Brilliant. We need a series of just Dr. Peterson analyzing classic movies and stories! (I'd watch The Snail King 😂)

You'd essentially be taking a class with him at UofT. I'm canadian, I grew up seeing some of his short clips late at night on TVO. Didn't have a clue what he was talking about at the time.

That has to be the most profound visual analysis ever. And he's not even formally trained as a film critic.

Not just the first scene Jordan. The whole movie is brilliant.

This is the first of many videos on the lion king story
Pescador de Hombres! I am the Disney Golden Age Generation. I kinda made that up, although I have heard of "The Golden Age of Disney"- 1989-1999. No other intelectual, or psychologist, has ever helped me understand the pyschological significance of some of these great movies that I and SO MANY OTHERS who are NOW ADULTS, and parents even, saw SO MANY TIMES. We didn't really understand, or could explain, WHY, we saw these movies so many times. Mine is The Little Mermaid, and before that Sleeping Beauty. What I really want to say, as I always do, is THANK YOU! It all makes sense now. ALL OF IT. It brings me peace, and confidence. And of course, now all movies seem to suck in comparison. People need to create new stories, and stop making these remakes and manipulating us. It's not going to work. Not at all. Thank you SO MUCH. Te amo!
these are the types of videos we subscribed for
I don't know where he'll go with this but I always loved that opening scene.

One of if not my favorite Peterson lectures on my favorite film. I actually based by 15+ page paper for AP Lit on the film with this lecture as a often referenced secondary source.
Thank you Jordan. ✝️❤️
❣️❣️ I’m here to listen. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with the world. ✨ Blessings upon you and your family. 🪄💖✨
I think Nietzsche's übermensch coming to revaluate all values for himself is more relevant now than ever; We are seeing a decline in traditional religious practice and a simultaneous explosion of 'religiosity' (the human need for communion, ritual, morality etc). This means the world is a petrie dish of germination for new religious movements (wokeism, influencers, life-coaches etc) and so a possible hell in the making or the emergence of a syncretic religion. Individuals are exploring this and coming up with their own values to navigate this landscape. Figures like Jordan help it along by integrating them. We are in unprecedented times.

Nice yeah👍
Aren't we overthinking things a little bit here? The sunrise= Morning Pride Rock= Castle/Kingdom Cub is born= Prince is born The Prince is presented to the crowds becsuse he will one day be "King", instead of the current King's brother (Scar) It's the plot point that sets the whole movie in motion....thats it. It's a Disney movie. We're not talking about big thinkers here. If we were, they would have been faithful to the original story it's based on.
It's amazing how a sufficiently smart and wise and educated person can take anything at all and analyze it into a deep and interesting story. I bet you could get AI to generate a random collection of sentences and Dr Peterson could tell you a whole story about what it means and why it's important for your life.
@mrknarf4438

That would be just rambling about nothing, which is not the case here. This is a story that has profoundly impacted our lives, a story that we keep watching and being interested in, likely due to its archetypal undertone. Making giants out of windmills is something scammers and dishonest people do :)
imagine showing up to a Peterson lecture LATE. wow
This could explain some of my differences with Mr Peterson on seeing the world since I am nocturnal, I do see better at night vs day (blinding) so could simply be we don't see, not could see the same thing.
One of my all time favourite lectures by him - learnt SO much
I love the movie since it came out qhen i was 12...today at 40, I appreciate it even more. 🙏❤
Epic!!!🙌🏻💗
How would you ever take notes in this class. There is so much information so fast.
Jordan I love you so much

what is the word he uses prourdeit ?
This man is freaking brilliant. One of the greatest thinkers since the ancient Greeks.
The Sea snail in Dr Doolittle was pretty impressive to be fair, it could've been a King.
The leo (lion) is a fire (sun) element.
In the buried stories I like, the sun is a goddess, and she is often the goddess of fertility and war. Some people intended to erase those old stories.
Depends what you mean by Hakuna
Lions sleep 20 hours a day but it’s not because they are lazy monarchs. It’s because unlike antelope and zebras, they don’t have to be awake and alert of other predators.

... alert to ... ... aware of ...
Although one fact was missing. The entire Lion King story was stolen from Kimba, a japanese animation. But that would be another discussion of originalities. Story analysis wise, I'm wondering if Dr Peterson would love to dissect Attack On Titan tv series.. i can't stop watching it in awe after once went through your lecture about Pinocchio & Lion King... (Which I also listened in awe)
@excession3076
Жыл бұрын
Or it was stolen from Shakespeare and Hamlet. That's kind of the point that JP has been trying to get across, the stories are archetypes and have been told for thousands of years. What he is interested in is why the same stories are told over and over again and they transcend the "rational" and appeal to something deeper/spiritual and yet they are understood at some base level. So we keep wanting to hear them.
@williamsastrawanto6501
Жыл бұрын
@@excession3076 what I mean is, the entire Lion King story is literally plagiated from Kimba. Not the archetype. And like I mentioned, it's another kind of discussion out from the topic of the content.
Dr P, i smoke weed so i dont dream because i cant controle my dreams and i often get bad realistic dreams of past trauma but also totally rondom bad dreams

Ok that was pretty good . .i'll give you that.
I fucking love The Snail King, it's my favorite movie. Don't knock it till you try it.
Well done, fair enough 😊....So deep Have been reading 12 Rules for life.. Antidote to chaos for sometime approximately 6 to 7 months at least once a week or more and listen to its audio when am in a quiet place, have also read few subtitles in 12 more rules... Gladly, have discovered something amazing and tremendously strong about the author...would you like to hear it?
JP is a world treasure.
Cute spokes gal. Congrats. 🎉 ! I’m coming ❤❤
Those people who turned up late for a JP lecture better have had a good excuse
Disney: There was a good King named Mufasa. He had an evil, jealous brother named Scar. Scar kills Mufasa, so that he can take over. Mufasa's son Simba leaves, but then later returns and attacks Scar to avenge his father and regain his kingdom. KMT: There was a good King named Osiris (Asar). He had an evil, jealous brother named Seth (Set). Seth kills Osiris, so that he can take over. Osiris' son Horus (Heru) leaves, but then later returns and attacks Seth to avenge his father and regain his kingdom.
And all that was packed in just... what, 5 minutes or not even that? Have to watch the full lecture!
😆 to forget be a blessing. But just work helping others where your able to help. Just Fill the mind with creation; creating things from nothing. God can't multiply talents that's not put to work or effort towards such?
Not just comment on it, but describe the very essence of the movie lol
I miss when movies were made to stimulate, entertain and educate rather than push an agenda.
I can't help but think "yeah, it _could_ be all that... but it could also not be that at all." All this stuff seems impossible to prove.
Whaaaaats on the menu, it’s a piece of pizza, not Zuri! -It’s what we say when I pick up my youngest.
