George Jones said it well about Johnny and other greats with his Hit- Who's Gonna Filled Their Shoes?- Not many of today's country singers are capable of filling such shoes.

It's 6:40pm on a Tuesday and I spent the last forty minutes trying to talk myself out of bed and a crushing depression. This song just happened to be on some playlist youtube created and "thought" I might like. I am a big Cash fan but I never heard this song before. But it captures and encapsulates my mood and frame of mind precisely. Johnny Cash suffered from depression and addiction just as I do and this song really expresses exactly the way I feel right now. Even in the depths of psychological angst it is nice to know someone else knows how you feel.

it is a very mysterious condition to be honest. it runs in my family, but im the only one that got it, and im the only musical one. that wasn't going the 'get a union job and get on with it'. If your creative and no one nurtures that i think your whole psyche goes into rebellion. i take pretty mild medication. (they tried this zombie you out sh(T but i said No Way,,, so they were forced to put me on milder things> But i have to take it Every day EVERY morning. It can take hours for me to feel awake though, no way can i miss it. alot of accomplished people have depression, esp writers who drink, (Bad idea),, very bad... they say musicians are into drugs,,, writers are drinkers,,, and one other (cant remember it),,,, i stoped drinking because iw as so POOR i couldnt afford it..... One thing though is it DOES get better as you get older 60's. the prep work is like 30 or 40 to 60,,, to accept yourself,,, like yourself and find a way to live where you have safe space/ im kind of a hermit ( have kids but they're grown),,, I stay home,,,, my town is safe but boring,, the world is a disturbance. noise and other things trigger the depression/ptds thingies... i don't live near people, i can see houses out the window but there is alot of space,, (kind of a hicky town, i just feel safer and im 63 so i dont need or want to deal all these tourists. boring place,, tourists invadeit except the weather Bashin them,,

This version has a rawness that hits different. Love the piano - not in the original - with its sharp, distinct notes. Johnny Cash's subtle change to a few lyrics breathes new life into a song I know by heart. And also, the sound quality and other performers alongside Johnny Cash are amazing as well. Every instrument is perfectly balanced, crisp and detailed. Oh and, speaking a few words at the start and end is also kind a nice touch.
