To be honest this was the biggest moment of all of their careers. Not Seth Rollin's first WWE Championship, not Roman's pathetic shove-in-your-face "push", OK maybe Ambrose post-Shield until 2018 was great but this was the most likeable version of all of these guys. Since then, Roman has evolved from annoying "Big Dog" to 3 ½ year+ top champion, Rollins has evolved from Authority Lackey to the Modern Day Macho Man, and Ambrose is now in AEW bleeding every time he gets punched (still love you Mox!)

Trips made the right decision moving The Shield away from Punk, and just making them their own force. A leaderless brotherhood, with a all for one and one for all mentality, shit worked. Moxley confirming that CM Punk was involved in sparking the idea of the Shield early on really just shows how much of what he said on the Colt Cabana podcast in 2014 was more or less true. He really is the Bret Hart of this era: immensely talented, incredible as both a face and a heel, over with fans throughout the WWE, but completely fucked over by the top brass. You might say both are too bitter and need to get over it - idk. The circumstances of Moxley leaving to AEW seem to confirm how the WWE have become complacent and too large for a company for its own good.

Jon is right, The Shield worked because the group was the character. They worked so well as a unit you saw them as an individual unit instead of the individual wrestlers. That's why the reunion's never worked. They were already their own individual characters by that point and it never felt the same again. Plus it didn't help they were using Roman's music instead of the original theme. It reeked of WWE trying to use The Shield as another gimmick to get Roman over. It felt like it was Roman and The Shield instead of The Shield. Honestly, they never should have reunited them.

Love hearing JR talk about the Mid-South. I grew up in the Houston-Galveston area and Mid-South and WCCW is what aired on local tv before the WWF went national. What I hated more than ever about the early days of Vince gobbling up territories was the way he'd bring in (for this example) the top tier of Mid-South like duggan, and either bury them or make them complete jokes.

So good to see Jon looking so good! I am a huge fan, and on a personal note, I wish Jon, Renee and their child all the best. They deserve it. As a Canadian , I had hoped Renée would fit with Jon (Dean). I had basically list interest in WWE, and wrestling, as a fan, and then the SHIELD came out. The only reason I watched WWE again, for sure. I do muss miss those days! They were great Brothers, had each other's back, and took no shit, nor prisoners! I now basically watch for Roman, now, and skip the majority of shows. Currently, the best match in my mind was Roman vs Drew McIntyre. I was glued to the TV for that one. It is good with Reigns, Usos for now, though I hope it won't get old, unimaginative. Real tired of Lesnar, worst Rumble. I actually prefer the year Reigns won, in comparison. I knew he had the Right Stuff, just lacking in the booking by Vince and Corp. Seth had a good run, but not the same. Maybe something with him and Reigns, or against him? I hope they repeat Roman vs Drew Man on man again. good, fast turnovers, momentum. Yes, the SHIELD vs Wyatts were good times. Better match than New Day etc.

I think the Shield was the greatest Trio to happen in WWE history. When Dean/Jon left I couldn't get into it anymore. Before that shit started to get stale and fast paced or dragged out. They had so many missed opportunities for then that they could've stayed a team for the longest. Yet they dominated WWE individually and together in a way that was glorious despite the bullshit. Jon Moxley did his thing back then and I'd doin it now so things worked out.

The biggest mistake with that group was cutting it short too soon. Look at Roman and how long it took to get him over after that. Seth was going places with or without the shield. Idk who doesn’t like dean/Jon but they ruined him in wwe for no good reason I can see.

To say they had nothing to go against sounds more like an excuse creative would give (which Mod maybe bought), because WWE builds Tag Teams out of thin air, so why not put guys together together to face the Shield to not have to break up that group?
