Justine Bateman on why she hasn't had plastic surgery

Filmmaker and actress Justine Bateman spoke with Yahoo Life in 2021 about beauty, natural aging, and her book "FACE: One Square Foot of Skin." The former "Family Ties" star said that even at the height of her fame, she didn't feel that her "face was some sort an accomplishment."

I love her message; it is much healthier attitude about aging that we should embrace to be more at peace with the physical changes that we are all going to ultimately experience if we are blessed to live a long life.

Justine doesn't look like a plastic mannequin, she is totally recognizable unlike some of the plastic surgery and botoxed obsessed stars who have gotten so much work done that they no longer look like themselves anymore. Justine has a good head on her shoulders, I'm her age and I think she looks great.

I think the correct thing to tell her is you dont look beautiful anymore. You look old . 100% of young men will no longer want you . That is what the truth is . Now that this is the fact . She is ok with closing that chapter. And now she is old and unattractive. And that is ok to be ugly. You are not going to be young and pretty forever.. So now everyone is going to feel sorry for her. But she had her time. Now she is going to deal with being old. Let's see how she looks in 10 years. She is still wearing a ton of makeup. Interesting to see her without makeup

We need to reinforce these thoughts with the younger people. I'm 56 and I have wrinkles, heavy eyelids, a turkey neck, and crapey skin. I struggle with my imperfections but I have the same feelings as Justine. My mind doesn't feel 56 and I love my gray hair but I been struggling with dying it. After listening to Justine talk about this, I don't feel like I should dye my hair. I earned every gray hair I have. I worked though the stress and worries and my gray hair is my trophy for surving all that.

I have been searching for celebs who’ve not had Botox and fillers and everyone I found, including those like Kate Winslet who say they have had nothing done, clearly has. Coming across this by Justine Bateman was exactly what I was looking for. A role model with a face that is genuinely aging and complete acceptance of that. Thank you Justine. I really hope there are more like you.

Justine…thank you for being a NORMAL woman who doesn’t give a FUC# what these shallow soulless individuals think or say. Sadly, my dearest and best friend and I have grown apart. I no longer feel comfortable around her because she examines EVERYONE she sees, commenting on how “old they look”….in spite of the fact that she’d look the same if she didn’t have her every six week Botox and filler appointments….I know, that when I have lunch or visit with her that she’s focused on my face and neck, and not paying attention to what I say or do. I miss her, but I’ve found new friends who judge me by my character rather than my wrinkles. I’ll eventually tell her WHY I no longer visit with her…but don’t want to hurt her feelings. She’s a wonderful friend but insanely focused on judging others by the lines on their faces. Sad.

Im so grateful to see a celebrity that has chosen to age organically because the true message is of how many people do not love and accept themselves resort to cosmetic surgeries and injections in order to be loved by others instead of working on their emotional wounding which IS the cause of insecurities and lack of self worth. I'd suggest that people choose to heal from the inside out which in doing so you will return to self love which has no requirements to feel liked and accepted by anything outside ourselves simply because .. what others think about you does not define who you are. 😊

There are only two opinions here: plastic faces or age however it happens. There is nothing wrong with using creams, retinol, etc, to help you look younger and more refreshed. Your partner will thank you for aging as well as you can. Women either obsess or give up way too easily. Just look at how out of shape we are over 50. It is bonkers! We need to try harder, if anything.

I think she looks great. Taking into consideration she has had no work done. In that line of business, it seems like a requirement to fight aging to a point where they either all look alike and the rest look like cats. Apparently that's a good thing? I don't mind the injection I admit. But I do love to see the whole natural beauty.

There is no one right way to grow older as a woman. She looks good with her natural aging and she's also well-off and established in her career. Some of us fight ageism in the professional world with fewer resources than she has - and some of us don't enjoy being reminded of our age every time we look in a mirror. I don't believe any woman should have to defend her choices when it comes to what she does or doesn't do with her own face.

You are right on, Justine. I’m 5 years older than you, and had nothing, either. And for ME, personally, my “resting bitch face” which is a HORRIBLE THING TO SAY, BTW, is because I’m a nice person, and smile a lot. Not a “bitch” at ALL. And those smiles turn into life lines, and unfortunately, make those “bitch face lines” everybody smile and see. 🤷‍♀️Good for you. I guess we can not smile so we don’t “ruin our faces” 🤣. Good heavens above. We get older. Screw those haters. They’ll get older TOO. PERFECT.

I applaud you, my dear. It amazes me that these Botox faces do not realize they are beginning to look alike. They all have the same duck lips, plumped up cheeks, dyes, wigs and weaves and clip ins. And with all that, they have the nerve to criticize us natural women. I understand that age is a part of life and other women have the right to do what they want. However, it is more important to take care of yourself, beginning with the insides

  • @robertplant2059

My opinion is women for reasons and freedom want to buck nature. there is a reason you look your best at 20, then it drops for most as they age and some are lucky to stay beautiful as they age but you are by nature chasing in your 20s, find some one and marry and have a family with different priorities and maturity is you should not be trying to be hot in your 50s to catch a person, unless you "failed" to find the right person at your peak. It is not my rule, but if you look at it naturally, she is as she should be. Why most women are not hot at 50, should not be a reason, having children has past. And hopefully are still attractive to the person you are with for looks but so much more at 50 plus. The same for men.

She looks old for her age. There's nothing wrong with aging gracefully but aging fast from cigarettes doesn't count as natural aging. And if it's so serious that many people notice then yeah it's true. She didn't have to go on a tour about it. She aged fast so it wasn't gracefully. Nothing wrong with it. It's just obvious. She looks 67, when she slouches she looks 72. I'm right about this. But yeah it's fine.
