John Deere 318 No Start no Crank

This John Deere garden tractor will not start. It has been repowered with a Honda engine. I found that the battery 22f was bad and battery terminals were dirty. Replaced the battery and that helped some . Next on this John Deere i found a fuse that was corroded . After cleaning and replacing the fuse it helped . But the John Deere still had a delay starting. You turn the key and it was a second or so for the starter to Engauge. Next i replaced the ignition key switch on this John Deere 318 . I also explain how to install a starter improvement kit relay if needed. John Deere starter improvement kit instructions. Same for onan engine.

Im having the same issues and a friend told me the same. He jumpered the time delay module and put a push button starter and it fixed tge problem

That is when JD made good stuff, Heavy frames, heavy drive-trans and so on.

Yea i call the new stuff Tin mowers . More metal in a 318 frame than in a whole new tractor .

Just use the same letters on the switch . Maybe i am not following your question right

Still basically the same . Testing should be about the same . Hope you get it all sorted out
There is a possibility that the starter motor solinoid is not always pushing the internal contacts together hard enough for the maximum current to pass into the motor. Dirty contacts inside the solinoid. Those battery clamps were so dodgy that the resistance would limit the current, not good.

the switch went out on mine many times , The china companies supplying parts to the US companies are failing in quality .. I tried contact cleaner and WD40 and the ignition switches are kinda cheap built anymore ..
