Journey isn’t just a game you play, it’s a game you feel. Austin Wintory smashed it with the soundtrack, first game I played that had me in tears at the end, it touches your soul…….if you have one. Absolute piece of art!

It's almost like it's a...journey of some sort.
8:26-8:35 "sustained cello note that would make an angel weep"
As a couple others have noted, Austin Wintory is also the conductor here in this performance. Easy to recognize him if you've seen his interviews, etc. But the video description notes "Conductor: Ludwig Wicki"
its been passed 6 year to first time i played this game and this music brings a lot of memories and i realized i lost so much
Just played the game! A masterpiece!!!

This piece destroys me every time.
They all did a beautiful job, especially the cellist. This song gets me every time. The game is an absolute masterpiece and a work of art. I’ve played it multiple times, and I can’t get through it without shedding some tears. It touches me that much. I will never get tired of going on the Journey.
This game, including soundtrack, is a masterpiece.
Apotheosis is the best musical piece I have ever heard.
The layers in this score! Gets me like woa... at the cellular level every time. It includes every emotional state. Power, fragility, sorrow, dejection, victory, uncertainty, hope, resilience, transcendence from adversity, honor, peace, war, action, reflection... you name it, it's all there. It has all 4 seasons. ❤ good job Mr. Wintory. Thank you for your contribution. I'm inspired.
God I love seeing a musician feel their music that deeply. What a great song for it too.
Beethoven wrote an Ode To Joy. Mr Wintory created an ode to life. Absolutely sublime.
This work is such the substance of apotheosis...
If mascara was something guys wore, mine would be running... every time I hear this song. I still can't nail down precisely why, and I think I like it that way.

Journey is a work of art that you actually participate in and it affects you in a very meaningful way, at least that is my opinion. The way they were able to combine music with the visuals of the game so perfectly, still blows me away.
Great game and great soundtrack too... Tina Guo at solo violincello sublime ... Congrats to Austin Wintory the composer of the game's score ... And who is conducting the orchestra in the video. ! Epic !
This is absolutely beautiful!
Sheer, unrestrained beuty Combined with the visuals of the final level, this composition is even more stunning
Tina is on another level
It was very emotional! My favorite game!

And Tina Guo in the cello. She’s the original cellist of the game.
A introdução ficou grande, poderia ter sido menor, mas todo o restante ficou impecável.
Lovely. Wish the violins hadn't been slightly drowned out during the first part (2:08 - 2:50). If you listen to the studio recording they only move to the background during the second part. Also, as much as I like Tina Guo the occasional flourishes are uncalled for when the original is as beautiful as it is.

agree
Seriously? We needed to see Tina Guo playing pizzicato when the flutes had a melody?
I really dislike her interpretation and solo at the beginning. Because she injects so much emotional variation, it fully diminished the impact of when the rest of the orchestra finally join in for what is supposed to be a moment of huge emotional impact
seven people have problem with their mouses
The original performance by the Macedonia Radio Symphonic Orchestra is so much better. So much warmer. I think Tina Guo is a great performer, but she definitely does not do this one justice. Possibly making this a solo chello performance is detrimental to the effect as well. Here's a trailer with the original performers. @@aeon5566 Also Austin was the conductor of this performance.
I dislike the soloist and her improvisation at the start. I don't think it was on point. There is no room for improvisation in this piece, as it already fully resembles what happens at the game in the ending. Original score was just perfectly right. She also added more variation in the last verse, which I disliked too. Other than that, orchestra played flawlessly. I get it that she was the original performer at times this was recorded for the game, but this makes me wonder even more how comes that she misunderstands so much about what fits into the score and what doesn't.

For real, sponsors wanted to give the THOT more screen time so they emphasized the damn cello. Frankly didn't do the original score any justice. And her exaggerated face...you know that's some straight KZread garbage. Don't bring that into an orchestra lineup.

@@allenflores3621 You would be very disappointed to watch live shows of the songs you love the most, most of the time then, it isn’t a rare thing that the composer and the players do something different for the live show, I do agree that it does change the song too much and the original is better but as a big fan of improvisations like that I sure love it, and to see the passion on the face of the players is always beautiful in my eyes
