Unplanned? Perhaps, but we know from those Covid-19 shut in videos David doesn't like to leave too much to chance. Perfectionist indeed.

I remember how Catherine WOWED me on Idol, EVERY week and I thought should have won, she was and is that DAMN good. She did Barbara proud. Better timing, improved sound system, it's even better.

That was the Streisand arragement that Foster did for her Broadway Album back in 1986.

Absolutely gorgeous - she KILLED ending but I’m almost more impressed with her gorgeous voice / tone singing the verse 😍

Foster is such a pro, holding up his hand to keep the applause from drowning out Katherine’s great finish. Fine composer/arranger/husband. And I’ve always loved Katherine’s singing. She keeps getting better with experience and professional coaching.

I will never understand why people come, _one would imagine_ , to hear a singer and/or musician perform then invariably refuse to listen to the *best* of the singing or playing choosing instead to obliterate the most wonderful sounds of the performance with hoots, hollers, and hand slapping.

I'm quite sure David didn't want her to win. He recognized her talent and knew she'd be tied to a 15 year contract without any of her input. Simon told her if she said another ballad, she would win. She sang a silly pop song, wasn't good and she lost. kelly Clarkson hated be told what to sing and where to sing it, but was locked in. She commented how wonderful it was to sing what she wanted after her 15 years

Yes I noticed when sang “…halfway there,” she drops THERE in such a way that it loses all strength, so I was straining to hear the finish of that word. Still she is a great singer. Also, I agree that she needs to create more of a vocal tension as she transitions from register to another, as it makes the song lose its drama. THAT is what BS is a master of.

i loved her on AI, but not impressed with her first CD after she won. sort of turned me off of her as i thought she was abandoning the type of music she sings so well. but, that is me.

When she was in that TV Show I watched just to hear her sing. unfortunately it didn’t last…

MS. McPhee is better than Barbara .... Barbara had a strong voice and always used it whether it was to push the lyric or just to prove she could .... she was a great singer ..... Katharine is a strong and beautiful vocal talent I have loved since first hearing her with Bocelli (Foster led concert ) - just great lady. GBjj

I'm so glad that David didn't compare his beautiful wife to Streisand! Katherine has more charm, more soul, more beauty and sings 10,000 times better then Streisand ever could or will again, I can watch David and Katherine perform together all day and all night, their chemistry is so infectious and beautiful.

I've loved Katharine since her time on American Idol and she should have won, but, like it or not, there aren't many in history that can rival Barbra. Katharine did do a great job with this song however, and there's several moments she sang some of the notes as Barbra did them.
