At school you learn to play instruments, people are really open to different music and art in general. Finns hate copycats. Original idea and style is really important. Nature is certainly an inspiration to everyone. In the 90s, the breakthrough of Stratovarius, Nightwish and Children of Bodom certainly gave many metal musicians a lot of confidence that a Finnish band can do well worldwide by doing their own thing really well.

Yes, i totally agree... Human :||: Nature as incredible piece of art! And their live shows are just from the other world... I've been to a quite number of concerts and festivals, but Nightwish is in my TOP 3 for sure.. along with Tool and Heilung. :)

HI, Thank you for this great reaction. I really like this song, the music, the message and of course Floor. You are right, Floor is something you have to experience at least once in your life. I've seen her in December 2023, her solo show, a few weeks after her second child was born. It was amazing. Now hoping to catch a Nightwish concert in the future.

I'm from Finland and I think Finland can make great music because of the education system and social support: as a young student interested in making music a career, you don't need to take insane loans to pay for living and education, instead you simply have to be good enough to be accepted into the school and society pays for your living and education. Most Finnish musicians start with the love of music and make business decisions only later. In many other countries, being a musician is primarily a job and it affects your options when it comes to creating new music. Finnish mentality for many things is "it's more like a hobby for me".

From what I remember, the man swimming underwater is like the World Record holder of free diving. I don't remember how long his World Record free dive was...but it was a ridiculous length of time! Nightwish must have purchased the rights to the dive for the video. Oh, I can attest to the ancestors it takes for us to be born, as my Aunt went on a two year hunt to find my mother's side of the family. One of the ancestors was a General in George Washington's Army back in the War for Independence, and his family came to the Colonies in the early 1600's, over 400 years ago. On my fathers side...they were from Germany and with the fire bombing in many German cities in WWII, most birth records were destroyed.

I’ll definitely have to check out Wintersun. They’re from Finland so by default I know I’ll like them!

They are real freedivers not CGI. Tuomas has a deep connection with the oceans; before becoming a composer/songwriter he wanted to become a marine biologist. And life started in the oceans; our earliest ancestors lived and evolved there. By the way, I also find it remarkable that so many good bands (especially metal bands) come from Finland. And so many great female metal singers from the Netherlands: Floor Jansen (and her sister Irene), Simone Simons, Anneke van Giersbergen, Dianne von Giersbergen, Sharon den Adel and many more.

@@TheHapaHufflepuff You are not the only one asking this; I have read several comments like this. From Finland come great metal bands, from the Netherlands great female metal singers. In Nightwish both meet.

Someone has said than language affects thinking. And we get the language in "mother's milk" so to speak very young. There is a long tradition of singing poems and that maybe crosses over to everyday speech as well. That's the answer I came up, it might be entirely wrong though..

I absolute love this track/video. I've already watched it countless times, and I enjoyed your first time reaction! 🤘🪼👍 At least most of that diver footage was real. The name of the free diver is listed in the video credits. And that fish with the light on it does indeed exist in the real world, albeit not at that size. It's called an anglerfish, and they use the light to lure other fish. Crazy, huh?

I love every adpect of this song, but after watching dozens of reactions to this, one of my favorite parts is watching the reactors face when Troy comes in with his comforting, haunting, timeless voice and presence. He is a unique treasure. He seems to bring a little joy everything and everyone he touches.

We just drink so much coffee 😄 and try to be honest and be normally good people here in Finland 🇫🇮Well "small country" but cool that many KZread reactors likes Finnish music a lot. What’s not to like about Finnish music and culture?? 😁

This is the second time that I’ve heard this in a reaction, I see it maybe as another facet of Tuomas’s songwriting talent coming out. With the issues of climatic changes and ecology becoming more of a thing it’s more up to date to be going in this direction. I have followed Nightwish ever since just before Tarja left, but wasn’t so interested when Annette came but when Floor joined them in 2012/3 it regenerated my interest - Floor was just what they needed, she is a vocal beast! In this song I don’t think she was high enough in the mix, she sort of didn’t sound so “in command” of the song. The video is OK but I much prefer to see live performances like yourself and am terribly disappointed that they’re not doing a tour with the album, maybe it’s a bit too soon for Floor? Watching some of your other material it looks like you’re a big Symphonic Metal fan! Me too, plus some Rock bands also. Like you I like Alter bridge, Lacuna coil and Epica but also Ayreon, especially with his collaborations - his latest one with Brittney Slays from Unleash the archers is amazing! To get to the rock side, there’s a band of 3 sisters from Mexico called The Warning who’ve been making waves the past couple of years. Last year touring Europe and the Americas with Muse and this year the same thing but also taking in Japan with their own headlining tour. Their genre is best described as ’Warning rock’, their style a bit of a Unicorn, quite familiar but different. If you’re interested, the song I like they released recently is called Automatic Sun - it was released just before the Solar Eclipse, very fitting. It’s one of the songs from their new album being released on 28th June. Anything that you may be interested in about them is in their KZread channel. Oh and a fun fact about them, they’ve been a band for 10 years now and are now 19, 22 and 24 years old - I’ve been following them since they became a band!

Fantastic song, fantastic video. The only gripe I have is that the vocals get a bit muddled out by the intruments. Voice levels need to be a bit more pronounced. Hope they remix it for the album. Even if they don't, I will still buy it.

Unpopular opinion: I wish I could go back in time and 'undiscover' Thomas and that badly overrated evolutionist dude, and I'm not even religious. And why is Troy 'singing'. He can't sing. Did Keyboard guy go veganarian feminist? Scores the most amazing frontwoman, mabe in metal history and proceeds to bury her under his ridiculous ego and keyboards. Dude! Get it together! Bring it, haters. 😊

The great video hides how weak this song is. Bad vocal mix, Floor cannot be understood what she is singing in the symphonic pieces, her voice is suppressed far too much. Tuomas is very repetitive with his compositions. It seems to have been put together in what he has been making for years.
