Lots of us Farnsie fans would agree that this is the best live version of this song. Apart from John's stella vocals, just the whole spectacle of the orchestra, lighting, the energy from his regular band members and John's charisma. It's hard to beat. Although ADCD's energy is hard to beat ....I think this was just spectacular
It’s a long way to the top for any other singer to hit the notes that Farnsey can
ACDC doesn't really do this song in respect for Bon Scott. I really love Bons version, but this is awesome. Everyone was having such a great time. This was the first encore. I think Help came after this. Amazing to be able to belt these out after a 2 hour concert. I have always loved John but have come to a much better understanding of his talents & skill since watching so many reactors react to his songs.
John said this is his favourite song. He does it justice.
Even in his 70s John could still sell out concerts all over Australia today.
Every song from this concert is classic Farnsy. Go the Roos.
Noticed that his voice doesn’t change even when he’s bent over shaking hands with audience members? Never seen anyone else who can do that
Great singer, nice one Farnsy!
John is Australia's greatest singer and performer. We love him. Who do you know who sings like him? We are blessed.

@Cinema Ipswich Well Technically, John is Britain's greatest singer because he was born in Dagenham Essex before he moved to Australia.
This concert, for all of us lucky enough to be there, is unforgettable. I was on an endorphin high for a week.
Only John can make the MSO rock and roll 😀
Final song of the night prior to the encores!!! EveryOne on their feet !!!! The place was moving literally

That was the last one. 2nd encore, Sadie followed by this
Outstanding !!
Every single person on that stage is amazing and of course John blows me away without fail 💕💕
It was the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra - same concert as his famous 'Help' rendition.
He is probably the best singer I have ever heard. What was I during this time???

@JOBY DOG WHISPERER Same here, we had no idea and we missed it all. It's great that we can catch up at least. Cheers
From memory, the stadium is the same one used for the Aus Open tennis.
Aussie pub version of the chorus "Its a long way to the shop if you wanna sausage rooooll" 😁

Don’t remember John ever having a real mullet just long hair. Don’t remember him ever having the sides shaved shorter. Could be wrong it’s been 40 years LOL
Well said BP1. I have the CD & DVD of that concert. Seeing the fun that everyone is having is joyous and the smiles are infectious. One of my favorite Farnham tracks. There are also a number of good/different versions with John & Tom Jones. Go the mighty Sydney Swans!!!
Everyone gave their absolute all on this one - John (of course), the musicians, backup singers, orchestra and conductor. What a megawatt performance! His cover of Led Zep's "Black Dog" is also stellar: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eGaNy5iNhsyTo7g.html Cheers!
Great reaction boys , since you’re falling down the Farnsey rabbit hole chk out “ Black dog “ a led zep cover , he used to do this song as a warm up before his concerts , luckily a sound engineer pressed record unbeknown to John , this is an audio clip only, unfortunately no video , but it deffo has the Farnsey wow factor 😮 Go Hawks

@@BritPopsReact Sorry boys I must've missed it , I'll chk it out
Both Farnsy & AC/DC are brilliant in their own way
Watch him and Tom Jones sing it together, fantastic
I was lucky enough to meet and see ACDC quite a lot of times in the mid seventies when they started playing around the Melbourne pubs and halls at least every second or third week Melbourne in the seventies was the rock capital of Australia and I meet a lot of the international bands that played at Festival Hall in Melbourne from Queen to the Doobie Brothers, Sweet, Dr Hook, and many more it was a great time being in Melbourne John was with L.R.B by the late seventies Countdown started in 75 Local bands like ACDC, Skyhooks, Hush, L.R.B, Sherbet, Billy Thorpe Split Ends just to name a few Now they were the day's of Rock & Roll
What a way to end a concert! Contrary to popular belief this was actually the last song of this particular recorded concert and not Help.

@@jeffwilson7100 me too! Either people's memories are sketchy because it happened so long ago, or the ones saying they were there went to a different night to the one that was recorded. John was known to mix things up between nights so they aren't necessarily making it up!

@@devilsadvocate2548 the other thing is the '3 hour concert' claim. i watched the whole thing on YT about a month ago. it went for 90 minutes. i don't know if there was a break/intermission that was cut from the dvd, and I love the guy but it didn't go for 3, 2.5 or even 2 hours.
That is the same concert as in Help with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra - he also did his signature song You're the Voice in that concert too, which is on KZread.
No we didn't have cell phones. But we did have tiny tape recorders. I taped almost every concert I went to in the 70's and 80's. Not sure how I lost them over the years. I only have one left. Paul McCartney and Wings. Cow Palace, San Francisco...1976.
You should do a reaction to Kasey Chambers “Lose yourself” another Aussie gem.

Huge ACDC fan but JF for the win.
It's funny - one of the other reactors thought it was better than the original AC/DC too.
As someone who is 65 and grew up in the 60s and 70s I can tell you what happened to our amazing music. Yes it was the Brits and the Americans who squeezed us out while they were in competition with each other. lol. Not to worry because us Aussies had the best of all worlds, we had your music, American music and then our own. Oh yeah and we had brilliant football that none of you knew about either and are now discovering. Cheers guys it's a pleasure to watch you.
I've heard it said before about this version being the best, just saying.
🕺🕺🎼🎼🎼it’s a long way to the shop if you want a sausage roll🎼🎼🎼 ok ok I grew up on this music
When John Farnham takes the stage Elvis leaves with his tail between his legs.
So sad to think that other than Australians people remember this song because of Jack Black disgraceful. Brian Johnson wouldn't perform this song out of respect for Bon saying it was his song. So therefore it was never played again after Bon died. So John took it on. Thank God he did. So we got to hear it live by a worthy performer. 💯❤️🔥 Goodbye 👋 from me too..

I went to his concert in Sydney years ago with a diehard Bob Dylan fan. It will always be on the top of my list for Worst Concert Ever!
Have you come across Black Dog? Recorded from a sound check. No visuals. Epic. July'24. UK. E ❤
Play a track of any Pommy warbler after listening to Farnham and you realise very quickly that their are up against a "Power House singer " who is a polished performer . We are currently being attacked by a very ordinary performer who many of the "Kids" like and he fashions himself with a gimmick for the populists . Jack Black also fashions himself on the "English" sound because the English Singers of the Sixties - Eighties made their mark , Farnham and the Guys from ACDC are English men growing up in Australia .John is now recovering from Cancer at the age of 73 ... Why on earth would you want to see a creampuff like Harry ???
As someone who’s seen John live 5 times over 30 years, he’s ALWAYS this good. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
The original with ACDC on the back of a truck riding down Swanston street in Melbourne's CD and Bon playing the bagpipes??? or not. Will always be the best version for me. Farnham does a great rendition but I have seen ACDC live a couple of times and Farnham's version is pretty lukewarm in comparison.

SWANS Sydney
Farnsey was better for sure. John always takes a cover and does it better than the original.
I watch these guys and am always disappointed. When Farnsey is knocking out a stunning performance they are discussing mullets.. when the Melbourne symphony orchestra is doing call & response to the guitar… they are doing some vapid BS. So very disappointing. Clearly they are covering this for clicks and not for the actual content. Do better!

Then your not very Savvy at all, We enjoy ourselves as well as the music.... considering all we knew was 'The Voice' before exploring John... of course we are going to discuss his hair.... mostly because we are jealous of it, we are not here for clicks, we make very little money. We are here for a music and culture journey so yes we go off-piste sometimes but we are reactors... I am surprised your disappointed, we try to add a bit of human and humour thats all :)
