    Freedom is classic Journey . I think that the best assessment of Steve and Arnel . Steve made Journey . Arnel saved it . That really is true about Arnel. Neil had been searching desperately for the right vocalist / front man and was about to call it day and then he saw that You Tube video. I like all the songs on Freedom but I especially like how Arnel takes off in the end of this one .

    In this case you want to collect albums that sound most like "JOURNEY' as you remember them sounding, and lately that "Arnel Pineda", is doing it for me..it's for us that they do it that way, you don't want anything that will make you cringe, or take you out of the moment, or sound your wanting to remember. when i first heard newer Journey i still thought Steve was singing...Arnel had me fooled that's why i like this version of the band the best....the sprit is still there..and it brings me to tears to hear sometimes..really moving.

    Solid classic journey from beginning to end. Love this album and hope they play at least 3 or 4 from Freedom on next tour set. Together We Run and Afterglow are my faves.

    It’s cool you’re blown a away on the first listen. It takes me a few listens. This was the 3rd listen. Ya this song is what I’m looking for. Amazing timeless journey. It surpasses you’ve got the best of me which is good too. I love the shamelessly cheesy synth they’ve been throwing in. Arnels voice is amazing and shons guitar soars.

    This is definitely a solid song by Journey. It's so easy being a backseat driver on these kinds of efforts by bands 30+ years later. When you already have an entire catalogue of hits fans can often set the bar beyond what is really possible. You can tell great effort was made to craft this song. Journey still knows how to craft an emotionally satisfying song. I think I like this one the most on Freedom so far since Separate Ways (same keyboard sound used in the intro of this song) was a song that my girlfriend from 8th grade dedicated to me when I went to a different school in another city.

  • @antonc2k3
    @antonc2k32 жыл бұрын

    This one has more Melodies to be noticed.. hope they will make more notable Melodies specially from keyboard or piano specially in the intro, not just the lead of Neal’s coz Jonathan’s piano makes the song distinguishable that’s easy and great to hear and remember.. on top of the good voice and the guitar.. plus deen’s good drumming.. goodnight! Piano melody is the one that makes their song more memorable such as faithfully, open arms, separate ways and of course don’t stop believing all of these have noticeable Melodies from Jonathan’s piano.. This is also true to other great songs such like jump of Van Halen and final countdown from Europe.. the keyboards make it grand and majestically memorable.. just saying co this is what I noticed.. so they should repeat the intro in the next stanza after the chorus.. thanks!

    Yes, this is the best single thus far. I don't care for the "Separate Ways" intro...they could have done something more original. But, the rest of the song is pretty good. I do think this song suffers a bit in bad production, especially the vocals. Overall, this is the best song from "Freedom" so far. The "mix" and production has been through so many people, they can't seem to get it better.

    My reaction...it's just more Steve Perry-era Journey karaoke. I get that lead singers change, but just get a new one and embrace the change. Many, MANY bands do it, but Journey feels if they don't sound like Steve Perry singing that nobody will be interested.

    Its catchy, and classic Journey sound. I'm sure theres a technical name for this, but whats it called when you try to fit too many words into a line of a song? I feel like many Journey songs over the last 15 years have very strong instrumentals, but the lyrics are just off a bit. Could that be effects of not having Perry's song-writing? I dont know. I know Cain and Schon are pretty strong writers, but maybe the 3 together had more magic? Just throwing out ideas.
