From Wikipedia:
Journey is a video game developed by Thatgamecompany exclusively for the PlayStation 3 and which is distributed on the PlayStation Network. The game features the player as a robed figure in a vast desert, journeying towards a mountain in the distance. Along the way the player can meet other players on the same journey; the two players can assist each other, but cannot communicate via speech or text and are not shown each others' names until after completion. The game was released on March 7, 2012 for PlayStation Plus subscribers, and was fully released on March 13. It has been met with significant critical acclaim. Journey is the last game made under a three game contract between Thatgamecompany and Sony, the first two being Flow and Flower.

My friend you have no idea how these words touched me. People have been consistently writing some moving words for the past year of JOURNEY's release and it never ceases to leave me speechless. You have deeply affected me today. I must say I don't think I can lay claim to your experience. At best, I created a doorway, but ultimately you walked through it. You felt what you did because it was already inside, lying dormant. I am honored to have helped in some way, but you did it all yourself.

When I was a little red cloak, I met a stranger garbed in white. He showed me everything: the hidden places of all the glowing symbols, the most breathtaking views, how to ride the cloth fish ... and he was sooo positive the whole time. Every time I got a new glowing symbol he'd chime and run in circles around me like no one in the world could possibly be any prouder. And when we came to Apotheosis, spinning in flight around each other, finally reaching the top ... he drew a heart for me in the snow. And I chimed so excitedly, retraced his heart, ran around him as he chimed back and spun around me. Like I wanted to cry, he was the best stranger I've ever met ... I didn't want to walk through the light because I knew that would be the last time I saw the stranger. I swear, this game can end wars if it tried. I miss my companion, I don't remember his username exactly, it must've been something like M3TAL_HEAD, haha :) So wherever you are buddy, you're the best, luv ya.

That moment when you see another player for the first time, and you are both jumping around each other without saying a word, and you can tell they are just as happy to see you as you are happy to see them. The connection you share, together fighting and traveling along trying to stay with each other till the very end. You don't even know their name, gender, creed, religion, etc. It's just you and another random person sharing an experience you will never forget. An adventure in cyberspace, the internet, with no stats, no scores, no leaderboards, no killing, just an adventure with your and another person making your way to the top of the world. What a feeling, as tears of joy, pour down your face and you feel like you have done something so special and enjoying the music and the scenery passing by in instants, evading dangers, and the sense of joy you feel as you experience this with another human being, without even seeing their face, you know they are feeling the same sort of joy. Masterpiece.

Sometimes, art is meant to be history, and a way to remember. Sometimes, art is meant to show our devotion to a cause, and to celebrate that cause. And sometimes, it's only meant to be beautiful. People consider this art, because, to them, it's just that beautiful. The music is independently beautiful. The visuals, too. And the use of interactivity in Journey is something very special. All of it combined in a single experience might be enough to consider it art. There's no explaining why people consider something beautiful : it CAN NOT be explained, by definition.

A short story. I wasn't sure who I was, or where I had come from, but I knew the Mountain, and that was my goal. My story began as every story does; at the beginning, taking baby steps to my goal. I didn't dare venture far but, frankly, I didn't need to. At that time, the path was well laid out for me. The first time I met The Ancient, I learned what I suspected; that the Mountain was the goal of this, my Journey. My scarf short for now, wafted gently against my back. The Fallen Bridge stood ahead, and beyond, the Mountain loomed. Here, I think, I began to grow up. My path lay obvious in front of me, my goal beyond. And yet, despite this, I could explore. Scattered about the ravine, crossed by many bridges, were fragments of fallen Guardians. Old, dying Cloth fluttered from it in the gentle wind. The smaller ones, the Fish, waited inside, and helped me along when freed. They completed the bridge for me, aided me on my Journey. But then came the Desert. It was a time of joy and fun. It was a time of fear and aprehension. What came next? Over the next dune? In the next ruin? What do I do know? The Mountain was always there, always the goal. I would skip happily with the Cloth I came across, as Dolphins now, but also the small Fish. My Scarf grew longer, and now fluttered a distance behind me. Sometimes I found my self joyful and playful. Other times, I was terrified and small. Ocasionally, I questioned the Ancestor, even the Mountain. I met someone in the Desert. Who it was I cannot say, but they stayed with me until the end. Until the Mountain. Finally, across many miles of the Desert, we found the Sandstorm, a foundry for Guardians. The Ancestor met with both of us, and told more of the story of what came before. The City lay immensely before me. This was the highlight of the Journey, the staging ground for beyond. Here the Dolphins and Fish dipped playfully into the sand. Journeying. Just as we were. To the Mountain. To the End. Me and my companion had become good friends now, and we dared not stray too far from the other. Or Scarfs, longer now, flapped behind us in the rushing wind. This was the golden time of the Journey. The time when nothing was wrong, and we had everything we needed. Our path was clear. We knew what to do. And then that ended, and all was unknown. The Ancestor spoke more of the story, of the peace. And of the War. The Catacombs were always dark, and little light shone through. We found havens, and Cloth that hid. It hid from us. It hid from Others. Beyond was the Staging Grounds of the Guardians. They loomed, gathering dust and sand. But not all.of them were dead. These times were times of fear, of not knowing what would happen. The Journey might have failed, for we would be trapped. But there was still hope. The Temple saved us from the monsters behind. The Temple harbored our light, and protected it. We were safe there, with its aid. The Temple filled, first with the Light, then with the Cloth. Fish, Dolphins, Jellyfish, a Whale, all there, safe in the Temple. Finally, we reached the top. We learned that the future was already history. And that our Journey wasn't done. Great hardship was felt on the Mountain. The wind whipped, tearing our cloth, and the cold sapped our light. Many times, we had to huddle together to survive. Graves littered the slopes. Many other creatures were there. On the way to end their Journey. Too many never made it. The Mountains cold was unrelenting, and many froze in the ascent. Still others were cast down. Guardians patrolled the slopes, tearing apart those they found. The climb was hard. Many times, we were frozen, attacked, and had to hide in holes, or were simply blown away. But the Summit, oh, the Summit, the Journeys End, was to important. The storm blew everything away; Guardians, the Cloths. Only we were left going. We kept going And we kept going And we kept going Until we weren't. We fell into the snow. We were frozen through. We could barely move. We expected to die. The Ancestors stood about us, watching us. They lent us what light they had. And we flew. Past the storms, past the cold, past the machines that sought to consume us. We flew for the Summit. And then we were there. What a glorious place it was! Shining with warmth and light, overflowing with energy and life. We continued up. And we were there. We were at the he Mountains peak. We did not stop. Our destination is beyond Was beyond. Is here. We were here, at the End. And then we weren't anywhere. Rushing, rushing, rushing. Great wind all about. The Mountain behind, behind, behind. Going away. The Journey in reverse. Down the Mountain, the Temple, the City, the Desert, the Bridge. The sand littered with graves. Mine wasn't there. Mine was on the Mountain. From the End to the Beginning. The reverse of all stories. Yours, mine, the worlds. Beginning to End, and back again. Almost there, almost. No memory, only purpose, only will. The Journey lay ahead. I wasn't sure who I was, or where I had come from, but I knew the Mountain, and that was my goal.

I was going through a bad spell of depression when I decided to play Journey for the first time, desperate for some form of escape. It's impact on me was surreal, from the gorgeous visuals to the breath-taking music. I still remember connecting with some random player and feeling like we had some connection. Journey honestly made me fall in love with video games again.

Actually, [Spoiler alert]... He is dead. That's the thematic of the game. He leans toward death and the ending of is life. The whole journey is a allegory of life. First he can't move freely, like a baby, then first friends and freedom of movement (youth), then the first danger appears (adulthood), then, he is restrained in is movement and habilities (elderhood), then death. The ending can be considered as life after death or a post mortem dream.

I have just played Journey for my first time. I have gone through my first journey. When this song played, I was left speechless by the immense beauty. Everything was just so breathtaking, no words could justify describing anything... just... _reaching your destination_ after all hope is lost... being able to fly again... to enjoy the light... to fly with dragons... to soar majestically into the light... We were complete strangers, and we may end up being complete strangers, but I do have to thank the stranger online who helped me through my first experience with Journey. We never spoke, and we probably never will, but thank you for being a great companion through my travels. It meant much more to me that we have traveled together. I'm sorry I was such a troublesome beginner traveler, but you and I have made it. We've done it. Thank you, friend.

I bought Journey when it came out for the PS4, as I had heard about it being incredible. As I played it, the music, the atmosphere, the subtle cutscenes that allowed you to interpret what was happening for yourself, and the anonymous multiplayer all came together to make one of the greatest experiences of my life. It is unlike any other game, very literally, as it is hardly a game. But, it wouldn't be able to be done in a movie. That feeling of going on a Journey with someone who you will never see or speak to was incredible. And every time you got off of each others' screens, you tried so hard to find each other again; it was magical. And, if worst comes to worst, when they sit down and then disappear and log off, it's one of the most heartbreaking things I have ever experienced. Thank you to the person that made it to the end with me. I will never know you, but I will never forget you.

Flower was honestly one of the weakest, only because of the controls, sixaxis on the ps3 controller. Though even then it was by far the most functional sixaxis I have ever used in any game. Though I think Imma buy it again on the PS4 anyway even though I 100% the PS3 version.

Zamilovanej Blázen hard to explain. the story is very esoteric but basically its about a main character trying to take a journey to the top of a mountain to step into the light. there is no dialogue in the game... not a single word is spoken. I personally think the game is either about transcendence or about death and the process of crossing over. That's my opinion though; there are many theories out there about what the game means and im not sure that there is an official interpretation released by the game's creators. its up to your interpretation. make no mistake, this game is a work of pure art. with any great work of art, the true meaning is usually up to the interpreter.

Once the Apotheosis started I felt a surge of emotion that I cant describe with words...an existential punch to the gut...Without any shiny realistic graphics...those 7 minutes felt more real than anything I have every experienced in media...I wept like a baby...overcomed with joy, sorrow, wonder and resolution...Music is the closest thing to magic and I felt that for 7 minutes streight...I cant thank Austin Wintory enought for crafting such a soul-touching music...

Is it sad how it makes me happier to find someone in Journey than in real life

Completely normal. In journey we don't know anything about the other person. In real life, we at least know what they look like and based on that we can sometimes get to know what kind of person they are. Plus, we see people everday so it's just a different feeling😁

I had listened to this track prior to playing the game and it was amazing, but after playing it... my goodness. The scene where this track plays is one of the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed in my life. All the hairs of my body spiked like a porcupine.

I started my journey about a year ago.. my first play through it hurt. It made me confront every single thing happening in my head. It forced me to process everything that has happened up to that point. To this day; My journey still calls me when I need to process situations and people, my own emotions, ideals, it shines a light on everything I have done and yet to still do. That I find myself mentally plying journey when I listen to “Apotheosis” or “Nascence” It reminds me where I’ve come from; where I’ve been and still all that lies ahead.

I am listening to this drunk currently and I’m having an experience. It really makes me appreciate my friends. I hope you all get to experience the same thing. If not now then someday. Having friends is the greatest thing I’ve probably ever experienced. I hope you all get to experience the same thing, even if you aren’t now I’m sure you’ll get to someday. I didn’t for the longest time when I was in high school but then I finally did, and life felt so worth it. I only hope that all of you who are lonely right now get to experience it. For everyone that isn’t right now, just keep on pushing forward. You will someday in promise. Good luck out there dudes I’m rooting for you.

No words can describe the beauty of this game by merely saying "it is the most beautiful game in the world"... The words haven't even been invented to describe the words that haven't been invented... This is the best of the best, and with the PS4 adding more vibrant detail... There will be nothing better.

Last night a random guy on my steam friend's list gifted me this game along with a very weird note. He wrote "No clue - Enjoy da gif - Best wishes, George Flyod". Obviously I was pretty put off by this note. I hadn't talked to the guy in months, as I only ever added him to queue for a couple of csgo games. I may have been super confused, but I was also not about to refuse a free game. I opened the game and streamed it to a friend of mine on discord. Both of us were super confused with what you were supposed to do in the game, and I was planning to do one of the "levels" and just go to bed. I started the game at 11:30 pm, and told myself "one more area" atleast 3 times while playing. By about 1:00 am this song came on and made me teary-eyed. Even if this was a very short game, it may be the most moving experience I've ever had and all from a gift I was given that was so strange I nearly turned it down.

Every single time I come to this section, it just reminds me of the sweet, cool summer nights of 2015. I used to cry a lot whenever I listened to this song at night, and I commented on this same comment section while listening to this song, silently crying in my room. I commented one of the most sappy overdramatic posts here too. Wish I could read those one more time. Back then, I knew I would never get the chance to play this game, but then Journey suddenly came to PC. So, here I am. Visiting the comment section that I once read through long ago. I wish I could go back to those days. I miss them so, so much. I really do. :(

Journey sort of reminds me of when you're a kid going to a public park where you can meet anyone and explore the park together, climb trees and run across grass. In our modern world of cement and roads there are less and less of these spaces any the experiences that go with them. Journey's critical acclaim comes from finding this niche in our human condition and filling it. Thank you Thatgamecompany.
