The ending is actually even better if you run into another player. I ran into this other wanderer about a third into the game and we stuck together all the way to the end. I remember right before this part, both of us getting beaten down by the snow, exhausted, barely able to go on. And then he dropped. I chirped weakly at him to keep going, but he couldn't get up. Unable to go on, I fell too, and the screen whited out. Next thing I know, the white cloaks show up and we're flying through the air again, using each other's songs to propel higher towards our goal. We land and see our final destination in front of us, and chirping happily, we make our way into the light together. It sounds so cheesy when I think about it, but I don't think I would have remembered it as much if it had just been me. Even if I didn't know anything about this other person, we two strangers made it to the end side by side, and even if we could only communicate through the press of a button, it was all we needed to know that this game had delivered.

Journey was the most amazing 90 minutes of my gaming life. I bawled like a baby at the end and laughed at the same time. Its such a powerful game. But seeing it on here doesn't count for having seen the end of the game, you have to have walked from the beginning and climbed to the very summit of that elusive mountain, only then is the real power and majesty of this moment made manifest....so good.

I imagine that Journey is simply about life. The mountain represents our drive to live and to be alive. We keep going because we must keep going. There's a reason to keep going and no matter how small or unnoticeable that reason is, from the scope of a loved one, all the way down to a gut feeling, we just go.

I believe it goes more profound than just life. From my point of view it's about the work of the soul, of the enlightenment. When the night/storms seems the darkest it is that we find we're about to pass the test. There are some remarkable Vajrayana concepts in Journey.

Think of it this way: It's the moment you realize that, you do trascend to another plane into existence. The journey, is to enjoy all the moments, places and experiences you may encounter thru' your life. Notice he dies [i think], when he gets to the top, to come back to life by the white dudes [which might be the ones that were able to trascend]. Your soul, is the one that gets over to the mountain top, because you, there, have no need to fly enymore, your scarf was removed, your soul does not belong to this world, yet; this game also talks about reincarnation, and do the things you did not do when you wre alive [is like a second chance], and see, enjoy and look at all the things you did not in that first travel you had. This game, also talks about a paradox, there's a point in which, you see a star coming out from the mountain while you're still in the desert, which might be you [or not, i dont know]. This game is art, this game is the above and beyond of all games so far.

The concept isn't the challenge you, as a player, but to show you the hardships that the wanderer has through his journey. It isn't about the difficulty, or the gameplay; it isn't even about the ending. It is, exactly as the name says, about the journey. It's an experience, not a game. It transcended the medium, because it wouldn't be half as powerful as it is, if it was a movie. Because you grow attached to your companions. Because you feel bad if you're forced to leave them behind.

The title of the game "Journey" really means a journey through life from birth to death. You begin being "born" in the desert and the ultimate end of the journey is to get to the top of the mountain. The light at the top literally means stepping into the light. All of the things that happen in the game are the ups and downs that one experiences in life. Getting to the top of the mountain and going into the light means you have finished life and achieved greatness. Does that make any sense?

There are some "advanced" kind of "secretive" flying moves that are pretty challenging that involve angling the camera in a specific way to fly extremely fast for long periods of time and to ascend to extreme heights. None of them displayed in this particular video, but they make the game 100 times more fun when you get the hang of them, especially when you have a skilled companion. I've completed well over 200 "journeys" into the light, and am still not bored with it. ...but, to each his own.

I’ve accidentally completed this game after picking it up after a year or 2. I didn’t even know i was at the end… I was also completely confused on what I was even playing. This game is still beautiful however..

Highly recommend replaying several times to get your own interpretation of the "story". It's a dream to play control wise, sticking with a companion through out is an emotional and beautiful experience that never fails to make me both laugh and cry with joy.

Anybody notice what looks like a snowy silhouette of a child's face on the bottom left around 4:30?

...or stepping into the light could be the "birth", and the "journey" is you traveling as a sperm through the birth process. You're a two a dimensional being throughout the game, then when you step into the light, the game ends, and you ascend to the third dimension, aka, your "real life/self". Perhaps when we die irl, we'll ascend to the fourth dimension, and realize "this" life was all just a game as well.
