But where was our democracy in 1957 when the federal government decided forced integration without a vote? Where was democracy in 1965 that passed the Hart/Celler immigration act without a vote? Again in 65, with the “civil rights” act. Not one vote on it. And then when Americans did decide by voting against gay marriage, it was overruled by the Supreme Court. So you know what you can do with democracy? Shove it!

They’re too concerned about where their next meal is coming from, how to make ends meet, how to find or keep a job, or how to protect their children from gun violence to pay attention to elections and politics. Yes, giving up their right to vote is a guarantee of keeping things just as bad or worse, but they don’t realize that.

Well, Biden is funding a genocide while cracking down on protesting and boycotting. So it's only natural to be cynical about his policy. He has also cracked down the legal right to asylum, and has deported ~50% of all migrants encountered (in part thanks to Title 42 Expulsions), surpassing Trump era records. Black people has been frustrated with the lack of systemic reform. E.T.C. Besides, I live in CA. Biden will win my state's electors either way.

As baffling as it is to me personally how anyone could possibly be "checked out", it's important to have empathy and understand most people are checked out for totally valid reasons. You listed off many of the big ones. Also...dealing with a health crisis, avoiding politics for mental health reasons, and deserved apathy. Unfortunately, the GOP _wants_ people checked out. Democracy is the last thing they want. An active informed engaged populace would render them obsolete. Keeping us checked out is vital to their end goals. So we simply gotta counter that like our future depends on it. Cuz it literally does. :/

It's going to be a very interesting debate. DT communicates as an unruly toddler. A sense of adult decorum, debate rules, actual standards....he is going to be in neurological _agony._ Frankly, I can't wait.

I like the advice for Biden in the debate. Would add that he could highlight the amazing people in Biden’s team vs Trump, who has surrounded himself with family members, crooks, cooks, or people who have after turned around to say he is unfit.

Most people watch KZread on their phone, and if they have headphones many will be poor-quality bass-boosted products like Raycons that likely make high frequencies much more muted. Not judging, that's just how it is. But yes, it's very distracting.
