All you have to do is look at her Tour dates. She’s playing Lightning Ridge mate. A life on the road playing a lot of small country towns where the profit margin is not going to be that big. She travels, writes and plays because she loves doing it and with the family is top shelf. FYI it’s available on Spotify which means Eminem has heard it and given permission for it to go up. Great lyrics, great cover. It’s a new beast from the original and it’s awesome to see the original creator acknowledge that.

"...and I was playing in the the beginning. And the mood all changed" - The mood does change and she brings the anger and pain. The way the first 2 verses leads to that line it what helps set it up. She sang this like she's lived it, which in some ways she probably has. Dad Bill is on the slide guitar. Em's writing is on full display here, you can NOT do something like this to a song if if it's not well written, and for her to sing using close to the original cadence sets it off nicely. Something I didn't mention in my pitch but will mention here... 90% of reactions I've seen of this the reactor claps their hands at some stage during it. You didn't let me down 😂. To me this sits up there with the greatest covers where someone has made a song their own like Johnny Cash and Hurt.

I’ve always thought the beginning is that tired, haunted sadness that trauma does to you & then you get tired of being sad. Then the angst & anger follows in all it’s fury. It’s an amazing interpretation of Em’s brilliant writing, a different expression of those emotions. Bloody epic! ✌🏼

She was one of the extremely few singers that made my mom cry every single time she would hear her. She regrets never going to see her live when she had the chance. I’ve always loved her too, but I don’t think I had the life maturity to really get her until I was well into adulthood. 💜 I always felt her emotions but the lyrical understanding came later.

I’ve watched every reaction to this so far - and yours was best. Thankyou. Kasey’s been on my radar since 1994 when she was just a teenager I think, playing with The Dead Ringers. I was just blown away by her intensity and the way she commits to every syllable of a lyric, and that voice that can go from honeyed sweetness through to razor blade sharp, cuts to the soul. She is amazingly good, I just love her.

It’s a special YT moment. They don’t come along often. Those “Ghost Love Score” moments that catch you off guard. She’s normally country. My wife has all her albums. I’m not into it. However she hit this out of the park and the artistry of how it’s performed and sung is just magic. Like someone pointed out to actually sing a rap spoken lyric takes a lot of breath technique. It’s also a measure of a reaction skill to be on top of your game and spot the greatness. Some have failed the test. You are on point.👌

This is your classic Eminem head banging banjo song that starts with Jewel and ends with Janis Joplin. Classic! His song takes you from where you are and pumps you up. Her version brings you down into deep melancholy and leaves you there to ferment. Then after you felt the sad desperation, it’s clarity describing one chance to exit that melancholy existence.

So good the world is FINALLY getting to hear our princess Kasey after all these years thanks to everyone being curious how any female could ever do justice to covering Eminem, let alone a supposed Country artist... and I say supposed, as I am a full on Slayer/Pantera/Jinjer fan who got dragged kicking and screaming to a Kasey Chambers gig back in 2003 and have never headbanged as much at a show as that gig! We have adored her in Oz for the last 25yrs despite every major record label and radio station completely ignoring her, despite constant sell out concerts for decades in every Aussie city and county town... she is the people's princess, and we protect our Kasey fiercely and love her unconditionally, just as we ALWAYS have...glad you liked it man, def check her original songwriting for an even bigger surprise!

BTW, yes, Aussie pronunciation can be a bit of a trap, especially since we don't always agree on what it should be. The Nullarbor Plain is an almost featurless, flat area on the southern edge of Australia (think 1,200 km of almost dessert with a real desert to the north and the ocean to the south) and is usually pronounced 'null-a-bore'. As is normal in Aus, no gaps or breaths, pronounce as a single syllable.

After much demand from fans to release the live performance and noting so many cameras in the air, Kasey asked fans to send through any footage they had filmed. This cover song hits all the key ingredients of greatness and captures the spirit of the original tune. It delivers the song to an audience who may not have heard it from the original artist. The artist's unique delivery makes the song stand out, despite not being the original performer. It's refreshing to hear every word and appreciate Eminem's writing skills without needing to read the lyrics.

Kasey is a contemporary of Eminem, Not Pretty Enough was out 2001, Lose Yourself 2002. If you like the gritty stuff, try a live version of "Ain't No Little Girl", a more recent track.

G'day Wolf, I don't know how many times I've come back here to watch your reaction to this track, it's definitely one of my favourites. I'm not really a rap fan or hip hop either but this song has always been a bit different, I guess because the lyrics and the build up really touch something primal. My folks loved two types of music, country...and western, so I've avoided that all my life but this is fucking amazing! Cheers Kasey and shout out to your Dad on steel guitar you're bloody legends.

I have watched every reaction so far to this masterpiece and am always surprised by the American reactors shock at her singing ‘motherfucking’. Why the shock? She is only singing the written lyric. Is it because she is female? Is it because Americans are weirdly prudish in so many ways, considering the American culture is so damned debauched and hedonistic. Eminem himself is American! And Kasey, being Australian, is the perfect person to use that word! So so proud to be a female Aussie myself!

I can't speak for others, but for me it was more of a celebratory fuck yeah, not shock. But to answer your question, country singers in America are very proper. They are typically Christian so they don't really curse. So when an American is watching her, they are most likely associating her with the American stereotype.

Love the way she builds up to the last verse, think it’s part of what makes this cover so brilliant. I’ve always loved Eminem’s version and so agree with you how this song reveals what a brilliant lyricist Em is, if somebody didn’t think so already. Hearing her do it I have to think Dylan would be proud of these lyrics.
