Johnny Cash always had this particular way of commanding everyone around him, but looking for praise from everyone who listened to him. It's a diatonic concept. And I studied him for a while a few years ago he always the approval of his father, and he always wanted approval for his audience. But it seemed like no matter how excellent his performance was he was never satisfied with his own performance. He will always be a true American to me. Someone who fights against the odds, still succeeds, and is still humble.
