Australians connect with songs sung by John Farnham on so many different levels. He just allows the listener to connect with the song he is singing. This is not even the best version of this song he does. The best thing is, it is live and real. What you hear is what you get. Its 110% heart and soul... I am from Australia's west coast. I am so happy you have found our John Farnham.

Do you know what I love so much about this video ? (Apart from a Texan reacting to an Aussie 😂 ✌️) is that as a 45 year old i can name everyone on that stage - and I have only been fortunate enough to see John once live . It’s because John always acknowledges and includes the whole band . It’s always a team effort , so much talent on one stage . The days where there were so many instruments ! Good times 👊👊👊👊

When TRUE freedom is on this earth, when enlightened people are in positions of leadership, then tyranny - politically, religiously and economically - will end. When people have the truth and freely judge and decide for themselves, for the good of the whole, then a better world will result. 'That's Freedom!' A lovely message through John, again.

This was a great concert. I think the last one where he sported the long hair and the more rock image. He was about 45 at the time. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I'm pretty sure the next full concert was 4 years later the Main Event and the more mature John and his band started to appear in suits and ties. But still that same amazing voice, personality and spectacular productions. That's Freedom was written by American Tommy Kimmel so the meaning can be taken as patriotically as an American would imagine but also a little differently by Australians who have a very understated patriotism.

Unlike in the USA, “freedom” in Australia isn’t associated with patriotism and rights. We Aussies don’t need reminding how free we are. Rather, I see this song as about freedom that comes with love and spirit, unattached to any earthly notion of patriotism for a country.

Love to see your reaction to John with "In Days to Come". Just that you mentioned the young ones and their lack of interest in the world. John (and my era) grew up with parents who went through during WW2, so "Freedom" was huge for us, some many had died for it. John co-wrote a song and that talks about the things that were happening when we were growing up. Again, his humanitarian side (and a little bit of his humour)... anyway hope you enjoy. kzread.info/dash/bejne/dp6Hy7l6p9m9d7g.html

One of my favourite Farnsey message songs . The usual guitarist on this song was Jack Jones lead and singer for the Aussie band SOUTHERN SONS he is a fantastic singer and had some great songs check him out , also if your craving 70s and 80s music with plenty of guitar solos check out your home grown band LILIAC a family of siblings age 14 to 23 with a passion for the heavy rock of that period they do amazing tribute covers some of which are better than the originals and their own 2 dozen or so originals have that same vibe . I HAVE suggested before for you to react to Farnsey singing COOL CHANGE it really is a most wonderful song and John sings it beautifully , so please consider reacting to it .

My understanding, based on the research I did for this song, is that this is a patriotic song written by an American. If that is incorrect, my bad. I usually spend about 30 minutes going over lyrics, reading fans' opinions, looking at wiki etc. In the U.S.A., and more specifically in the state of Texas, you will find many that agree patriotism and freedom go hand in hand. The reason for this is our own unique history. We have fought for freedom on our own soil because we are patriots. That obviously does not apply to all countries with their own laws and social agreements and cultures, history etc. This does not mean we support our government lying to us or our military, planting traitors in our highest military positions, and being forced to fight in wars that are about kiling innocent people and stealing resources from them. It is about fighting to make America what it is actually supposed to be, not what our corrupt government has turned it into. Our people are under constant attack by greedy criminals in our own government in both major parties. They support the military industrial complex, increased unjustified taxes, and reduction of rights, including globalism. They often send our soldiers to die and set them up for failure without a second thought. They steal from us and other countries. We don't need a song to remind us that we are free or that we are patriots, we just enjoy it when people are not afraid to say the truth in a song, and we like to jam out to it. As I said, we are under constant attack by our own corrupt, lying, thieving, incompetant government. The idea that we are all idiots that just scream U.S.A. randomly without thought is absurd. It is about the people who support freedom and will fight for freedom on our own soil and against legitimate threats across the globe. It is not about supporting our corrupt government and their crimes against humanity. You are not free if you do not live in a free country. On a philosophical level, you could argue that your heart and mind and soul are free, but without a reasonable constitution/set of laws, and brave men, there is no actual freedom. It is not lost on me how the world percieves us. Our media is corrupt and does nothing but bash honorable people in most cases. If this song, to John Farham, is about emotional and spiritual feedom that is totally fine. He did an amazing job and he is quickly becoming one of my favorite artists In closing, I'm a veteran, an American, and above all of that, and most importantly, I am a Texan. Don't be surprised if I show love for my home, knowing what it should be, and never giving up on that dream. Be blessed

My comment was more of an interpretation from an Aussie perspective but yes the song may have originally been written with different intention. Please don’t think that by saying we didn’t need songs to remind us how free we are, that I was suggesting that you guys did. Aussies are just very low key on anything like that. I for one constantly defend the US from a lot of the nasty stereotypes that go round on social media because I know they are just that- nasty stereotypes and they don’t represent the majority of Americans who are good decent people ❤️

I agree with a previous comment. That freedom is not about patriotism at all, and if that is how Americans associated freedom then that is not freedom. Freedom is a mindset and not about a place. You are so different from us. That’s not a good or bad thing, it’s just different is all.
