Yeah, I had to shake my head that both Stained Class and Victim of Changes are so low. How on earth are they behind Redeemer of Souls. And Turbo, so high? No way. I like those albums, don't get me wrong, but they're just not in the same, um, class as Stained Class. I mean, this is just personal taste, and I respect that.

I understand their importance to the genre, but I’ve always felt that Stained Class and Sad Wings are overrated. I just feel many of those songs aren’t up to par with their 80s output onwards. It could be the production, but I think the songs just aren’t as catchy and riffy to me. Although Beyond the Realms of Death, Victim of Changes, and Dreamer Deceiver are amazing.

"one step toward accessibility and one step back" that is a great definition of Judas Priest and their unusual combination of the heavy and "the hooky"! So basically they made a comment on it and I agreed with it, as it was something I noticed when having a listen through their discography. And you’re right, they weren’t afraid to try different things, change with the times, and get pretty hooky while still maintaining their sound. It’s one of the things I admire about them. Another important thing to note is how Tipton and Downing were constantly improving and adding new techniques to their guitar work. I respect your opinions. I know from watching your videos that you prefer the 80’s into 1990 Judas Priest. Demolition at 7 though really shocked me. I bought Demolition when it first came out and absolutely hated it. I haven’t listened to it since I bought it in 2001. Well you inspired me to give it another try. I’m listening to it right now as I type this. In all honesty I preferred Jugulator over Demolition. Underneath, I might think you’re crazy 🤪 lol, but in all seriousness we can think one is nuts for not sharing the same likes, loves or opinions as us, but everyone is different and something that one person loves, the other not so much. Another thing that I have noticed with you is that the majority of your likes are unique and not in line with status quo. Even though my opinion through this listening to Demolition hasn’t changed, it made for a good listening experience oddly enough and I will listen to the entire album. Currently on the song Close to You. I do love Ripper as a vocalist and loved him in Iced Earth, Charred Walls of the Damned and Winter’s Bane. Demolition is just too much out of the JP realm for me. My top 5 are Stained Class, British Steel, Killing Machine, Screaming for Vengeance and Defenders of the Faith. Painkiller for me is #6. My 2 least favorites are of course Demolition and Nostradamus. I love your content. Keep doing what you do!! I’ve learned about a good few artists that I haven’t heard. You also inspire my listening a lot, like today for example. Cheers!!

It will be at least a year before I can put Invincible Shield on the list. Does it continue to grow? Do I listen to it for a couple of months, then stop? For me, at least, I need a while with the album to really see if I keep going back to it again and again or not.

This is a catalog that has had more ups than downs for me but, my ranking has seen a lot of movement in it over the years. I'd bet that I've had a different top 5 each decade I've been a fan! Demolition (This one is a real stinker for me. I tried to sit with it to see if it grew on me but, Priest generally hits me immediately or it doesn't hit me at all.) Jugulator (Painkiller 2 is a great way to put it.) Nostrodamus (I really tried with this album. No luck so far.) Redeemer of Souls (Never resonated with me.) Ram it Down (I actually used like it a bit more but, I think they should have done Twin Turbos. I'd have ranked that one higher than either one on there own.) Angel of Reptribution (A powerful statement for the band with the return of Halford but, nothing that stuck with me.) Firepower (Not bad if you like your Painkiller era Priest.) Painkiller (I never got into this side of Priest. It felt like a kneejerk reaction to the critisism they got for Turbo/Ram It Down) Rocka Rolla (Love me some Rocka Rolla! Bad production on Priest albums is a theme with these guys though.) Invincible Shield (Best album they've done since Defenders but, I really don't enjoy Scott Travis' "Painkiller" style drumming. Priest never used to try so hard to be heavier than everyone else.) Turbo (I love half of Turbo but, I can't listen to the rest at all.) Point of Entry (This album used to sit near Nostrodamus on my list. I've recently had a change of heart about it. The production is bad though.) Sin After Sin (This one could use Steven Wilson giving it a face lift but, you can't deny the songs.) Sad Wings of Destiney (This would be much higher if had a more Priest-like guitar sound.) British Steel (This one has dropped a bit over the years but, it's still up there for me.) Defenders of the Faith (If you'd have asked 40yrs ago, this would have been my #1 or #2 without a doubt!) Stained Class (I've grown fonder of this one over the years.) Hell Bent For Leather (Spent a LONG time at the top of my ranking!) Screaming For Vengence (My entry point into JP.) Unleashed in the East (Gets accused of having all the vocals recorded in the studio so, I'm including it in my ranking. It has the quintessential recordings of all the early Priest Classics on it. It's also the album I recomend for anyone wanting a place to start out as a new fan.)

To each their own. However…I find it challenging to rank an album that has been out a week over classics that have been around for decades. If that isn’t recency bias I don’t know what is. Not trying to be argumentative but worth some reflection as you place new material against a catalogue so deep. Cheers and love the channel.

I recently gave a score to each album (giving a note to each song and making an average) and Stained Class came in at #1 with a 8.8/10, although overall I think Sad Wings is probably my fav Priest studio album. Nostradamus came in last with a surprisingly high 5.3/10. Unleashed came at the very top with a 9.5/10. Invincible Shield made it with a 7.9/10, but I think it might go up as I get more into the songs. Awesome catalogue. Cheers.

I started listening to Judas Priest when Turbo came out. Still love that album. My favorite era was the 70s and Sin After Sin is my favorite Priest album, with Screaming for Vengeance not far behind. Stained Class and Sad Wings of Destiny are also in my top 5. It's nice to see someone actually say something nice about Turbo and Point of Entry, which I also love. I'm not as much a fan of the newer stuff, but I still really like it. I don't think they've ever released a bad album.

Mine is usually controversial but it's how my ears enjoy it. Here's my ranking for all Priest studio albums fronted by Rob. I'm not a fan of Tim Owens at all. 1. Screaming for Vengeance 2. Invincible Shield 3. Firepower 4. Defenders of the Faith 5. Nostradamus 6. Killing Machine 7. British Steel 8. Sin After Sin 9. Sad Wings of Destiny 10. Turbo 11. Point of Entry 12. I'm still digesting Invincible Shield. So, I don't have a set ranking for it yet, but I have a pretty good idea. Anyway, here are my rankings of all the Halford-fronted albums prior to Invincible Shield (I don't rank the 2 Ripper Owens albums): 1. Sad Wings Of Destiny 2. British Steel 3. Painkiller 4. Screaming For Vengeance 5. Defenders of The Faith 6. Firepower 7. Hell Bent For Leather (Killing Machine) 8. Stained Class 9. Sin After Sin 10. Angel Of Retribution 11. Redeemer Of Souls 12. Point Of Entry 13. Ram It Down 14. Nostradamus 15. Turbo 16. Rocka Rolla Right now, I can't decide if I like Invincible Shield more than Hell Bent For Leather and Firepower, but it is right there with them, above Stained Class. So, when all is said and done, I predict Invincible Shield will fall anywhere from #6 to #8 on my new rankings.

I think one of the things that happens when reading someone else's rankings of one of your favorite bands, is that you realize that all the things you love about the band, the things that you think are what make the band, are not the same things that someone else recognizes as such. So you see them put one of your favorite albums near the bottom or one of the worst albums near the top, and you think to yourself, this person doesn't even like the same band that I do. I think that's why people get so emotional when these lists are released.

I’ll tell you what. This new album totally slaps. I’ve never been a huge Priest fan. I’m 39yrs old and Maiden has consistently been my favorite band for like 25yrs… there’s was this kind of unspoken thing where you’re more of a Maiden fan or a Priest fan. I chose Maiden. Respected Priest, but yeah. Now…. With that said, looking back now, I can totally see what I’ve been willfully missing out on. I know KK Downing left the band a while ago. All I know is Invincible Shield absolutely fucking slaps. Rob is over 70yrs old and he sounds this good? Bruce wishes he sounded this good at this age….
