It seems since you two chatted your way through the song, you didn't analyze it, which is what most reviewers do. I was twenty years old when this song came out and young people speculated at the haunting sorrow and mystery of what could have driven Billy Joe to jump to his death. Many of us thought it must have been a premature child. What else would drive a young man to jump to his death?

Britain used the Imperial system until it converted to metric in 1965 which is around the same time they stopped using Fahrenheit as well. This sketch implies the rest of the world was already using the metric system which is obviously untrue. France was the first in the 1790s followed by Portugal in the 1810s and then Spain around 1850.

Guys, the cast of Soap will blow you away. One of which was a young Billy Crystal. Prob mid to late 20s. Then there's Richard Mulligan and Katherine Helmond. Huge comedic talents.

This match is a prime example of why Mick Foley was always my favorite wrestler. But man is a tough SOB that sacrificed his body for years to entertain people, and wrestling was just never the same for me after he retired. By the way, this probably wasn't even the hardest night Foley ever had in a wrestling ring, lol. He lost half an ear in a match against the man called Vader, and if you want to see a truly brutal wrestling match, watch Mick Foley versus Terry Funk in their Japanese barbed wire match. The ropes are actually made of barbed wire, and Foley's arm was badly burned by a small c4 charge strapped to a board. In his book, Mick said that he and Funk had a bet as to who would have more stitches when the night was over, lolz. There's a reason why these guys are hardcore Legends.

I have known about most of these kids. I know that these kids are phenomenally capable. Usually with youngsters doing rock covers, the wheels come off with the vocals, especially, girls trying to singing men's vocals. This young lady easily knocked it out of the park.

There are a lot of singing artists covering the Carpenters and many of them do a very good job, however Tori Holub is the closest as has been noted by a great many of her followers, including Joe and myself, and she should be able to make a name for herself in the future as she develops a wider repertoire including some original songs.

Thanks guys as always for your informative and genuine reaction to Tori. I discovered her three or four months ago and I think she has the most timeless voice the likes of which I have not heard for 50 years. She sounds so much like Karen, who would be proud. Tori was invited to perform at the Carpenters 55th anniversary tribute in the LA area the end of April. On the fourth day, unbeknownst to everyone, Richard Carpenter showed up and Tori had the honor of speaking with him backstage. Certainly a lifetime memory! Please as always encourage your viewers to support this wonderfully humble artist by subscribing to her channel. Thanks for all you do.

Hi BP1 & 2! Enjoyed your reaction and thanks for the shout out. A bit of a surprise I’m sure. Tori has an assortment of short videos where she’s covered many artists of the 60-80’s primarily. A few originals that were given to her to sing. More is coming including her own song and Jim and Tori’s next Carpenters cover is Close To You. She just collaborated with Dan Wesley (a fellow Brit, I must add) and released a cover of the Perry Como classic, It’s Impossible. This past April Tori was one of 8 invited acts to perform at the a Carpenters 55th Anniversary Celebration. She was also the youngest at 20. It was quite an event lasting 4 days. I met Tori there and she and the others made for one exciting evening. On the last night she did get to finally meet in person the surprise guest of the entire event, Richard Carpenter. He wasn’t on the schedule but came on the last night and was interviewed by Chris May, his coauthor. That’s some background info for you and glad you enjoyed! Joe Edit: I neglected to mention. No one “expects” Tori or The Spanish Inquisition! Say no more, say no more! 😉

Tori Holub has a lovely voice, and backing vocals, instrumentals, audio and video are beautifully made. *_9.5_* seems right. It's good to hear vocals without Olympic gymnastics. My brother was a rock, prog, folk rock, folk fan, but he also liked the Carpenters. Richard Carpenter was a superb arranger. Tori pronounces a few words slightly differently, and has a good contralto range. Jim and Tori made a nice Burt Bacharach/Hal David Carpenters medley, but not as impressive. Best Wishes, Chaps. ☮

Some people shouldn't do some things. At all. These two guys have no business reacting to music, and probably art in general. They should try accounting, or plumbing, I don't know what would work for them - but judging artistic masterpieces is not something they should ever attempt. Sorry if I sound harsh, but I am actually generous with ther reaction.

  • @BritPopsReact

We react! If you played this to 100 people not 100 people will fall over loving it… or even think it is a masterpiece, that’s life, we have our own opinions just like you do, art is in all music. We understand people won’t agree and that is fine but telling us to do plumbing or accounting is a very childish remark, perhaps broadening the music you listen too in other genres will open your mind to the fact people have so many tastes and just because someone doesn’t have your view it doesn’t mean they are wrong :) happy Saturday BPR!

@@BritPopsReact Artistry and artistic value transcends genres, sensible and cultured people are able to recognize an exceptional performance even if never before exposed to that particular kind of art. You have chosen to put yourselves in front of a camera and broadcast to the whole world your inability to recognize value. Unfamiliarity with a genre, language or culture is not the excuse you think it is. And I wasn't in any way suggesting that plumbing could be done by people lacking the necessary skills, I apologize to all talented hardworking plumbers out there.

If I had to choose a movie for this song, it would be a movie about MLK's marsh on Washington. Strong, but not violent. Smooth, but determined. Hypnotic, but also giving space to everybody's own thoughts, feelings and motivations. Everybody, and I mean everybody, just HAS to move to the rhythm, nobody can sit still. So powerful, and Avi's voice is just magic. I love this song, love the rhythm, love the lyrics, love the voice and love the video. Very well done, Avi. 👌👌👌
