I showed this to one of my clients, who is a music nut (as am I). He's an elderly gentleman with an acquired brain injury, but he and I talk music non-stop, every Tuesday. He was so moved by this performance that he started crying, then I started crying, and it was fucking beautiful. That's the power of music. It transcends race, religion, age, sex, injury, health, language, background. It brings different people together effortlessly.

It will be one of the best live performances you've seen I guarantee. On par with this lil Aussie but Farnesy is our Springsteen/ bolton and can sing just about anything, so holds more weight imo.

Fun facts . That's her brother on guitar with the harmony and her dad on the slider guitar. This was professionally audio recorded but not visually. They put out an appeal on facebook for fans to send in any footage they had and this is the result. great reaction. And .. Em has seen it and given her rights to profit from it on spotify etc.

Em gave her his permission to release on Spotify, that says it all 👏👏👏 She is aged 46 at the time of this performance 2022. I’ve always been a fan of Kasey, she is a freakin amazing & talented musician, artist & woman (from Australia, youngest ever inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame). But this was next level genius & so personal for her. She has lived every second of this story. The performance wasn’t filmed, she put a post out after the show to fans present to please send in any footage, the compilation of which you see. The band killed it, matching & building with her energy brilliantly. Long time band member Brandon (I thought it was her brother but have since been corrected) on guitar & the vocals that nurtured the momentum & her dad on slide guitar making it sing like a phoenix - all of them together made this one of the all time best live, for me a rebirth, not a cover, that I’ve ever heard, seen & felt….to my core. I’m going to watch your reaction over & over - I had chills from my head to my toes with you. Thank you thank you for your fabulous reaction & respect shown to Kasey and for putting on your “hoodie” as approval & for standing up for her, I damn near cried 👏👏👏👏she worked on this arrangement over lockdown & is a huge Em fan herself & had always wanted to do this at some stage - it’s just the absolute best!!! Heaps of people have "attempted" to sing along and failed, but you obviously know the song that well you easily picked up Kasey's cadence and matched it. Kasey was born in Mount Gambier (my hometown) in in 1976 to Diane and Bill of Dead Ringer band fame. I was priveledged to buy fish and chips from their shop in Southend on many occasions. The Dead Ringers were beloved of the country music scene in the South-East of SA and I was lucky enough to see them live on multiple occasions. That's her dad, Bill, on slide guitar in this video.

Lyrics hit different huh? I'm not an Eminem fan, but this made me appreciate his lyrical ability

I've seen quite a few reactions to this song and yours is one of if not the most heartfelt, genuine ones out there. The thing is, your reaction to it embodies the exact same emotion and understanding that makes it a great song in the first place, and also the inspiration Kasey was guided by when creating it. Pretty sure a couple of the other band members had a say as to the composition in this bc with repeated listens you hear how good all their parts are. Peace.

This cover works like someone took a great book and made a movie that more than does it justice, which RARELY EVER happens.

It was mobile phone footage. This was the first public performance. They had it recorded, the fans said it was special, so she asked for footage. Her big bro harmonised, her dad is on the steel guitar. He was in "the dead ringer band," when she was a kid, she and her bro joined after they grew up. She worked on this tribute, with the band during covid. She is a country singer songwriter, had some big crossover hits. The captain, not pretty enough, I Aint no Little girl.

Country singer doing the WORK! Australian singers are so passionate and varied but still so damn relevant even decades later.

This was a final encore for Kasey's country music audience most of them wouldn't even know the song and she still gets a roaring standing ovation at the end!! Best cover I've ever seen! Great reaction Man. Jon from Aus

Love this! The first half sounds like the sorrow of someone who knows they had 1 chance and they missed it. The second is like she somehow sees another chance and she knows she has to go for it with every ounce of her being. She literally left it all out there in this performance!

I watch this video almost every night. After a long, stressful, exhausting day at work. For some reason, the mix of her hauntingly beautiful badass voice, along with the bands heavy perfection and your reaction not only relaxes me but techarges me to continue the next day. Thank you. Putting the hood up. That's what great music is all about, no matter what genre/style. We all have our own version of "putting the hood up" whether it's internal or external expression. Great feel = great music.

Brother, that’s the only reaction out of the many (100?) I’ve checked out where each step of the way you were doing exactly what I was doing my first time seeing it. I mean, without the pausing. I was like, ok, alright, I dig it. Then ‘whoa’, I’m really digging this (goosebumps). Eminem was so impressed when he heard Casey's version that he gave her approval to release it on Spotify. The man on the lap slide is Casey's father. Before the song Casey requested that anyone taking phone footage, send it to her for the clip.

I didn't know what I was seeing, not being a musician or related experience (I learned what happened from you experienced people), but when she took the pick off the neck of the banjo.... I knew something was fixing to happen. Love your reaction, sir.

So powerful! Aussie music scene is so long , rich, and largely undiscovered. It makes for great treasure hunt!

I've known Kasey's music for many years. I was never a real fan but liked her style, and her original music. I also know, and have watched her dad, Bill, perform at The Lion's Den in Far North QLD where I used to live. That bloke playing the slide, sitting down with hat, I'm pretty sure that's Bill. Anyway, I only heard this cover a little while ago and have watched a couple of reaction videos...But man, I had that same reaction to this song. Kasey absolutely killed it. And may I offer an opinion about why she sings with such passion? Her career and life have been a rollercoaster and the lyrics to this song really resonate with her. Just my thoughts. As Johnny Cash owned 'Hurt', Kasey has owned this song. If anyone has an inkling to hear another cover that completely changes the tone of the song, search for The Seabellies, and their cover of 'Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again' by The Angel. If you've never heard the original, maybe listen to that first.

Awesome reaction! You had no idea how much your day was going to change after watching this! People the world over have drawn inspiration from Em's song. After a tragic incident last year, I have drawn inspiration from Kasey's version. Everything from the lyrics, the musicians on stage, the phone footage and of course Kasey's heart wrenching voice, builds the drama and tells the story. All set in the mostly unseen stunning heritage listed Civic Theatre in Newcastle. G'day mate from Australia.

Nice observation on the "cell 'phone" affect - that's exac5ly what it is. As i understand it, it wasn't recorded on camera, but when the sound guy was mixing it later, he realised it was something special, and miss Chambers sent out a request for anyone who'd recorded it on their 'phone to please send it to her - it's a collage of all those 'phone recordings. Personally, I think the result is freaking perfect!

Your reaction, in my opinion is right up there with Knox Hill, Stevie Knight, and Cliff Beats. They are the best in the business as far as i am concerned and you have just earned yourself another subscriber. Great breakdown brother.

Grew up in some of the most Arid parts of South Australia, playing country gigs, and catching rabbits for dinner.. Kasey really loved this song she sang the first two verses slower as they were in the third person, the third verse is in first person.

I love your vibe bro, loving sittin' here with you. This song is an absolute masterpiece. I ain't ever heard a better cover, not even an equal. And I love plenty of covers. Like you said, usually it's taking your little vibe into a song but this having it move into your house.

Nearly 2 years later and strangely Eminem has still made no public comments regarding his opinion of Kasey’s version. His record company gave Kasey permission to record her version to sell and stream it, but not one word has been heard from Em. 🤷🏻‍♀️
