Will McCormick I highly recommend looking for the “ game change” book or hbo movie version of that book. The decent people on the campaign quickly realized what a terrible mistake they had made in picking her. By the time she was openly engaging the racist part of the base, they were done trying. Mccain, Nicole Wallace and Steve Schmidt are very decent people.

@mww2821 By that point, he probably figured "What the hell, why not?" As I recall as it got closer to election day in 2008, it looked increasingly likely that Obama was going to win regardless of what McCain did. Might as well have fun right? Kind of reminds me of SNL's Dukakis After Dark sketch in 1988, except the real Dukakis didn't do that bit. I was impressed that both McCain and his wife agreed to appear in this and they seemed to have fun doing it.

You know what Trump could do that McCain could never do? Win the Presidency. Why? Because he actually fought for America and stood up to the disgusting liberal media. McCain never accomplished a damn thing in his political career, was always a war monger and stabbed his own party in the back over and over and over again. And for the record, McCain lost the 2008 election on purpose, running the most pitiful, pathetic campaign in US history and picking some dumb shit like Palin to be his VP running mate. It's hilarious beyond belief to see so many of you liberals and media types talking up McCain to be a saint after he died but where was all this love and admiration when he was running for President? Oh no, then it was "McCain is the most right wing extremist of all time and a terrible man". Well he was NEVER a right winger but he certainly was a terrible man.

I loved McCain's sense of humor. He wasn't afraid to poke fun at himself. Another thing about him. He refused to let people describe his opponents as "less then honorable". He put the country before party! We need more like him! Unfortunately he is no longer with us.

Huge respect for McCain who could have let Fey destroy Palin as usual and make himlook good. Instead, obviously, he told them not to portray her as ignorant as she really is. So, in general, it failed to be funny as usual but the "going rogue" part was great.
