I think you started a whole trend in here of people reacting to John Farnham. Your reactions are always the best though because you break it down technically as well as just being a fan. As for this track, I'm so attached to the MSO performance that I felt nervous going in but it was a wonderful rendition and I appreciate your enthusiasm as always. Cheers.

here's to hoping John recovers extremely well and lets us know he's ok. I know he's cancer free and the surgery went well. Just haven't heard or seen him since. His son says he's doing well and is in good spirits though :)

John voice isn't quite what it was, but it's still amazing. It's incredible how good his voice still is for his age, many singers lose their voices completely decades before John, and his voice is very much still there. Even when it's slightly weaker he's still miles ahead of anybody around today. John is the greatest singer I've ever heard.

Playing To Win the original version is underrated Little River Band song released in 1984 . Firstly originally written by John Farnham about his own frustrations with being in the Little River Band with all negativity and infighting . Sadly Playing To Win wasn’t a hit at that time it was released , longtime LRB fans was in shock that change in musical direction different from The Eagles 70’s style harmony rock fans knew . Even 2 other original LRB members left the band because John was taking the band in a different direction to a more new wave senth rock . But Playing To Win gain attention from sporting enthusiasts and Australian TV networks using song to promote sporting events . Apparently Playing To Win caused more infighting within LRB because John wrote mostly the whole song but all the other members of LRB just had to put their name on the credits as well even the producer they all thought John just may have written a massive worldwide hit to this day John owns 55% of royalties divided up between 7 others . But it’s only LRB song John Farnham has kept performing solo it’s a staple in all his concerts. Playing To Win is probably one of John’s songs that has a life of it’s own outside of LRB’s back catalogue , it’s John’s signature LRB song .

The song was done by Little River Band which John was the lead vocalist on that album. They used the song on a lot of sporting promos when it was released as well. The normal version is great, we use to listen to it on our playlist before playing our game.

I could watch Farnham singing all day. Sad update though. He has just had major surgery to remove growth from his mouth. He has had to have part of his jaw removed. It is absolutely devastating that The Voice as Australia knows him, will never sing again. It's heartbreaking. 😥

Great performance but a shame that his voice wasn't at its best when these sessions were recorded.. really missing the high notes personally, and don't tell me he didn't try, the few he attempted were really obviously strained.
