Jordan Peterson's TERRIFYING Speech (held back in 2008) | "I Came To A Terrible Conclusion!"

Our great religious traditions do continually remind us that inside every human being, there's a spark of divinity.
And that idea is a precondition for our entire system of law.
There's always the possibility that it's true.

So you play older clips wherein religion is mentioned, but it is not God or actual deity that Dr. Peterson is acknowledging. Why does the cosmos care if it is just matter and energy? Today Dr. Peterson says he believes in God, but as of yet we cannot identify the god that Dr. Peterson believes in. I do not see that Dr. Peterson as moved all that much. I will also note that anyone that says that they would not be part of Nazis regime might actually mean that because there were those that resisted Hitler from within Germany, which is why the diary of Ann Frank is even known. I would also point out that the majority of people were just soldiers and were not involved at the death camps. These soldiers thought tat they were fighting for their country and freedom. They were not the ones murdering Jews by the millions. One needed to be part of the SS and a special order within that group to belong to a death camp. I agree that Hitler is absolutely wrong as I am a Christian. The fact is that evil does not have a free reign here on Earth as God is in control. We see Hitler and know the depths to which humanity can go and that was not even the worst that humanity can offer. We do not need evil though to perform good. We can know God who is the source and standard of all good and therein is no evil. We can have light without shadow.

Judge not lest you be judged my friend….we are all on a journey… “I Am the Way…the Truth and the Life” says Jesus… He is the Only Way out of here… Jesus is God… God is Love… Jesus commands are pure LOVE, but are impossible to obey without His Love in us… Jesus’s Life demonstrates true Love, He laid It down for us, forgave even those who hated and crucified Him, His commands to us were to love God more than anyone and anything in this world, but to love others even our enemy more than ourselves, to forgive our enemy, pray for our enemy, and if our enemy takes from us, give him more… this is what Jesus did! But He really gave us these commands, so that through our failures to obey them, our own vile wretched hearts would be exposed to us, revealing to us that we are indeed the enemy of our own souls…with prideful, envious, greedy, selfish, angry, mean, hateful, murderous hearts, we too are evil. We are all guilty of all the same things that we accuse and condemn our fellow man of being … and unless we believe God/Jesus Who paid the ultimate penalty for the sin of the world, then we have no Hope at all to be free from its destruction, it is our sin that causes evil, we have brought evil upon ourselves and our neighbor, our evil behavior has cursed not only us but all of creation, evil disrupted the perfect order of God’s creation, sending the cosmos into utter chaos.. and this is why the world remains enslaved in war and fear, history will forget and continue to bury every empire we attempt to build .. just as the Bible illustrates, we will journey seeking a promised land, build back better will never happen, as we continue to seek to be God and worship ourselves, we will have no Light and the darkness shall overcome us, and off the cliff we fall again and again who even knows how many millions of years we have been traveling in this valley of the shadow of death, but God tells us in History (His story) that we shall continue to wander in this world until every tongue, tribe and nation finally calls on the Name of Jesus… Jesus asks many questions but the most important one is “Who do you say that I Am?” So why not ask Jesus to reveal Himself to you… He promises that if you ask Him you shall receive… . Whosoever believes Jesus, calls on His Name, not take His Name in vain, shall be forgiven and be saved. Will you be freed from this prison planet… your soul has an eternal destiny…where will you choose to go? Mankind are not bodies with a spirit we are eternal spirits in a temporary body, our spirit has eternal life for we are the sons of God… His Love is the Power of eternal Life

We should learn to tread lightly in the world. Not crushing anything that is wholesome and good, but giving and blessing and lifting the fallen, wherever we may. But we also need to understand that we must resist evil even to the point of drawing and using our swords, in order to defend the weak and helpless and downtrodden. Jesus made a whip of cords and drove the money changers out of The Temple, (this is truly an awesome feat... one man had so much passion so as to drive 10s or maybe hundreds of hardened men, from the Temple precincts.) So at times the gentle Lamb, must rise up and say no! To tyranny and hatred and repression, whatever guise it may be hiding in.

Terence, Paul isnt suggesting to us to be violent but protectors. If you have someone you love in your life, consider if someone openly tried to harm or attack them, physically or verbally. Would you protect them or stand up for them? Would that act of protection make you a violent person? As a protector, we stand up for the innocent and what is right. The goal isn't violence, but it may include a physical response. It is the heart behind the action that distinguishes it and the extent to which the action is carried out.

@bluered blew Truth which guids one to his salvation is only to be found in the Bible. Therefore i'd recommend not to put to much value on the organisation that you want to be a part of, before you've truly strengthened your relationship to Christ. This will then also allow you to see which churches have lots of corruption in them and which ones less or almost non. But if you ask me; go for the seventh day adventist's :). For their focus is on the bible (believing in its words absolute authority)- therefore Jesus Christ - therefore their belief is harder to be corrupted by temptations and evil. Might be less fun than other chruches but their mission is one of meaning. Best wishes my friend and remember that if you seek truth and rightousness you will always be led to Christ.

I was deeply moved by Mr. Peterson's words (like every time I hear him speak, or read his words) to the point of tears. But I want to suggest that the birds-eye view he offers in this talk, makes everything so extreme in size, that it is either terrible or wonderful, and somehow the everyday, day-to-day, small things that make up living moral lives, get lost in his words. People might cower from taking a good and moral path, when such stakes are taken, but in reality its a small gesture here, some contribution there, a smile in the right place, and saying "No" in the right moment and place, it's being honest with yourself in elections, and many small things that work you out of the darkness.

The secret to enlightenment is to lay down your intelligence and trust the faith of your inner child. The spark of divinity in the human is the presence of The Holy Spirit, only able to understand that when you have been born again, of the spirit. This can only happen by the power of God, which is The Cross. And for this to be real to you requires faith/trust In Christ. Yes, Jesus is The Way, The Truth and The Life. Not just deciding to be morally good, because of the law of sin in the flesh, we will always miss the mark. But , He who knew no sin was made to be sin, so that we might be the righteousness of God, "In Christ" !!!!!!

Wrong. That spark is Satan. Ephesians 2:1-9 [1]And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; [2]Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: [3]Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. [4]But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, [5]Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) [6]And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: [7]That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. [8]For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9]Not of works, lest any man should boast.

When we study the despots and the criminals of history we can see what happens to the human heart when we flee from GOD. If we’re honest with ourselves when we study the despot’s and criminal’s of history, we have the opportunity to understand how desperately we need the LORD Jesus Christ in our lives!!!

I believe in the act of the current moment and stories (well approached) can help to navigate in that proces of consciousness. Jordan is not a messiah, he is a psychological science-based professor that finds evidence in the power of storytelling. I've seen lately the 8 hour dialog on stage between Jordan and Sam Harris and I was intrigued by both. What Sam thinks about religion, Iam standing for, but Jordan's way of seeing the world(with or without religion) is also very good and I take it with my view of perception. On religion topics they are the opposite, but there strongest motivation is a better life for the individual. that's worth listening to in my opinion.

The issue with religion is that it creates more problems than it addresses. Genuine spirituality, on the other hand, has no downside to it at all. The only thing genuine spirituality is concerned with is raising the quality of your own being, becoming a better person, and helping others do the same. So much hate, strife and violence is caused by people being mind-locked in one particular religious dogma or another. And this religious division has been happening since the beginning of religion within human cultures. Focusing your mind and energy on becoming a better person and helping others do the same simply does not cause hatred, strife and violence within people. Religion ain't the way, Jordan. It's an obstacle to the way.

But the. They present a situation by saying those dead children are with god so it’s okay. You cannot be ethically or morally serious by such hypocrisy. I wouldn’t accept something just because people asserted it no - why would anyone accept such a extraordinary claim without evidence. First you would have to demonstrate it was a miracle - remember a miracle is a suspension of the natural order because of not then it is just a natural occurrence and amazing natural occurrences happen all the time. Then you would have to demonstrate god exists to firstly tie the miracle to the god of your choice. You have a lot of work in front of you and it’s not the fault of atheists to not be convinced by extraordinary claims when no evidence is presented. Do you accept the miracles claimed to have been done by Hindu gods or under the name of Islam? You don’t do you, why is that?

  • @jieyangchen1562

    @jieyangchen1562

@@colinross3755 You got some point. Miracle is claimed by humans, so I can't proove anything that it's a miracle or not. Based on people religion, when a "miracle" happen, people would say that it's the work of their god(s), but miracle can't proove the existance of god. So we can't say if a miracle is made by God or not. People claim that God made a miracle, not to proove his existance, but to be thankful to him, because they love their god. People who preach miracle are people who preach a religion. They are people who share their hapiness and experience and is happy because they believe that their god is with them. Then, claimed miracle aren't real true miracle, but a word to express the work of God in life. In our religion, God work in our life. But if children die from sickness, this is a natural thing. Same for dead from war or from accident, there is a natural responsible. Everyone will die. But don't think that if a person is being thankful to God for saving a life rather than a million is awful. If that person is thankful for one, he would be more for a million. Then with your example, you can't proove that God doesn't exist or is false by judging the action of a religious, it makes no moral sense. Hypocrisy is in everybody, I am and you are. We are born sinner, no one is perfect. You can't say that a religious is hypocrite just because because he sinned although he know by himself that it is a sin. Real hypocrits are people who lie : they sin without knowing. After all, there is no human who doesn't sinned except Jesus. We christians, by the Holy Spirit, know our sin, and we can be forgiven by Jesus. Christians never claimed that they never sinned or are perfect. Real christian know God and Jesus and trust them, so they know they are sinners. CHristians don't think they are over all the people on Earth, but believe they are saved by Jesus. May you understand what I wrote, my english is not perfect. What I want you to know is that there is no nonhypocrits

@@jieyangchen1562 Hi jieyang, I agree claimed miracles doesn’t prove good and it doesn’t even prove it was a miracle as that also needs demonstrating. Therefore claiming miracles is really useless and if done to thank their god just thank him instead of attributing miracles which can’t be proved. It is awful to thank god for saving one when millions die - it is not ethical or moral because it is not taking seriously the idea that god is all powerful and if he is choosing for some people to suffer and not others when he is powerful enough to remove suffering if he wanted. You are praising him for causing suffering that he could otherwise do away with. Nobody can prove something doesn’t exist, proving a negative can’t be done - you can’t disprove leprechauns can you but that doesn’t mean they exist, same for god. The burden of proof lies with those making the claim. You claim god exists but won’t provide the evidence. The bible is the claim not the evidence and you can’t use the bible to prove the bible as that is circular reasoning which is a fallacy. It’s really sad that you think you are a sinner for simply being born - that’s the power of religion to make people feel like they are worthless. The god character in the bible is an immoral monster. He instructs and sanctions genocide, slavery, rape, incest, women being unequal to men, being against homosexuality, stoning of adulterers and non virgin brides, original and hereditary sin, blood sacrifice and infinite punishment for finite crimes of not believing. These are immoral things which your god instructs and sanctions in the bible and you think that’s okay?

(through means which carry a sacrificial element which we ourselves seem to deem as an acceptable justification) try to imagine yourself as the creator of a world of creatures… you try to lead them on a path that is good for them but by their disobedience they lead them selfs astray and if you don’t intervene at some point the entirety of your creation will be infected. it’s like having a singular bad rotten apple in a bag of several apples that you might have to throw out to save the rest. now, and this is important, add the fact that unlike apples we are humans with a conscious and understanding therefore actually capable of receiving the instructions that if followed will promise a life of harmony but if not will lead to us infecting each other. I think it becomes quite clear that God isn’t evil and not does God do evil to us but rather we do evil to ourselves and any man on this planet has certainly been a witness of that!

All is explained in the Bible, I too did not believe in this book because of the terrible things that the church did, but this is also explained in the Bible.Gods words are true. This world want to explain us that we are smart monkeys, but God said he made us in his image. This world will explain us that there are millions of truth, but there is only one truth. Search for it, with all you heart. Jesus said: The truth will set you free, I finally KNOW what it means by reading his word. God bless you all!

Wonder if Jordan Peterson has ever considered being a priest. The theological world could really use him.

Actually I think that would hurt his cause and cause of the church. Then people could say he is biased and speaking from his dogma instead of from the intellectual. His position now is perfect for displaying the morays and knowledge of God and the Bible.

What can you do if you are competing with a lying SOB? I've experienced that being honest and good wins in the end. But the lying SOB wins in the short run.

focus on the medium-long term outcome not the temporary. do a favor for the future you. the goal is not to win merely a battle but to come out as victorious in the entirety of the “war”.

I believe these stories bulid a framework society needs to keep caos at bay. Without framework the picture falls, gets damaged or destroyed. Region is a tool of separation and control fueled by fear of eternal damnation based on where you live in the world.

I've been a witness of evil humans for many years of my life, even been held down by some of them...and often mentally abused by them. You choose; either be a DEVIL, or a CHILD OF GOD. I've been solo for many years...I make JESUS CHRIST/GOD the CENTER OF MY WORLD. God gives me complete Clarity on many issues that are happening here on Earth. I will NEVER DENY GOD is REAL and TRUE!

Will it guard you against gods worst ideas like slavery, genocide, rape, blood sacrifice, women unequal to men, being against homosexuality, stoning of adulterers and non virgin brides etc etc - can you be ethically or morally serious by your comment?

@@colinross3755 Slavery- The Commandment says "Thou shall not steal". Genocide - Pretty sure some cultures were a lot more barbaric than you are thinking of, as well as more stubborn than a gun-toting american. Rape - God never promotes rape, and, in multiple cases, condemns it. Blood sacrifice - Ancient people ate meat, diseases were in blood and certain animals, and crime requires punishment. Did you notice that none of these sacrifices were human? Sexual equality - In case you haven't noticed, men and women are more different than men and men. That's like saying your hands are equal to your feet. Men can't give birth and women can't lift more. Therefore, men and women are not truly equal. Homosexuality - God commanded us to "be fruitful and multiply". Gays can't. Stoning - The Commandment says "Thou shall not commit adultery". "Can you be ethically or morally serious by your comment?" Absolutely, because, unlike you, I'm not cherry picking the verses and I can follow the Lord as zealously as atheists follow the science (TM) . Because, even though you follow the science (TM) , I can bet you don't understand half of it. I can also claim, with confidence, that atheism is the most illogical religion in the world, because it posits that all of existence came from nothing, by nothing or that it has always existed, violating the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics.

@@colinross3755 Honestly, your objections to God's moral judgments are so ignorant, arrogant, and uniform that I could expect them to be written by a 5th grader, a rebellious teenager, or a leftist college student. Here's 2 rules to assume: 1. God knows everything. 2. God gets to decide what's right and wrong for His creation. And, normally, people who deviate tend to end up in a hell of their own making. Communist dictatorships, deadly STDs, miserable millionaires, etc. And no, I won't pretend that all Christians are holy saints or that the Church has always been a faithful bride.

If 5% of worlds population will truly understand this lecture the world will change & become a better place. Even most people who watched this most likely won't fully understand the depth of this talk. You got to be a philosopher/social scientist to actually fully grasp it.
