The Night The Shield Died..
Ойындар
The Shield is no doubt one of the greatest and most loved acts in the history of the WWE. From 2012 until 2014 in their original run, The Shield was dominating the WWE. Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, (Jon Moxley) and Seth Rollins were the future. By 2014, once the group had finally turned face, they had basically every single WWE fan behind them. There was finally a group in the WWE that the fans did not want to see end, and it seemed as if the dominance of The Shield was just beginning.. however that was not the case, instead the end was near. Lets go back and take a look at what made The Shield so special, and lets also go back to the night.. the night that was supposed to be just another WWE RAW.. but ended up being The Night The Shield Died..

The Shield was hands down one of the most badass groups ever made. All of their matches and programs were great and made everyone pay attention to them. It was so awesome, but while we knew they would split eventually, the way it was executed, I bet no one saw coming and that’s why it was memorable. People still talk about it today, and it goes to show how sad it was. But overall, we should all be grateful this stable was a thing as it gave us 3 of the biggest GOATs of the modern era. Traumas are never forgotten and Roman Reigns never got over the betrayal of his brother Seth Rollins in The Shield, and this was the main reason why his historic reign ended last week. Roman Reigns could have easily hit Cody Rhodes with the chair and won the match. Instead, he preferred to pursue a 10-year grudge he had against Seth Rollins, did not want to miss that opportunity and exacted his revenge against Rollins. That's why Seth came out with The Shield's music and clothing, when he could have easily gone out with any other clothing and his current music. Seth knew that this way he would get into Roman's mind. This is the narration of a long-term Storyline and a perfect ending to the closing of Roman Reigns' reign. SETH ROLLINS WAS THE ARCHITECT OF ROMAN'S DEFEAT AND THE END OF HIS HISTORIC REIGN. Curiously, the old era of WWE begins with Rollins' betrayal of The Shield, and ends and begins a new era as a result of the trauma related to that. In short, narrative quality at its finest. It's CINEMA 🚬

The Shield is so iconic From the theme, to the outfit, to the personalities. Everything was perfect. And their rivalry with Daniel Bryan and Evolution were absolutely incredible And the moment to break the Shield up couldn't have been better. Because after Payback 2014 they were at their absolute best, at their peak. And to split them up in such a moment. This was just the right moment to get fans really invested in it. And it worked
S.H.I.E.L.D got me back to watching WWE back in the beginning of 2014 from not watching it since like 2010. I wasn’t expecting them to breakup at their very peak after defeating Evolution. It still feels like yesterday that this happened and it’s been eight years already that’s crazy.
The guy who said “noooooooooooo” made my heart pop out of it’s place
I remember being in my Grandma's room watching that episode of Monday Night RAW when Seth Rollins betrayed The Shield. I was so shocked because they beat Evolution twice so I was like, "why would Seth do this". Definitely a good unexpected heel turn. After Seth turned heel and him and Dean were feuding, I remember a meme from 2015 of how Seth became a corporate sellout, Dean became a lunatic, and Roman *STILL* had The Shield gimmick.
This era was my childhood, I remember being so shocked at this moment.
2014 was such a good and intense year that I miss even it's saddest moments. From Team Cena's victory to The Shield breaking up, from Bryan's title win to the end of The Streak, it made you feel something strong.
I was one of them 10 year old kids. After punk left and Bryan was out of commission the shield was definitely my favourite thing in wwe. Seeing them feud with evolution was the coolest thing ever back in 2014 and that match with the Wyatt family is an absolute 5-star banger and you can’t change my mind. The night Rollins turned I was just in shock. Few wrestling moments have made my eyes pop out of my skull like that one did, the only other one I can think of at the top of my head was edge’s 2020 royal rumble return. I was also one of those guys that started watching in 08-09 so yeah, the shield was definitely really awesome to me.

Lol same bro but I was like 7-8 around that time and started watching casually 2009-2010 but was actively following it in 2012 I been watching wrestling as long as I could remeber since I was a baby but yh
I was there when the shield broke up. I’m the little spaz in the blue sweatshirt on the left side of the stands (when the camera switches to the wide angle on the side of the ring) holding a Evolution sign. I had just turned 15, and was losing my mind because I was one of the only people who didn’t really care for the shield at the time. I just happened to be lucky enough to be at the live show that they decided to split up the shield. What a time…
I was heart-broken in this moment and then in 2022 where Rollins comes out at the Royal Rumble and you see Romans head perk up and you see Rollins in his uniform and the themes playing. Pure cinema.
Thank you for bringing back my childhood. I miss these guys. And i cried when seth lost the other night at mania 40, he was my favorite out of all of them and he really made me love wrestling. Great video❤

To be honest, not even the fact that the supposed match of Orton vs. Roman hadn't started 5 minutes before the end of the show triggered any alarms that something was going to happen, because RAW used to have overruns at that time. This was perhaps the greatest heel turn of the decade, heck, maybe of the whole 21st century. Still, I was legit heartbroken on that night and I was on my 20s by then.

The shield was one of the most unique triple tag team of all time they were unpredictable, badass and just cool everytime a match is going on you knew the moment the lights turn off you'll get jumped by them without knowing and seeing Dean ambrose along with Seth and Roman do their finisher together was amazing but the moment Seth betrayed the group made each one unique on their own Roman became the big dog, Seth became part of the authority and dean moved on to a badass tommy dreamer sort of XD but in the end they were a fantastic trio
"Imagine being 8 or 10", I was 9 and I cried for days. I fucking loved The Shield lmao
I was 7 when this happened, I remember it so well. It broke my heart. I was a happy 7 year old hanging out with my dad to watch the post payback raw and I was in love with wrestling, it was the greatest thing to come into my life. I was the biggest shield fan ever. I was excited to see the shield lay waste to the WWE like they had for almost 2 year and it was a great Monday evening. I was chillin with my pops hanging out and eating pizza and life was good. On one tv I had WWE 2k14 loaded up and the other had raw playing. My dad yelled “come on, Roman is about to wrestle” and I jumped up and ran. I ran to that tv lightning fast and watched my childhood unfold right before my very eyes. I haven’t experienced grief like this since. Truly, screw up Seth.
Legendary ending to an episode of Raw, I was also in the crowd that night and nobody saw it coming. Everyone was mind blown because no one expected the shield to end anytime soon, it was truly mind blowing and kept me wondering the entire week about what’s next. From seeing the debut to seeing them disband was peak wwe to me at that time
I saw it live in the venue when it happened. The only thing I remembered about that night was how shocked the crowd was after it ended. Me and my dad sat around for a good hour after it went off air just talking to other people in the audience about their reactions. The funniest thing is I wasn't a big fan of the shield back then, but in retrospect they're probably my favorite stable of all time. Still feels cool that I witnessed such a big moment, even if I don't remember it that well.
I remember seeing it Live while doing my highschool homework, I was so shocked by the turn and the follow up run with Seth from 2015-2016 was one the best runs u could of seen for a heel turn
At that time I hated that they broke up that quick(ah good times man) but now looking back at that I can say that was a perfect call the destruction of Shield helped all these 3 guys and now they are ruling pro wrestling and I would love to see the Shield reunion once again down the road.
I was 6 at the time and had just gotten into the company...had me in absolute shambles...never had I'd been so upset at wrestling up to that point...they were my boys at the time, the guys who could do no wrong, the guys that I had tune into to Raw and SmackDown to see and then that happened...from that happening to Cena Vs Brock later that year 2014 was the absolute worst year I had ever watch play out especially with the promise of great things to come at the beginning of the year.

I screamed when I saw this on my recommended. Happy you’re covering this. SHIELD 4evaaaaaaaa ❤
The Shield’s breakup was an absolutely awesome and unexpected moment in WWE. Seth destroying the Shield after they had just defeated Evolution in a sweep the night before, what a moment. It makes me wonder, what could have been next for the Shield as a unit if they didn’t break up?
You know the group is that good that they had to be broken up quicker than everyone wanted just because they had 3 main eventers aligned 😂 it was perfect.
Considering I was a little 8 year old kid I wasn’t allowed to stay up and watch raw until the end on mondays cause I had school the next morning, but I stayed up long enough to hear about the main event. I remember in 4th/5th grade thinking the shield was so sick. I always rooted for them, Ambrose was my favorite back then.
I think the part that makes it such an iconic moment was the shot chosen to showcase the betrayal. There weren’t 10 camera cuts in 3 seconds. They just let that shot run, from the moment the three stood strong, to the second Dean and Roman stepped forward, finally ending with the chair shot and catching Roman falling on the bottom rope. And of course, Dean’s face.

The more I look back Seth Rollins doing the betrayal makes the most sense for shock value. He was the one who was the most athletic, probably most over plus he's the architect of the Sheild. Dean or Roman would've been too predictable considering they teased storyline beef between the 2. Plus Rollins has improved ever since with today arguably doing the best work of his career

That was the happiest day ever , I was going through a villain phase and I liked evolution but what made me most happy is that it was something I didn't see it coming , that's very rare these days even back then
I was absolutely stunned when Seth hit Roman and Ambrose with a chair. This was truly the end of the hounds of justice but this made Seth Rollins became The Visionary at that time.
Had a bad day at school pav posting this made it better
