“He that ruleth his(own) spirit( is greater) than he that taketh a city” is a true passage. The hope is that , the one who works on his self will change the city by the notion that WE are all one and therefore when WE heal and help our selves to be better, it reflects o to the city/world🌟🌟🌟

The usual phrasing of that one bugs me, it doesn’t work well with English. Here’s the Amplified Bible version rephrased further by me: “He who is slow to anger and controls his innermost self is better and more honorable than a mighty conquerer who has captured a city.”

It's quite interesting how the story of the tower ob babel and the story of the great flood are more or less polar opposites. One deals with an unordered society where the people only indulge in self gratification and refuse to build the structures that might save them from the great flood. The other deals with a society where the people are obsessed with building structures and are, as a consequence, detached from their own roots to such a degree that they grow apart from each other, which creates disunity, which causes the whole structure to collapse on itself. Seems like neither order->tyranny or freedom->chaos is the solution on its own.

We were meant to live in order under God, but now humanity can't walk alongside Him in the "cool of the evening" as man did in the garden. So He set a system called the Law. But it was an inward Law, not outward, and "everyone did what was right in their own eyes" regardless. So they decided they wanted a human king/ruler over them. (Judges).

  • @loki-of-asgard7877

I read somewhere that most people prefer to act than to think because physical movement oddly causes less stress than problem solving. It gives the illusion of progress because it feels good while hard contemplation on the other hand creates discomfort. This do it now and instant gratification mentality makes you more likely to be controlled by others who would love to do the thinking for you. We all seen this play out among the left. Spoiled college students who demand immediate attention and purpose. Little do they realize you create the meaning in life, it's not given. We are created in our creators image which makes us mini creators too. Pick up a brick and start building. Tearing things down is easy, but creation...Well that not only requires hard work, but psychological & spiritual growth. It literally builds character.. Just remember to think before you act. Plan, set goals, and be honest about your own short comings. It's the only way to improve. Mistakes are God's way of saying do better.

Right now I’m the best I’ve ever been but only because the opportunity finally came along. Life actually got better when I stopped blaming myself for everything. That isn’t to say that I don’t hold my self accountable. I should be better no matter the obstacle.

The ability of governments to not do what they want done is high. A local county was alarmed that most female dogs were not licensed. To increase licensing they increased to size of the fine, and lowered the cost for licensing to less than fining. SO it was cheaper to not license and chance the fine. hen folks just stopped licensing their dogs.

He’s lecturing us on staying within our narrow competencies rather than getting broadly political, yet he talks as if he has expertise on issues as disparate as climate science, Marxism, religion, foreign policy, child psychology, and workplace dynamics, among basically everything else he’s asked about. That’s the sign of a politician. Experts are far more restrained and reluctant to get in others’ lanes.

If you're ruling a city, I don't think you can rule yourself. In trying to rule yourself as a ruler, you'd PRAISE yourself as a ruler, seeing yourself as you hope for your ppl to see you, blinded by the admiration by which you'd intend to be beheld, as our leaders even now might conflate their effectiveness as leaders with their own celebrity; you might be better off in the hands of a fully admitted celebrity than if you deposited absolute power into an Obama of late night TV or the guy after him who had his own show (kanye2024,f*ck it, why not). I like that Prof. Peterson walks us through the concerns of the potentially tyrannical classes who admittedly recognize the very arrogance of the intellect they also mean to warn their ppl against. There are not so very many examples of "the good king." I'm not sure they want ppl to know, but for someone to be good as well as powerful, they have to empower and obey their ppl.

It’s rich to see JP lecture us on staying within our narrow competencies. He makes confident claims on everything from climate science to foreign policy to child psychology to workplace dynamics to religion to Marxism. That’s what a politician does, not an expert.

He's saying that if you aren't competent in your closest things you can't be trusted to be competent in distant things. Jordan is competent in his closest things, he has one wife he's been with since his 20s, successful children, and a career as a world recognized psychologist before he rose to general popularity in 2015.

@@gobomanaga5615 He also recently had a very long nervous breakdown and has delusional ideas like an all-meat diet. But that’s not my point. He’s welcome to be imperfect, as we all are. I’m saying his logic of competence should extend to intellectual life. And he keeps going to rings of knowledge farther and farther out from his central expertise of child psychology. He rests much of his intellectual project on big claims about Marxism without understanding that field (see his debate with Zizek) - and now we are supposed to believe he’s an expert on climate science?

Reality manifests like a dream from the collective subconsciousness of all living things. Nothingness made something as we collectively believe it into existence, with physical laws drawing power from the reinforcement of conscious observations. Life and death are mere illusions we face from a limited grasp of our true existence. We are one, that is God, all is eternal.

The Christian religion wouldn't have taken off if there weren't miracles to substantiate it. Jesus said his words will never die, and here the world is falling apart as Satan is closer than ever to getting rid of Jesus from society. Jesus is God.

Both are probably easier if you can gain weak men's trust by targeting vulnerable trans folks calling them demons so you share a mutual scapegoat to prop up their ego and bind their feeling of strength to you through a common enemy. Manipulating them into alliance over that will make you friends as well as soldiers, JP. Though they may ultimately be a group of low quality men.
