Jordan Peterson and Bishop Barron, Episode 431, Cutup 2 (Work properly done becomes play)

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

The full Episode 431 of The Dr. Jordan B. Peterson Podcast can be found here: • Eternal Truth and the ... . This clip focuses on the conversation they had about work as the highest form of play.
Dr. Peterson asks us to imagine a form of work that allows us to not sacrifice the present to the future, but to align it perfectly? That form of work would be signaled by the emergence of the spirit of play.
The Kingdom of God is the garden in which mankind can eternally play, and that play would be the highest form of play. It would be like a piece of music that gets better as it unfolds, like an upward-moving spiral where everything is already as good as you can imagine it, but it's getting better.

An old Eastern Orthodox Christian saying is that "you more you know God, the more you love Him, and the more you love Him the more he reveals Himself to you." Therefore heaven in experience of you learning more and more about God and at each stage loving Him more and more. One long eternal positive cycle, in which you can't exhaust the goodness of God.

This is a brilliant move by Bishop Barron - Peterson is such a brilliant man, and I'm not sure that he really wants to believe, but Bishop Barron is allowing Peterson to verbally reason all of this out vocally more to HIMSELF than to anyone else. Peterson's own vocal reasoning here is doing all the work to convince him of the truth of all of this. You can't convince truly brilliant people of invisible mysterious truths - they must study and journey on their own, they must reason it all out to themselves, thus no matter if they want to or not, they will eventually confess the undeniable truth to themselves. John Henry Cardinal Newman ABSOLUTELY wanted no part in the Catholic faith. But the more studying he did, the deeper his dive into the writings of the Church fathers convinced him beyond any shadow of a doubt that Catholicism was the ultimate truth, and thus no matter the price, he had to convert.

The words don't deliver the truth, they only point to it is what the spiritual people have said..if one thinks that the word do deliver, then all they are left with is an idea.

Two thoughts: a) I always want to hear Jordan Petersons take on things, but I really want hear Bishop Barron's too. b) Jordan's enthusiasm for the topic as almost childlike. he comes across as a precocious child who can't shut up, which is charming even while being annoying.

@@Regan4491 He has a distinctive vocal tone and style of speech. There have arisen some comics who have done impressions of him which were very on point. Sometimes Peterson's distinctive vocal tone and style of speech is particularly marked, strong or noticeable, that is when I consider him to seem like a caricature of himself.

You speak in religious terms way more than you realize when you talk about right/wrong, good and evil. Or when you assign value to anything, which do you do almost every second of every day.
