OPEN Your Eyes | Jordan Peterson: "We're Facing Something Greater Than Ourselves"

"We have to have a serious conversation about this.
Where do we derive? From where do we validly derive our values?
And so I've spent my whole life trying to understand that, and partly because I was terrified into pursuing that question because part of the way people derive their values sometimes is by falling prey to totalitarian ideologies.
And then what happens?
Well, millions of people die. Or we start a war and maybe a thermonuclear war?
This isn't an optional...This exercise isn't optional..." - JP
(comment) Is this relatable to the world crisis we're having today? Is it clear now for everybody how crucial the development of the individual is? Only one individual has the power to change the world, for the better, or for the worse.

So very True PoM. Light and darkness are polar opposites, evil is the "choice" that brings us into opposition to our Awesome Father. If we'd only follow the direction of Christ in Matthew 22:37-40 we'd please our Heavenly Father and we'd change the world: Matthew 22:37-40 * Jesus told him, You shall love the Father with all of your HEART, SOUL, and MIND. * This is the first and great commandment. * And the second is just like it, You shall love your neighbour as thyself. * On these two commandments hang ALL the LAW and the PROPHETS. This would truly change the world!!!

When you mentioned architecture I would like to point out that some of these projects took centuries to complete. That is something we are hardly able to conceive today, and the reason for that may lay with a general outlook of society at large. The generations that build the great cathedrals really thought of themselves as gods children and doing god work on earth. And it doesn't matter if they were right, like a sportsteam believing in their victory even against the odds, they had vision. I don't think we realize how nihilistic and thus negativistic our contemporary society has become, as we are all in the middle of it.

So IF your purpose is not for God then it is by default for Satan but that doesn't mean we do not strive and is a process of growing but that should be the goal...to grow in God and not self righteousness and the flesh.

Knowing that my ideas on existence are not totally 'off the wall' is reassuring to day the least. These are questions that I have pondered all my life, and I am almost 80 now and was beginning to wonder if I would ever tie up any of the loose ends. That is happening now. It is of course a never ending process. How I survived this long is a miracle, but I have, all my faults notwithstanding. Onwards and, hopefully, upwards.

You are correct. This is a serious conversation to have. We are facing something greater than man can know. It is clear with those with eyes to see and ears to hear BUT most of humanity has closed their eyes and ears to God's word and what is coming upon this world. They will be caught as a thief in the night - unaware, and fearful. Question: "Where do we derive?" Answer: From our creator; God. Genesis 1:26 KJV "And God said, Let us make man in our image...." Question: "From where do we validly derive our values?" Answer: God. He gave us the 10 Commandments Exodus 20 KJV Question: "What lens should we look at the world through, and how should you act?" Answer: KJV Titus 2:11,12 - For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world. Romans 12:2 - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Colossians 3:2 - Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Ephesians 6:12 - For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Joshua 24:15 - “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve...." Matthew 6:24 - " No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." Matthew 4:4 - “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”

I really like how Eckhart Tolle speaks about living in the now and viewing our surroundings as it exists in that moment, void of preconditioned interpretation. I also find that on a more extreme end if things, that people like Dolores Cannon resonate when they talk about souls and our purpose on this planet. How ‘life’ exists in all creatures and objects. It links to the molecular level and how we’re all connected. If we can understand that we all originate from ‘the source’ then wars cease to be relevant. That this life is simply one of many perhaps, with lessons to be learned, can free us of the burden of worry and anxiety. I was raised an atheist but the more I learn from various subject ‘field experts’, the happier I’ve become, knowing that many events or challenges are there to guide us toward better outcomes or enhanced spiritual awareness.

Well you read it and study it just about everyday for 10, 15, 20, 50, 80 plus years. Its different for everybody. I know God, I walk in covenant with God and I Love God. I fear God as well and that is the beginning of Love because until you fear disobeying God and causing God to look upon you in shame so you feel horrible then you can not love Him. I started this walk when I was 32, to look for God. I started to actually begin to find God when I was 39 and sealed myself to God as the gospel tells us to, those of us who listen to the gospel teacher and not the ones who came after him, know to take up the commandments of God and to seek out our roots back to Abraham and to Moses and Yehoshua and the prophets so we become firm in knowledge of what GOD ALONE asked of us. It took me several years of fighting sin and the devil by obeying God. I fought the sin out of me with God's help, by his instructions in the written word. It is a very narrow road and as the mattan/Matthew gospel says very few will find it. We have to fight Satan and the whole world that serves him in sin in order to get out and the one who will help is God alone because we can't trust anyone else. I am with God, God provides for myself and my family and yes there is absolutely evidence BUT not until you absolutely come clean, in thought, word and deed, the absolute opposite of all the lying religions. The gospel was sent down to free us from sin by sending us to our teacher and if you reject it then you are freed from God into sin perpetually and to death spiritually from God which as I can now see is absolutely hell on earth, your light you pretend to have is absolutely darkness caused by your unwillingness to even try to obey God. I speak to 99% of the population. If you can't put everyone first after God and stop yourself from all sin THEN YOUR NOT WORTHY AND YOU ARE ALREADY FINISHED BEFORE YOU EVEN STARTED. So come out of all sun, take up the commandments and begin your battle, call to GOD ALONE, LEARN YOUR ROOTS, BE GOD'S PEOPLE. FIGHT SATAN WHO IS THE SINNERS INNER VOICE, THE CONSCIENCE THAT LEADS YOU TO HURT YOU, that's not you, it's Satan the deceiver. If you come to God and pass the trials cleansing yourself by obedience then GOD WILL BECOME YOUR CONSCIENCE AND YOU WILL LOVE GOD AND HATE SIN, SATAN WILL FLEE FROM YOU. SO there it is Mr Peterson Peace, the ball in in your court Be wary of this world, it is the valley of death, you need God's light and God doesn't dwell with sin or sinners. Not until they begin the journey to stop sin. 😀😉

And that if cities turned the lights out every once in a while and people went out to look at the stars and reflect, then more people would believe in God. That may or may not be true, I just thought it was lovely. Jordan Peterson really captures that experience of belief when looking at the sky and pondering on our existence.

When CS Lewis was struggling with his atheism, he once wrote, that if there is an all-powerful good God, whybis is there so much evil in the world? But then he asked himself, from where did I get this idea of good and evil? That's what Peterson is talking about here. And eventually, Lewis realized his idea of good, and evil, came from God.

Good & evil isn’t an ‘idea’. It’s reality. Both very much exist.

I am thankful for the meaning that God ( creator God ) through creation itself, through music, through love, through awe ( when we look at a new born life ) & the night skies Through answered prayers 🙏🏻 People who say there is no God, its true for them, there is no God. they have deemed themselves unworthy through unbelief. Its sad. How do you explain colours to a blind man ?

@@martinkent333 Almost 2,000 years ago, a rabbi named Gamaliel was asked what should be done with the first Jews who became Catholic. "Leave them alone," Gamaliel said. "If this movement is from men, it will destroy itself. But if it is from God, you will not be able to destroy it. And you may even find yourself fighting against God." After 2,000 years of the Church surviving relentless attack, that should be a hint that you cannot kill a Church that refuses to stay dead once you've killed it. Judaism and Catholicism are two phases of the same Divine Plan of salvation. Judaism was the bud, Catholicism is the flower. Shalom.

wms72. Acts chapter 5:34 - 42 Rabbi Gamli'el was not speaking about "Catholicism" or "The Church" - he was speaking of the Disciples/followers of Yeshua of Nazaret. Jews who believed He is The Messiah. Acts ch 5 Verse 41-42 attest to them proclaiming Him daily in both The Temple (Jewish), and from house to house. Catholicism arose as a religion after King Constantine
