nothing.

hahaha, that's funny you say that. Boban Marjanovic and Shaun Livingston are 2 projects that I have slowly been compiling for. It'll take forever because they are bench guys, but I do really enjoy watching both of them, so whenever I have enough to make a video, it'll be up!

+The Dream Merchant Give them my regards , as well. Also, while your at it, tell them to watch Kawhis videos and maybe they'll learn a thing or two. Like Draymond, who averages 4+ fouls a game and got ran off the court by LJ. PG knows first hand by having his worst game of his career against KL last year. Butler nowhere near as versatile (great two guard though) ... got it?

Tms J Never did I say they were better than Kawhi nor imply that Kawhi wasn't great. All I'm saying is those guys are great defenders as well. By the way, Draymond averaged only 3 fouls a game during the season, 3.5 during the postseason, and also stayed and congratulated LeBron for winning despite losing the series after having a career night. No need to catch feelings just because other names are mentioned.
