Yes, Bon played the bagpipes which is why they had them on the original ... Aside from the fact that John and his team crush this, I always love the orchestra interaction and the pure joy on Dobbs Frank's (the conductor) face. They turn it into such a party and everyone has a blast. His cover of Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog" is phenomenal!

That’s true. Only managed to see 5 but he was this good every time. An insight into his character is that he could perform in a show like this to tens of thousands of people, then come to the regional area I lived, where the biggest auditorium held 2000 people max, and give us EVERYTHING he had. Master performer, and a true decent guy. Luckily Jimmy Barnes lived in the area (I think he still does), so I got to see their duet live, standing 3 metres from the stage

Oh, I loved that night. John sings ballads, gospel, musical theatre, opera, soul, Christmas carols and all note perfect. Yes Classic Jack is the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. And Rock like youve never heard it before lol. So far you've only seen John in Rock mode ...he pretty much sings just about any genre and put his own spin on it. Some of the best ballads come out of this guy over the years even Country, Blues, Jazz, Pop, Musical Theatre. There's so much in his bag of tricks.... So maybe now it's time to check out some more mellow Farnsey. Since you're now officially in the lead up to Christmas I would love to see you react ro either Mary's Boy Child or You'll Never Walk Alone from Carols by candle light. They are both great...so your choice. He also does a great version if Silent Night at an early Carols by Candle Light which is also great. And heaps of other Christmas stuff over the years ....but this one is the best ... m.kzread.info/dash/bejne/gmaom7mJabS7k8o.html Ps and talking of Michael Jackson. The Orchestra love John too. By the end of a show John would have introduced them all. Michael Jackson couldn’t take John out of number one here. He stayed at number one for 6 months. It is more like Michael who? I didn’t like AC DC, I just remember John singing this and I have never seen a genre of music he can’t sing. John doesn’t have a category, I have watched him sing ballads, Country surprised me but he was really good and Opera was the biggest surprise. John played Jesus in Jesus Christ Super Star. Gethsemane is amazing and he doesn’t fit in one box. He always reminds me of Elvis because only Elvis could get away with singing a Gospel song at a Rock and Roll concert. Gospel was his first love, he recorded more than 200 Gospel songs that most don’t know about. John is the same here. Thank you.

I may be writing but I think Zan and Shereen Andersen were the backing singers for that track. They’re rock royalty and very lovely people mate. Just watch out for them on so many great music videos. Voices for hire. Love them. Keep doing this good work.

They do get bagpipes in the "with the melbourne symphony orchestra" performance. This is not quite the same one... the Keytar player is David Herschfelder, who went on to write movie music. John was jealous of his old fashioned composer outfit too.

Thanks love this whole conert is amazing. Great seeing John's band x Orchestra all having so much fun. John's smile and personality is infectious. John can sing any genre of music and love him doing Gethesmane from Jesus Christ Superstar which John was in showcasing his musical theatre back ground. David Hirschfelder was playing keyboard's. Great reaction.

Tex you might also like Farnsie when he fronted Little River Band. It's very 1980's Americana soft rock/country rock like most of LRB's songs. LRB were very big in the US at that time then the lead singer left, and Farnsie took over. Perhaps this type of music was already on the way out by this time because LRB with Farnsie never rose to the level of success they once had. US Record producers couldn't handle John and he basically told them where to get off. That is why he never recorded in the USA. You guys missed so much!

The ACDC original is just a sketch. John expands it and makes it his own. It's trimuphant because John was often dismissed as middle-of-the-road - quite the opposite to ACDC. But this is totally in his range.

John Farnham’s background wasn’t rock, it was pop. He was crowned King of Pop a number of times and he found it pretty hard to shake his squeaky clean, milky- bar kid pop image for quite a few years. Haha, smiling way too much showing you this video. (Can’t find a live one for this, sorry but trust me, it’s worth it, lol) 🙃🤣 kzread.info/dash/bejne/pGSXl5eliLWnlco.html

I'm old enough to remember him singing Sadie. Don't think it was Countdown but it was some music show in early 70's. He certainly did it hard Laraine to get to this. I think I read hadn't Whispering Jack I think it was hadn't worked out he would have been bankrupt. Such a long time ago and my memory isn't so good these days. But boy I still love my music. My neighbours love Foo Fighters. They have no choice lol
