For Story #3, I have severe migraines frequently to the point where I can’t move. That OP’s mom as well as her family is so rude. And yes, migraines ARE embarrassing, especially if you grow up with them.

honestly, for story #4, the boyfriend is probably quite stressed, as the last two years of university are quite stressful, so it must be hard to do that, let alone have a girlfriend at the same time. If I were in that guy's shoes, I'd probably do the same, but keep in touch.

One the one hand i understand him and his desire to keep contact, and work on himself to be a better person. Sometimes you can know youre a toxic person when it comes to relationships and want to change, sometimes being single really helps that especially with the right support from family and friends, and it doesn't necessarily mean they want you to wait around till they 'find someone else' or whatever (it can also be that) Though on the other hand, if she's not comfortable with it and it causes her paranoia or stress, then maybe they're at different places and ready for different types of relationships. You can be in love but not be ready to be in a relationship together. Sometimes its both people sometimes its one sided. Any what i was trying to say is relationships are hard, communication helps, but sometimes you're path is going on different routes, that doesn't mean they'll never cross or wont be able to run parallel to each other. What is important is knowing what you want, what you need, where you're going and if both your ideas of that, align or can work together.

I think instead of immediately kicking him to the curb it would be a good idea to just talk and negotiate some kind of middle ground. You’re right, college is extremely stressful and it can be hard to juggle a social life and an education. Maybe instead of 2 years just saying 4 months for a semester so that during the summer you can put more focus into the relationship. Seeing if breaks are possible and forming trust by taking this small one for what sounds like a legit reason.

Story #4: Good for the OP”s bf. He is ahead of the game by knowing he is not ready to commit to the OP. I know it sucks, but at least he voice things. Most wouldn’t have the guts to say what he said. The OP has 2 choices 1) wait! Or 2) move on! The bf basically said he is interested when ready but he need to grow 1st. The OP should just take this time to grow as well.

I have had a few headaches bad enough to knock me out if I didn’t take something soon. Honestly, if I was in that situation after the family chewed me out I would’ve lost my temper and just shouted “I’m about to pass out from a migraine, get your ass over here!” Secrecy be damned, no one deserves to go through that kind of pain. That and it would’ve called out how terrible your mom was being for NOT CHECKING ON HER CHILD!!!

The migraine story is highly relatable for me actually. As a child, I'de have horrible migraines in the mornings because of my intense anxiety, and I couldn't do anything in the mornings from the pain. I'de throw up, I couldn't open my eyes, I was in horrible pains. I'm alot better now with my Anxiety meds but the OP in that story should definitely go to a doctor (psychiatrist even) and see if theres anything going on mentally that could cause this

The OP also shouldn't hide this from their family to save face, you are in pain and need assistance, so call for it. Like they said it was near the threshold if passing out, you don't hide a wound, so you should never hide any physical pain. Hope they can see someone about it and hope they can be more open about it so they don't have to suffer for no good reason

Chronic Migraine patient here. If you're taking something OTC for migraine every day you are likely having rebound headaches. Essentially you're withdrawing from the painkillers which is causing a rebound migraine. You need to see a neurologist and try a preventative along with other therapies. If you end up hospitalized for migraine first thing they do is wean you off OTC pain meds because rebound headaches are so common.

I have been a migraine sufferer for 49 years. Just so everyone knows, it’s worse than giving birth. I had kidney stones (get them every so often) and one was stuck and needed surgery, obviously painful, but then I got a migraine and I didn’t notice the kidney stone pain anymore. Really tired of people thinking it’s just a bad headache and we just can’t handle pain 🤦‍♀️ it’s so much more.

migraines come with so much more than some headaches, it will say i get cluster headaches which then cause migraines from the stress. Most notable difference for me is the aura (i get black holes in my vision sometimes many sometimes one big one), and the nausea/vomiting that comes with migraines. Cluster headaches are particularly nasty, very painful and last months for me, literally months of headache every moment i'm conscious. Like some headaches can be awful, migraines are awful in slightly different ways, and of course migraines have different other effect from head pain that differ person to person. I remember some times when my head pain gets too much i'll hit my head against the wall because it hurts so much inside my skull and my mind can't think and sometimes the knock to the head will change the pain temporaily which is a bit of relief.

You can break up and remain friends. Not all people who break up do it because the relationship is over. People can and do stay single after breaking up to work on themselves. Some people have relationship trauma, or just trauma, or feel they neglect their partner too much while studying, and want to focus on a relationship after they finish studying. If he's breaking up with her and demanding she stays single, then thats controlling her autonomy, but wanting to talk about pausing the relationship till they finish studying and work on themselves. They are both free to make their own decisons, and its good he booked a flight out to have a face to face about this. If she wants it to be over, then that's what she wants and i hope she does what she wants, and i hope the dude finishes his studies and has a healthy relationship after with her or not. Relationships and people are complicated.

The OP on story 3 is being assuming and toxoc, and the ex isn't flat out trying to end. He's trying to build a relationship through a friendship, and work on himself because he doesn't trust himself that he won't cheat.

The migraine story she really needs to see a doctor because that’s really debilitating and can be hopefully but most likely controlled with certain medicines that can’t be obtained over the counter. If it’s really that bad that can actually be considered a disability if they don’t feel better after seeing a doctor.

Doctors don't really care. I had one yesterday that was so bad I was throwing up all day. Disability denied me. The rules changed.

Ooooooh I get fired up whenever people dismiss how painful a migraine is. We aren’t faking it for attention, we legit can’t function when our head feels like it’s going to explode, we can’t see well due to light sensitivity or tunnel vision, and every heart beat feels like a hammer to the skull/eyes. It’s also pretty embarrassing when you are crying due to pain. Thank god for my prescription. I take it as needed and it’s a lifesaver. Some of my migraines feel like a hang over but much worse. There are many others who have worse/more frequent migraines than I do and I can’t imagine what that’s like. And a migraine while on your period? That poor OP. A migraine while having cramps is the opposite of fun. 🙃

I can relate with the young lady with migraines. They are horrible I am still dealing with a doctor to see what is the cause. They have got worst after I caught Covid.

Story #2 - Every hotel I've ever stayed at will get you a cab, and, if there's not one already there, one will arrive within 5 minutes. Some higher class hotels I've been at will make a limo reservation for you - at your expense, of course. This guy thought the hotel van was his own private, complimentary, limo.

Story #3: I just have questions. 1) What doesn’t the OP carry her own meds? This would have changed this whole situation alone. 2) Who is the relative that was gone for 3 years? The OP should have told that person to mind there business. End of the day, this could have avoided if the OP would have either carried her own meds or sac’d up an said her needs.

for future readers, if you need to take ibuprofen that often for migraines, consider looking into triptans with your doctor.

Some people are nothing more than walking hemorrhoids, the attitude of being entitled will get a person into more trouble than it will get them out of.

Story #1 - Police Officer : Why are we even here ma'am? Karen (in her head) : Because the original poster refuses to give my way now put him under arrest.

Story #2 - Original Poster if the entitled guest contacts your manager about that incident not only tell your manager what actually happened but also ask if it is possible if the tell to be in hotel lobby 5 minutes before pickup time can be implemented into the standard check in speech at the hotel. This way incidents like what you went through can be reduced.

The migraine one I feel , I get exactly the same ….. usually if I don’t take the super strong meds I get then I get the exact same symptoms as the op

I have an idea, how about people shut up about long distance relationships, myself and my partner have a 2 and a half year relationship, and have been long distance the whole f*cking time, and if my partner told me “wait til I’m ready” I would, why? Because I care about her, and if I did, she would to, do the op of story 4 should wait to see how it all goes down, if he says “we should see other people.” Then go do that. Mr. Narrator, before saying that people are insane for telling others to wait for them, be in their shoes, or even mine. Do you even read the stories you are reading? Germany-UK relationship. Both in University and the guy flat out Says he isn't able to commit for 2 years. Possibly in the future but not now. I have had chronic migraines my whole life and Ibuprofen is the last thing you want to constantly be taking for those due to the risk of stomach bleeding and ulcers. So if I had to guess, there is a whole lot more to the story that OP is intentionally leaving out.

if they are getting migraines that frequently they might want to look at a triptan medication rather than ibuprofen. When you're in pain, you need to learn to inform others so people can be fully aware of situations, i know it can be embarrassing, but i feel the situations it can lead to are way more embarrassing. People can't know how bad a migraine/headache even if you bury your head in your hands in pain. Others can't feel that pain. A simple "mum can i get some painkiller, i'm in pain." wouldv'e really solved this situation. But maybe mum doesn't want them taking ibuprofen daily, and instead of having a conversation they are just avoiding giving it to them till they beg? Idk

I disagree with the third. The OP didn't even ask for help directly nor do we know what the mom was doing, but there was clearly family around. You need to say your needs. Now we also can't trust the OP. The OP had a bad migraine and couldn't open their eyes, but they could determine what the mom was doing? Why was the OP staying in a high traffic area? Did they go to dinner without getting the meds? Perhaps the OP is exagerrating, perhaps not, but they need to advocate for themselves. I am not giving anyone an asshole score with the current information. If OP was an adult I would consider giving them an asshole score.

Yes I think it is exaggerated not trying to downplay migraines they are horrible and I hope she gets better but one every day sounds like a terminal illness or exaggerated

They said they were having it and still currently have it while typing. And they said they couldn't open their eyes. THEN HOW DID YOU TYPE IT DURING THE MIGRAINE

this particular narrator must be a fun person to talk to in R/L /S No where in there did OP mention her BF waiting for two years, he said for them to take two years to sort themselves out, keep in contact, and then come back to see where they are. How so very "Insane" *Rolls eyes* shame it wasn't one of the other narrators.

yeah i thought the same. the narrator also clearly doesnt get how stressfull a masters degree is. the girlfriend is way too entitled or just doesnt understand the stress her boyfriend is having. i fully understand the boyfriend for wanting to sort his life out first. she should be supporting him , not causing more stress

Honestly, OhNickle can understand and can see both sides I'm stories when it's called for or when realistic enough, which is why he's the best guy here, this narrator is basically a simp and is probably most likely siding with the woman because of Germany's history (that was a joke).
