Agree Absolutely. I doubt even John would have 'noticed' the level of nuance and subtlety in the full range of his delivery -when he's just 'in the moment' just doing whatever he feels like - that feels and sounds right. If he had to replicate every nuance / every note 15 minutes later he probably couldn't. He'd most likley do a few other things - just for fun! It's be really fascinating to hear what John himself thinks of this / these reactions. He'd probably say; 'Hey THANKS! I didn't know I was quite that good!" Of course all the REST of us knew we was/ is! That's why we followed him everywhere and filled Stadiums etc. Duh!

John Farnham was in Little River Band from 1982-1987, He took over from the original lead singer Glenn Shorrock who left after some fighting with the band, Shorrock later rejoined after John Farnham left. Farnham wanted to try his luck in the states and thought the band was the way to go, but got homesick in the end and returned to Australia.........

Of course you're Special! No-one else reacts like you. People / Artists genuinely appreciate genuine appreciation and respect, and you deliver THAT in cart loads! We enjoy your enjoyment - it's very infectious! 😃👌👋 We even like the 'wavy thing' (which - to be frank - is a bit 'weird ass' for us Aussies ) but guessing it means you think the performance is so 'hot' you gotta fan down the flames? or something like that... Anyway - It's kinda cute. Your comment about John's technicality / precision in his ' vocal athletics' is spot on too and keeps pulling My focus to the fact that (well as far as I know) he's never had formal vocal training.

You should also check out John Farnham with the little River band singing The Other Guy. Its another gorgeous song! Now, others have probably mentioned already but LRB wasn't Johns band. They had another lead singer but something happened and he walked out and jokingly said "I oh yeah. Who Willcox get to replace me? John Farnham? Now. That was a bit of an insult back then cos ppl thought he just wasn't that good, was passed his use-by date...he had been a teen performer with his first song Sadie The Cleaning Lady and felt like he had been stuck in stagnant water recently but the guy who managed lrb knew John and when the offer was made, he jumped at it and started with the group in 1981 (which I think is when this footage is from) things couldn't get much worse for him, so he took it. Things didn't work out though and he felt like he was being stifled creatively...they weren't fond of recording songs that John wrote, didn't want to use that style of singing, so he was a bit annoyed, then they also didn't want him wandering around the stage as he always had, interacting with the audience "cos they were all equals in the group, there's no single star" so they started taping down his mic cord to prevent him from walking anywhere. Anyway, in 1984 they parted ways, John wanted to record his own music so the manager who helped him get into LRB helped him with a solo album, but his name was mud...no1 wanted anything to do with him. If his music got sent to a radio station, n91 would play it...the record company didn't even have the faith in him to fund a new album, so his manager/best friend, put his house up for mortgage and used that money to pay for Johns solo album. It was a 3rd and final attempt at a music career. So they recorded th e album, but know no station would play it if it had his name on it, they printed it on black vinyl with no label, put it in a sleeve with no artist name, just the title track . It worked, the stations played it, the listeners kept requesting it until 1 day they had to fond out who the singer was. No1 believed it when told it was John Farnham. That album very quickly beco.e the biggest and fastest selling album in Australian recording HISTORY which is where it STILL sits, over 35 years later! He very quickly changed everyone's minds about him, to start loving his music and after he released the track "youre the voice" that soon became his nickname, The Voice! He thoroughly deserves all the accolades that he got over the years, there is nobody more deserving than John!

John Farnham joined LRB in 1982 and played on their 1986 album No Reins which was his last album before he went solo, the footage would have been around 1983 because its off the Net album released in that year. The other singer was Glenn Shorrock ex The Twilights and Axiom who were both great bands of the late 60's and early 70's. Sadie was released back in 1967, he was Moomba King of Pop in1972 which wasa big deal back then so was still hitting the charts regularly. Him and Debbie Byrne had their own TV show in the late70's and early 80's. He may have had a lean few years chart wise but the oldies still loved him, my Nan and Mum idolised him back in the 1970's, he would have done all the Bowls club s and60 and over clubs back then.He just didnt get much commercial love from his great album Uncovered around 1980. As a 15 year old in 1980 I wouldn't have gone near that album back then but bought it years later when he was in LRB, his image was a bit old school I reckon until he was reinvented and made it big in the early 80's.

Interesting but as someone who lived through these days all I can say is yes this is the stuff of legends. If you read more than you can be closer to what was and happened. It's great that you enjoy his career keep on believing it because at the end of the day, he has a phenomenal voice and his path was up and down but we all have him to listen to importantly be happy about.

He lead singer of Little River Band left and for a while John Farnham took the role as lead singer. The year is somewhere at the end of the seventies. Thanks so much for your shares their beautiful

Yep, he sure can sing :) Give Elvis Presley a shot, his liveperformances from Las Vegas 1970 are unreal. -"You`ve lost that loving feeling" and his version of "Bridge over troubled water" is soulwrenching stuff. Good to see ya, keep up the good work :)))

It wasn't his band, he join after they were quite established. The original lead singer thought the group should take a break but they disagreed and John joined and Glenn to original lead singer was not happy the band did that to him lol. He was with the band from '82 - '85

A lot of your reactions have been of him singing live. Just think about that for a second. Because you loose your shit when he sings, and I love it. How any male singers can you do that today?

Did you know John Farnham was in the australian cast of themusical stage show, Jesus Chrst Superstar? With a beautiful australian singer by the name of Kate Ceberano, and Jon Stevens, and the cast, they did a spot on "Hey, Hey, it's Saturday." Then they all did amazing grace together after the host asked them. I think this was 1992.

It would be worth your while to listen to Little River Band with their original vocalist, Glenn Shorrock. They had great hits including Long Way There, I'll be Home on Monday, Lady and Reminiscing (described by Frank Sinatra as the best song of the 70s).

There were two incarnations of the Little River Band that matter, the original singer Glenn Shorrock was fired and replaced with Farnham in the early 80s, that's why you'll see it specified who is singing with the band. I don't know why, but some people actually prefer the band when they had Glenn Shorrock singing. Wayne Nelson on bass here followed John into his solo career, playing in his backing band.

Your reaction to John singing with Kate Sabrano and John Stevens would be interesting. They performed together in a stage production called Jesus Christ Superstar… they are all well known singers in Australia 🇦🇺 👍
