Actually I tried that with the first contractor video but Yackety Sax is copy written. I even tried to speed it up and slow it down but they kept getting me. So I had to use that shitty fake version.

I just had this thought: what is the point of the fence in the first place? It's not completely fenced in so that her dog can run around in it, and it's not a privacy fence. So the only reason is to encroach onto your property.

I hope it makes sense and maybe give you something else to look up as for regulations concerning a fence placed in/on an easement. The caveat being that it must be within the property line of the person constructing the fence if they want to claim ownership of the fence.

Generally you cannot put a fence on an easement. You’re more patient than me. I’d have removed the fence from my property a long time ago.

You can see him thinking " ummm , lady this fence is on his property " 😅

I hope all of the fencing contractors are aware of this situation. They should all add 100 to 150% their estimates for the pain & suffering they may have to endure.

Keeps trying to find a contractor that agrees with her. Doesn’t like the advice she is getting so trying a different one. Or so she can tell the judge she has been getting different quotes and is trying to find a contractor within her budget to move fence (will never find one since she wants the fence where it is). Looking forward to seeing what the 4th one will tell her.

She is obviously playing de-fence at this point.

You should get a big poster board with the Plat that shows the easement and write in big letters "Don't forget about the easement". Put the sign facing the fence by the survey pin.

I like the second guy. YOU CANT GO OVER HERE!!! THIS IS YOUR NEIGHBORS PROPERTY and then laid out the tape measure for the easement.

In my area you can put a fence on an utility easement (phone, cable tv,etc). But in her case there is a drainage pipe under the easement. If a fence contractor drills down and puts a hole in the pipe the entire drainage system is compromised. That is why the city may not allow her to put a fence directly on top of the drainage pipe.

I like the contractor who actually knew about easements and was trying to explain stuff to her. You should stash a microphone in that big bush in her yard so we can hear better.

Drawback to that would be if she found it. You KNOW she would try getting him arrested for putting listening devices on HER property. And the judge would have to agree. Although a directional mic on HIS property aimed her way....well, that's HIS property.

Ha ha ha. At this point I may move there and open a surveyor/contractor business and make her my only client.

Just going to keep wasting time until they get a contractor that agrees with their entitlement? Just wait until they find another contractor, start working on the yard, and then inform them of the easement violation.

There is no need for the stupid fence in the first place, what a waste of money....

The easement is 10' wide, centered on the property boundary. That means the fence would need to be 5' on her side of the boundary, or about 1' from the corner of her house. There is also a front setback from the street, so the fence should start next to that big shrub.

I can't imagine being desperate enough for work to do a job for her. My estimate would increase by at least a thousand to guarantee she didn't hire me. You wouldn't be able to please her no matter how perfect you put up her fence. I seem to remember her being warned at the onset she was over her property line, but she knew it all and now she has to pay the piper or fence contractor!

I had no doubt that more contractors would be needed. Some people just cannot understand some things ... like being wrong. It's her money ... she'll have a few more no doubt.

I think the fence guys are aware of her lunacy. These guys don’t want to deal with a headache. They’ll turn down the job. Many other jobs lined up to do more than likely.

If she wants to build a fence on the lot line and in the easement that’s her problem. As long as it’s not on your property! If she puts the fence on her side of the easement then you will be maintaining a couple feet of her grass, or she will be cutting grass on your side of the fence.

After each survey, you should tell the next-door neighbor that the survey company might be wrong and that they should get another survey so that they'll keep spending/wasting their money.

All we know about the original contractor is that he had access to shovels and a truck.

There are a lot of fencing companies that provide free quotes so there could be more that come out.

You need to somehow let all the contractors in town know what’s going on. All this does is drive up the cost for legit people.

This is a blatant case of premeditated rudeness and an attempted violation of contractors' time by individuals AKA as "Karen's."

Ah yes. That's a box you can check off: "Lived next to Monsters." 😂

The contractors all know this is a bad job. Labor only. Angry customer. No profit on materials. Red flags everywhere. I would run, not walk, away!

The original fence builders probably moved out of state to avoid being sued for knowingly putting a fence on somebody else's property. That would be a very smart move, btw. Should have gone into witness protection, but this guy is so darn KIND. He's STILL not done ANY of the annoying things I would have done to Karen and her husband.

My favorite was 1,2,3 and 4. Perhaps #5 dose not mind doing work and redoing it for free again.

The second crew was a true survey company they came with the correct equipment and took every angle that was possible. Don't know what they are waiting for. Maybe the survey God's might be crazy and feel sorry for them and tell them they were right all along (NOT). Good luck hope this ends soon for you guys and they can dish up some crow for themselves.

The contractor team was my fav!! Very professional. My suggestion is that when the court finally settles, just go and rip that fence out!! It is on your property. No reason to be the nice guy and let them tresspass on your property to move it.

I've been watching this since almost the beginning and I don't think that anything anyone says is going to change her mind! It won't matter if the Judge comes out himself and shows her where the line and easement is, she'll still believe that dhe is in the right and everyone else is wrong!!!! I've been worried about how it's going to affect her when she finally has NO CHOICE but to accept that she's been WRONG the whole time!!!! I live next to neighbors who act just like yours. My neighbors are wrong about the lot line yet they keep calling code enforcement and the LEO to tell them we are trespassing on their land. The county completed a survey on my land and theirs and they still refuse to except the lot line boundries.

I think most contractors won't touch the job,why? Two reasons. First its a neighbor dispute and Two its a property line dispute. The contractor who would do the job is afraid of being called to testify in court. Not worth it for them.

I enjoy watching Karen & Daren spending their money. If you lived in PA it would cost about $1000 each survey.

Hope you are keeping a list of all these contractors. I can see her get one that will agree with her, and that is the only one she will bring to court with her. I can hear her claim she only got info from that one contractor. You might want to get what the other contractors came up with.

They are not doing surveys. Only the one firm did a survey and placed the pins, that’s done. These are all people she is getting quotes from just to move the fence.

Get permit to block off street and have big block party: bring a dish, your chairs/tables, hard hats; invite all the legal folks-clerks, judges, etc. and all the contractors and neighbors and the whole world!

I'm betting they are looking for someone to tell them their fence is just fine. and contractors will mention the easement and the other legal aspects of this. no way they want to hear that. I'm still enjoying the fun, though.

As someone who is currently getting quotes for pouring a new driveway for my new detached garage, if you're spending over $1000 for the job, you get at least 3 quotes. Unless you've used their service before and are happy with their work. You get 3 minimum just to make sure nobody is high balling you. Then, you may end up getting even more because, as I am currently finding out, they are more than happy to quote you but the good ones can't squeeze you in until the end of the year or beginning of next year. So, keep that in mind when making derogatory statements "Karen wastes another Fence Contractors time, for the 4th time". I mean seriously dude. Look at that crap of a fence they already had installed. The stupid thing waves more than people on parade floats. Not to mention it's on the wrong property. Bust her balls about her BS as much as you want. Just keep in mind, people should always get a decent amount of quotes when hiring someone to do expensive work. Nobody wants to pay for a Ferrari and get a Ford. Not dissing on Fords, just pointing out you wouldn't spend Ferrari prices on your truck.

There a real estate guy on KZread who had a lot sale fall through because a neighbor put a fence on his property and he went out with his kids and took it down. She called the police and they couldn’t do a thing about it ... but rules vary locally.

@@TheStobyReport I certainly wouldn’t advocate for that, I thought the judge had ruled that it was on his property, therefore allowing it. That’s why I said I was curious about it. He has played by the rules so far, it would be foolish to act out of spite, even though my inquiry was spite based.

And this is why contractors need to charge for a quote. The quote is only free if you actually buy the service.

Regardless of which contractor they hire, it's going to cost them plenty. I'd bet my life that the original "yay-hoo's" hired to install the fence in the first place are NOT LICENSED contractors. It was pretty obvious when one of them pulled up and removed a legal property boundary marker (pin). Additionally, the contractor that IS hired will have to dig up the concrete at the base of EVERY post, and refill/restore the holed left by said removal as well as dig new fence post holes. The only money saved will come from re-using the existing fencing material.

Id say #2 was the best and well equipped for the job.

They aren’t going to be able to afford a new fence. 🤣

How so? In this arc of the story Visit 1 3 4 looked like fence companies coming over for quotes is my guess. Only the 2nd video was a survey team probably at the behest of the 1st fence conpany. Its not out of place to get mutiple contracts for a job. Hell, I had 4 roofing companies come over to give quotes before I picked one after the last hail storm.
